At another job I used to work cash for, it was Christmas season and only myself and another person were working. She goes out for a 30 minute lunch since she had been working for like 5 hours and im left to watch cash. Customers who ask me for help understand I cannot run around and help them for a little bit because I need to ring people through and make sure no one steals. Well, except for one old woman. She asks me if there is a larger size for a jacket she has in here hand, and wants me to look out back. I tell her when we get any article of clothing in we put them all out at once, there are no more out back. I explain I cannot go look through the racks for her for another 12 or so minutes. This was all very polite from me. Then she decides to talk to (curse and berate) me for 10 minutes and leaves for a moment. My co-worker returns after that moment and she comes back and asks me to help. her: some bitchy phrase asking me to help her. me: "No, I do not want to help you. You were rather mean and rude to me." Pretty well my exact words. Herself, her husband and her mother (ancient) storm out and she vows to have me fired. Well, I should of helped her. But what I said was hardly atrocious. I get a formal warning for this because she told my boss that I made fun of her mother for being blind (I didn't say a word to this woman and I doubt she is blind.) but luckily my boss doesn't care at all because she doesn't feel men are anygood at customer service and shes happy I didn't do worse (she believed my story over hers.) She just advises me if I get another formal warning from the corporation I'll have to be fired by policy. Never had another warning and now I have a much better job inwhich I do physical labour outside. Yay. | ||

The best thing about that job seriously is the IPH checker (APM) thing that you can do at your register. It actually makes you have a goal for each day to exceed your previous day. PS- another thing I noticed is that the 12 items or less express lanes ALWAYS take longer because for some reason the people that come to those always have slow ways of payment or want to take something off their bill or whatever that requires a CSM to do. And the CSM's take their sweet fucking time to come over to your register when you put on the flashing light. I walked over to their desk so many times when they were just chatting away about bullshit instead of working and paying attention and then they have the audacity to yell at me for leaving my register. The straw that broke the camel's back for me was when I was late one day because they wouldn't let my mom take a 15 minute break to go pick me up (she worked there with me). And there is no bus that goes there unless I took like 3 that like zig zag all fucked up to get there. Then they yelled at me for being late. | ||

Working for a corporation you cannot retreat and their policy stops you from defending yourself, even in polite and proper ways. Assholes know this and prey on it. | ||

I couldn't void the transaction (even with a CSM) because I had already started to check out other customers. At my store the CSM code is 248 for miscellaneous. And I Action Code 10 after each transaction XD | ||

Sometimes I'll spike up to like 600-700 when customers get like 5 of each different kind of portfolios/clue/crayons and they all have different UPCs. I love those days (I'm not always on the express lane). | ||
