Also I can understand why people can be hesitant of vaccines that are not fully approved yet, but only emergency approved.

Also I can understand why people can be hesitant of vaccines that are not fully approved yet, but only emergency approved. Approval for emergency use also requires an extremely high standard and strict adherence to protocol. I can't put the difference between that and full approval into numbers, but it's so close that it's absurd to argue that the risk of infection is better than the certainty of vaccination. Even people in Antarctica got infected for crying out loud. I hope that helps put things into perspective.

https://www.reddit.com/r/canada/comments/pbbh64/no_medical_or_religious_exemptions_for_bcs/ Those rare people who have a medical reason why they can't be immunized … they will not be able to attend those events during this period. Zero exemptions for mandatory vaccination in order to access luxuries. The only thing exempt is religious worship services. Nice and simple, if you have a reason you cannot be vaccinated, you should not undertake the risk of being in public in higher risk environments. It's more than doubled our daily vaccine doses since the announcement, and will probably get us closer to controlling delta. As of today, 75% of the total population has received a vaccine, which is a pretty good sum without kids being eligible, which I'm quite stoked about. https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2777417 Anaphylaxis to the mRNA COVID-19 vaccines is currently estimated to occur in 2.5 to 11.1 cases per 1 million doses, largely in individuals with a history of allergy. Essentially, there's a handful of people who cannot be vaccinated, and most of them have a history of allergic reactions. They are still able to get vaccinated though, with treatment for the reaction at the same time. Edit:: One other piece of news, Starting Nov. 1, unvaccinated Delta [Airlines] employees who have health insurance from the company will face $200 monthly surcharges. https://www.cnbc.com/2021/08/25/delta-air-lines-unvaccinated-employees-will-face-200-fees-if-they-dont-get-covid-vaccine.html The cost of covid premiums has been initially set at $2400 a year. Once you see more insurance companies adopt it, vaccination rates should go up. That's not an insignificant sum to most people.

Heh for a year their main argument against Vax hesitant folks was ‘You need to get it to protect those that can’t get it for medical reasons’, and now they’ve gone and thrown those medically exempt folks under the bus. Hardly surprising to be honest from that crowd. They’re even using the same arguments now that the anti-vaxxers use to justify that position, that there are barely any truly medically exempt folks. We’ve come full circle.

It's just the free market putting a price on anti Vax insured people. Can hardly be done in a freer way, can it? The US of A should adopt that in a heartbeat, no?

That said, I'm not sure large indoor public events are going to last much into the fall in the US or Canada anyway whether you're vaccinated or not.

Their goal is still zero covid, so lets hope they can turn things around. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/aug/25/new-zealand-wont-throw-in-towel-on-covid-zero-strategy-despite-rising-infections

Got my first Pfizer shot this weekend. Sore arm and some mild headache / malaise, but otherwise it was fine. Overall I've been reasonably impressed my government's handling of Covid. The current vaccine drive is huge and most young adults I know have been able to get their first vaccine within days of the registry opening.

Thought I had it visible, but that must be on the other account I lost the password for XD Despite having terrible infrastructure, many crowded shack cities and one of the most seriously immunocompromised populations in the world, we've managed to not totally screw it up. Which I am super happy about.
