You can't seriously think that means US and the EU are not doing these behind the door? US prism program? Who knows how many more under the NSA.

Uk has more security cams than anywhere else.

What is it. Do they or don't they have the know how? And are or aren't they doing it behind closed doors?
My comment was solely on the fact that when the CCP wants things done they get things done. And usually things lag behind quite a bit for (at least in the EU) legislation as opposed to what next dystopian bullshit scheme corpos are trying to push next.

Are you using any gov issued chat app and social media? If not then you know the answer. CCP didn't create alibaba or wechat etc neither.
My point is we aren't living on gov issued chat app /social media, gives it at least some more barrier against misuse by gov under closed door.
But that doesn't mean the gov can't impose whatever change they want, public or closed doors. Look at the awkward apple app store in the EU
I should’ve searched out the envelope and postmark after seeing the letter contents posted in the thread because … it’s the wrong city and a date three days after Epstein died. The DoJ produced so much responsive material that they grabbed an Epstein impersonator and shoved it out there. Hilarious and embarrassing.
Now this is probably going to really stir the pot and create a lot of backlash. It turns out that the documents were redacted so poorly that you can still select, copy and paste the text under black boxes to view them in any text editor.
This not only reveals the text and names that shouldn't be redacted (like mentions of bribery and corruption within some offices) but also the names, addresses and such of the victims.

What‘s the barrier against misuse ? A corporation will always be for profit. You can pay google to favour your enterprise in the search engine. It‘ll be similar for other tech companies.
Leas government just means that people with more money get to bend more rules, as if there weren‘t already a bazillion examples for that. Do you want to be ruled equally or inequally by some corporate overlords because you don‘t have the funds to compete once they reduced governments to a dinosaur that can‘t keep track of what they are doing ?
Gift someone something useful this Christmas, like a basket of pre-written subpoenas. Using the internet used to be easy.

In other words, fuckup of the the century.
This is very common when redacting, and this administration has proven to be very incompetent, so I'm not surprised. At my office, only a couple of people are authorized to do digital redactions on more sensitive documents because they are they only ones who know how to actually remove all the data and metadata associated with what's under the black boxes. For lower-sensitivity documents, other staff can redact, but we have to put the black boxes, print, scan, THEN say it's redacted... lol
the fact that the government doesn't have a program that actually completely redacts information and removes all relevant meta data is absolutely mind boggling to me.

Yeah, copium. To be honest, it’s quite interesting to read your perspective. It feels like you may have been a bit disconnected from reality over the past ten years.
I would say I admire your optimism, but I think it might be misplaced.
His supporters don’t want to hear that about their leader, but the point is that they don’t even need to accept it as true. Any Epstein-related documents that come out won’t really change that, because the reality is that they simply don’t care. If they had even the slightest reservations, they already had plenty of opportunities to step away ten years ago.
As much as I appreciate someone from another country telling me about the psychology of my own family members and neighbors, the fact is that Trump's approval rating is already a smouldering crater. You would've seen this for yourself from the 10-20 point swing in the November elections if you were paying attention, but sure, tell me about all the copium I'm on lol.
