Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, a loyal supporter-turned-critic of President Donald Trump who faced his political retribution if she sought reelection, said Friday she is resigning from Congress in January.
Greene, in a more than 10-minute video posted online, explained her decision and said she didn’t want her congressional district “to have to endure a hurtful and hateful primary against me by the president we all fought for,” she said.
Greene’s resignation followed a public falling-out with Trump in recent months, as the congresswoman criticized him for his stance on files related to Jeffrey Epstein, along with foreign policy and health care.
Trump branded her a “traitor” and “wacky” and said he would endorse a challenger against her when she ran for reelection next year.
She said her last day would be Jan. 5, 2026. https://apnews.com/article/marjorie-taylor-green-congress-resigns-trump-maga-5f42d4893343babc8e87da1491a0de2b Over the past few weeks, she'd arbitrarily decided to start criticizing Trump, which was bizarre because he hadn't changed and she was basically riding him and worshipping him for years.
It's deeply funny that a true believer of a cabal of elite pedophiles ruling the world managed to become a Congressperson and then promptly quit after finding out the cabal was actually being run by her party all along

The 34-year-old mayor-elect of New York was pressed by a reporter if he thought his host, who was sitting about four inches away, was really “a fascist.”
How terribly awkward.
But before Mr. Mamdani could even get out one of his slick and diplomatic answers, the president jumped in to throw him a lifeline.
“That’s OK, you could just say, ‘Yes,’” Mr. Trump said, looking highly amused by the whole thing. He waved his hand, as if being called the worst term in the political dictionary was no big deal.
“OK, all right,” Mr. Mamdani said with a smile. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/11/21/us/politics/trump-mamdani-scene.html Felt very much like if WWE had a "communist" and a "fascist".

I don't think he got Canada to spend more on the military. 1) During the same time as we were upping our military, we got to include a bunch of new things like our Coast Guard to be counted as military spending... and our Coast Guard is nothing like the auxiliary fleet that America has. Our conservation officers carry handguns, but I don't know how often the Coast Guard does, if any.
In other words, a bunch of our increased military spending is just Carney moving some spreadsheet numbers around.
2) And then every one in NATO is spending more on military due to the war in Ukraine, no thanks to capitulation Trump.
On point #3, you cannot count a possible future event aka something that hasn't happened in the win column, lol. No more than you can can count Trump's successful negotiation of peace between Ukraine and Russia as a win just yet. Day one peace didn't arrive and we're still waiting as his admin gins up increasingly Russian-coded capitulation plans. At the rate we're going, Canada will have signed ten deals with other countries and Trump is exiting his second term and pushing for three by the time anything happens.
And I don't think Trump had much to do with Canada dropping retaliatory tariffs. Tariffs are a self-inflicted wound. Carney did them as Canada was looking for blood, but really the boycotts by product and vacationing were the few things we could do to impact America, if marginally and rerouting trade to other countries while Trump's 90 deals and 90 days team runs around making zero in a year.
The long term shift of Canada looking to other trade partners is the true impact of Trump's 'negotiations'.

^ Plus, why the hell are we counting "getting Canada to remove its retaliatory tariff" (i.e. "fixing the problem I created") in his favor?

We all know this, it’s a pattern Trump almost never deviates from.
I’ve long felt Trump doesn’t really have too many convictions, and that this propensity is simultaneously his worst trait as a leader, and his best. It’s almost entirely dependent on who’s influencing him.
I think you see this exemplified best when he went ‘…that they don’t know what the fuck they’re doing!’ A double rarity. He was clearly genuinely and not performatively angry, and he swore. Which, he basically never does, I can’t remember another public instance of it anyway.
Why was he so angry? Well, I reckon he thought he’d built up a rapport with Netanyahu, they’re buddies now. Then Netanyahu betrays Trump’s trusting nature, makes him look daft and he loses his shit.
More broadly, we’re talking about different things.
Being able to set aside differences and work with people you’ve massive differences in worldview with, absolutely is a desirous trait in political leaders. Or indeed any kind of leader. And Trump can do this.
It’s quite another to be so susceptible to flattery that you’re no longer pushing through differences, they just dissipate until the next person blows smoke up your arse.

I realized that MTG answered who is more scary between the "violent radial left" and MAGA. She stoked the left for years no stress or worries. She lasts one week of Trump deciding she's no good.
MAGA has to be at least 100x worse. The answer should surprise no one, but how drastic the difference it must be is pretty frightening.

And in the bright new age of politics with no consequences, nothing will come out of it.
It was a huge deal on the campaign trail, the first 2 months of the administration were all about DOGE, now, it's getting quietly scuttled and no one will even bat an eye.
If you ever ask conservatives about it they'll just say they did their job, removed waste fraud and abuse and despite there being 0 evidence of this take a victory lap for owning the argument.
I have a feeling that this is how the Epstein files will go as well.

You think that's a neat trick, wait until the conservatives that you'd be asking insist that you're a sexist if you don't support MTG as the Democratic nominee for president in 2028 after she beats Newsome because he comes off as a used car salesman.
I joke, but only a little.
An important note on the age of no consequences, there's 0 chance that any future fascist will be anything but encouraged by the lack of them by Democrats for everyone involved in this deliberate move toward fascism.

Welp, the Q3 economic growth estimates arrive November 26. Things are going OK for me, my friends, and my family. My wife's 23 year old nephew got married and is now moving into a trailer where the lot fee is $400/month. So he and his wife will be able to save buckets of cash and get a house in a year. This trailer lot is in Stafford VA about a 0.75 hour drive from the big city. Generally speaking, only 12% of Americans are married with a house before age 30.

I suspect New York City will continue to be a brutal place to live for 1/3 or its populace after Mamdani's term is up. The best possible outcome is that salaries right upstate and in New Jersey and more NYC can leave. This lowers the demand for apartments, food, and utilities and the prices come down while salaries are forced up.
I think Mamdani will "shuffle the deck chairs on the Titanic".

Criminal cases against ex-FBI director Comey, Letitia James dismissed because prosecutor Halligan was found to be illegally appointed: https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/us-va-case-dismissed-james-comey-9.6990482
Comey can't be indicted because his alleged crime is now past the statue of limitations.
Turns out firing all the people who know how to do their jobs and replacing them with podcasters still hasn't worked out great for Trump.

MAGA has to be at least 100x worse. The answer should surprise no one, but how drastic the difference it must be is pretty frightening. Reminder that on Jan 6 Lindsey Graham gave a speech saying it's the end of the road for him and Trump, a couple of days later in his first encounter with the public he was answering some reporters in an airport while MAGA folks were yelling at him calling him a traitor and he looked genuinely terrified, then he fell back in line.
Even during the Biden years Republicans were kept in check by fear of the Trump cult, let alone now that he's back in power and using every tool available for personal vendettas. I'm not surprised they'd rather quit than go against him, and I won't be surprised post-Trump when every Republican congressperson that voted for his every whim and licked his boots in media will suddenly present themselves as a helpless victim.
