Not sure what/who you're referring to, but the 87,000 new IRS agents made a couple people antsy. A lot of folks like to point to the fact that part of the job description is to hold a firearm and be willing to use deadly force to facilitate their job: however, this has always been a part of how the IRS operates. Weird dudes showing up to talk about taxes but also having a gat ready. It doesn't have to make sense.

There's a difference between seeing the IRS as an annoyance, and as a newly weaponized Biden army about to kill Republican families.

Only criminal investigation special agents carry weapons, and they make a up a tiny portion of revenue agents. The vast majority are CPAs who do not carry a weapon. In case it isn’t incredibly obvious, the IRS isn’t hiring 87k CI special agents lol

IRS agents do need to be able to carry weapons and accompany raids, though in practice you’re right, that never happens.

Any substance to this rumor? Trump has had difficulty finding experienced criminal defense attorneys. The rumor that he's representing himself in court comes from some court filing difficulties he faced recently, but he still has 3 lawyers representing him. From what I understand, all 3 have very little to no experience in criminal defense. If these are the 3 he's stuck with when/if he gets charged, then I expect a very bad result for him at trial.

So far he has found at least somewhat competent representation every time. I really don't think this will suddenly be the time he gets stuck without a lawyer. But hey, cry wolf another few times and I'm sure eventually there'll be one, right?

Basically American Democrats in a nutshell. In their myopic determination to play the center lane and offend no one, they end up pissing off just about everyone.

The Democrats held the seat despite polling showing the Republican ahead by 8-10 points. The most recent House special elections after the Roe overturn showed Democrats outperforming their typical lack of interest in a midterms. NE01 - Trump +15 -> R+5 MN01 - Trump +10 -> R+4 NY23 - Trump +11 -> R+6 Election Twitter says this isn't really the kind of environment conducive to a midterms red wave, which is kinda stunning considering the lousy sentiment over the economy with inflation, Biden's approval at 40%, and the midterms almost always resulting in losses for the party of the president.

![]() They only need to flip ~5 seats anyways, so the GOP are bound to flip fewer districts this year because there are fewer districts left to flip! But that's for November. Republicans and conservatives looked good in Florida tonight, including flipping the School Board of Miami-Dade, one of the biggest dem counties (and biggest counties overall) in the state. We're watching a changing of party coalitions in real-time and it's fascinating. 1994 is arguably the last one, although if you really wanted to you could go further back than that. 1994 could be viewed more as a continuation of a trend in the South that had already been happening. ** As for Biden, can't wait to see all the people complain about president's ignoring the law really get on Biden's case! Just kidding, no one on that side even questions it's legality (it is, in fact illegal The DOE knows it, Pelosi used to know it). But we know Biden doesn't care, just like the rent moratorium, he'll do it anyways and see if the courts stop him. He's at least as bad on this stuff as Trump was. But the results tonight are only going to make dems feel like they have to pander more to these exact voters for November. We'll see if this causes a backlash from literally everyone else.

Lot of eyes on it because it's seen as a bellwether for the midterms and the Republican candidate was a really strong pick who was outspending the Democrat significantly. Expectations were for a flip and the seat's partisan lean is R+4 The Democrats held the seat despite polling showing the Republican ahead by 8-10 points. We'll see how things go at the actual election though.
