So an article today popped up saying that PETA has gotten a little vocal on their beliefes towards Pokemon.
Animal rights group PETA has condemned the Pokémon media franchise and video game series, saying it “paints a rosy picture of what amounts to thinly veiled animal abuse.
"The Pokémon series tells the stories of young “trainers” who befriend wild critters called Pokémon, help them grow stronger, and coach them through a series of non-fatal sparring matches against other trainers."
“Much like animals in the real world, Pokémon are treated as unfeeling objects and used for such things as human entertainment and as subjects in experiments. The way that Pokémon are stuffed into pokéballs is similar to how circuses chain elephants inside railroad cars and let them out only to perform confusing and often painful tricks that were taught using sharp steel-tipped bullhooks and electric shock prods …if PETA existed in Unova, our motto would be: Pokémon are not ours to use or abuse. They exist for their own reasons. We believe that this is the message that should be sent to children."

This has to be THE most ridiculous thing i have ever heard in my life (next to PETA complaining about the rats being eaten in a Call of Duty campaign mission). I grew up with pokemon both the show and the games and it did nothing but give me great experiences. PETA is really digging deep to find any sort of publicity for them now.
They are just starving for attention no need to give them any.
eh, let's be honest. PETA has been a joke for the last howmanyever years, like you said, it's just another idiotic publicity stunt, like their porn site, and their naked fur thing, etc. etc.
I'm fairly certain that PETA are just trolls. I've seen a lot of their public statements and I can't fathom how people who care so much about animals know so little about them.
the premise of pokemon is actually pretty twisted, but yes i don't care much for these animal rights... but anyways like you said they are just finding publicity, since they are simply stating they are against pokemon
I think PETA arguing that all ice cream should be made from human breastmilk was stranger. The group's entire strategy is attention whoredom. Make the wildest/strangest declarations and hope, as in this case, someone notices it and makes it news.
Pokemon is pretty adamant about how if you love them they will always win
I play the game and use only protest and petition... I died (fainted).
I had never heard of the breastmilk and porn site, that's just too funny
And this is why I don't give money to PETA. Instead of actually doing something to help with animal rights they spend their time and money protesting against the most ludicrous things.
Actually, in the more recent pokemons you need to keep them happy by feeding 'em berries and shit, the positive bond between the Pokemon and trainer are reasserted over and over again during the game, how they love eachother, and that it's healthy to form bonds of friendship, it feels like these idiots never even bothered to play the games.
If anything it teaches kids about friendship, not to mention math and such with it's deceptively complicated RPG elements.
I'm glad we're giving attention to PETA's attention whoring efforts.
They do shit like this solely to get in the limelight. Stop giving them attention and eventually they'll stop doing it.

LOL
ok pokemon black and blue is seriously amazing ahahahahahahaha
Not sure if this is more or less bullshit compared to "guns in video games promote violence." And considering how the main theme of Pokemon has always been to love and care for your Pokemon.....
It's like they have nothing to do.

I didn't know Pokemon Black/White 2 was out.

Is PETA even relevant anymore? I feel like they do more harm than good for their cause lol
Kind of hard to believe PETA is trying hard. Pokemon shows teams like Rocket as the "abusers" and it's declared wrong. Trainers like Ash, Brock, and Misty love their pokemon. If peta bothered to watch the series, they would easily find out that the trainers love their pokemon. I've been playing since Red/Blue and if anything, Pokemon taught me how to have respect for all of the pokemon in the game. Hell, I've even loved all the animals period because of pokemon.
This hype will die down soon I hope.

Before playing their flash game of Pokemon the last pokemon i played was Silver haha thanks Peta for the memories.

You're right but they need some limelight as their activities have been rather stale lately.

Alright PETA you are starting to sound very crazy now. They are trolling right? Because I mean this is starting to get ridiculous.
