Yea, probably going to be deleted ASAP but too late, you cant hide things like that from the Internet.

Just reading through this thread for the first time. Really surprised by how brash some of the celebrities are being. Not very tactful, regardless of views on the issue.

I love how twitter has made it possible for people to say things that they will probably regret latter on. To rephrase an old saying; some people need to think before they tweat.
|
It's not like being celebrities magically makes them rational people. They just have a bigger platform for spreading their stupid rants.

The problem is when they get quoted as if its of higher authority.

I find weiners the most interesting.
Keep Trayvon's family in our prayers. Deeply unsatisfying verdict. Trial by jury is our only choice in a democracy.
I do believe he is both suggesting that he is unsatisfied by trial by jury and democracy (democracy being understandable considering the founders said it is the worst form of government, but I doubt weiner knows that if he's suggesting what it sounds like he is).

I only followed this case starting with the trial but was there a lead investigator before Chris Serino?
Serino was the investigator starting the moment Zimmerman walked into the Police Station, the night of the incident. He interviewed him, conducted the walk through the next day, everything.

Would it change your opinion if you were, at some point, educated to the fact that Stand Your Ground had not a fucking thing to do with this case ?
|
GZ should sue everyone who is talking about "getting away with murder". Would have a pretty good case imo.

Serino was the investigator starting the moment Zimmerman walked into the Police Station, the night of the incident. He interviewed him, conducted the walk through the next day, everything. From what I understand, the case was dropped initially because they just couldn't find anything to really pin Zimmerman on. The media picked it up and turned it into a race war. At least that's how this thread has made it seem, which is corroborated by what I've seen in the news... ahem... Nancy Grace... ahem.
All these people who never followed the news, but put out there statements on twitter need a reality check.

If there was profiling, it probably has more to do with the clothing and overall looks of Trayvon Martin than his skin color. Just a thought.
|
NBC is probably already on a conference call with their attorneys as the moment the juror said not guilty they knew they were screwed.
|
I had a strong feeling he would get manslaughter despite the weak arguments from the prosecutors. Now Zimmerman has to find a way to live a normal life, which might be somewhat difficult
|
In the midst of all those insane celebrity twits, Donald Trump showing some common sense.
@realDonaldTrump Zimmerman is no angel but the lack of evidence and the concept of self-defense, especially in Florida law, gave the jury little other choice

Zimmerman shot Martin with a gun. Because there was no prior intent (probably) and it was in self defense (almost certainly), it's reasonable that he did not intend to kill Martin. This sounds like an open and shut manslaughter conviction- though if testimony had uncovered intent, it could have been murder.
You can get convicted of manslaughter for building a house incautiously if it results in the house falling and killing someone inside. No matter how little you wanted that person to die or how indirectly your actions led to their death, if you kill someone, you at LEAST get manslaughter.
I don't understand how Zimmerman could possibly walk completely free from this. It does not seem consistent with justice as I understand it. if you assume its not self defense then of course you cant understand it. the jury found it was self defense.

Can I ask you to elaborate and provide a source? Because I do believe that Zimmerman was acquitted because he acted in self-defense in accordance to Stand Your Ground. I also believe that the law should be modified in order to prevent possible abuses of Stand Your Ground such as potentially provoking an altercation and then killing the other individual in "self-defense."
