Just jump to conclusions about negligence. It wasn't just a wall, or just some trash cans. It was trash cans filled with water, with a concrete wall behind it, with a safety berm behind that. It missed the water cans, blasted through the wall, hit the safety berm, and took an incredibly unlikely bounce off of it to fly into the neighborhood that was 700 yards past the range. "A Public Information Officer and bomb technician for the Alameda County Sheriff’s office, who is a regular safety explosives expert for MythBusters, was on site and all proper safety protocol was observed." "Crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy," said Sgt. J.D. Nelson, a spokesman for the Alameda County Sheriff's Department. "You wouldn't think it was possible."
Sounds like some sort of extremely unlikely and freaky accident.

I'm surprised they would do the experiment so close to a city. Usually they are very careful.
|
I'm really surprised by that. I find it hard to believe that Jamie or Adam would do something that would be as dangerous as that seems.
Also, if the cannonball misses its target, I don't think that it is still effective. Just pointing that out...

If they air this on TV, all is forgiven.

As long as no one was hurt and they pay for the damages, I would be happy to have my house cannonballed by the Mythbusters.

If i was the mythbuster's legal team which i would guess expects smaller stuff like this to happen on a yearly basis i would treat those people with the utmost respect and pay for damages to be fixed if not completely replace them with nicer items such as the roofing tiles and the car as long as they sign to not sue them. As those people could sue them together making a viable lawsuit much easier for the people claiming damages. As a person, well although i have my complaints about mythbusters and how they operate their show does promote somewhat the basis for science and so i would be more lenient on them and accept it on a personal level, but if this was just some faceless company i'd sue them to get more out of it even though it would take longer.

I'm pretty sure the most fucked up part of this whole debacle, is the family not waking up while the cannon ball blew the door off its hinges, ricocheted up the stairs, and exited through the fucking wall.
It was Jamie and Adam, with the cannon ball, in the bedroom wall.

Wow that is pretty insane, i never thought they would do something like that

Next episode, "Busting the myth of negligence: How, sometimes, shit just goes wrong."

Everything is ok at least. Continue on for science.

I am so glad that no one was killed, because it easily could have happened. What a tremendous mistake, pointing a loaded cannon towards a residential neighborhood. it's more like how could they miss a row of trashcans filled with water hit through a concrete wall and through another house and the god damn canonball did still not stop. Sounds like they used way too much blackpowder or american houses are made out of paper.
we all live in stucco, drywall with a hint of paper mache houses in the states that are cheap and fast to build. I'm sure all the castles people in Germany live in would hold up much better. After all, they're used to getting cannons chucked at them for hundreds and hundreds of years!

See, I think mythbusters sucks so I'm happy to see this.
All these people going "OH MAN, I LOVE THE HOSTS, THEY ARE SO CAREFUL, AWWW, WOW POOR GUYS" make me sick. Man they are TV personalities not your best buddies. If i shot a cannonball through people's houses, I would probably end up in prison even if I didn't hurt anyone. I hope the show gets fucked hard over this.
Then again its TV, mouthbreathers will probably eat this shit up and make the show more money/viewers than ever before. sigh.

Should only make the show that much better. That's what it's all about lol.
|
I don't even know how I would react if I saw a cannonball in my van?
Modern pirates?

They followed all safety procedures, had 3 barriers to stop the cannon, and fired it on a range with permission from the sheriff's office. It's not like they pointed the cannon at a town and fired it at houses.
Not sure why you would "hope the show gets fucked hard," or why you think only stupid people watch television. I suggest you lighten up or you won't last long on this site.

Well i doubt we will be seeing any types of explosives from them for a little while.

Most american houses are not made of heavily fortified stone.
I think.

Believe it or not, I knew some kids in high school that rigged an old sailboat up as a mini-pirate ship, complete with mini cannon that launched objects around a grapefruit in size. They would sail up and down the Maumee river, and one kid became quite the cannon marksman, as he would target practice with the permission of the local police. Weird shit goes down in NW small town Ohio haha.

This was in my town. Friggin crazy, can't wait to see this one.
