All great choices. I personally love the peat style that bowmore has even if it has a sweetness and darkness that other drinkers find less challenging.
With the farclases I found that initially a slightly bitter acidic note can be found especially if drank before eating dinner. These guys do really well with water, air and time (the acid/bitter disappears and is replaced with sweetness) and after a heavy meal your tastebuds tend to detect these tastes less.
Don't forget the 105 is a ten year old casker while the 12 has a bit more maturity and softness.

Amazing what kind of trouble people go through only to get shitfaced. When life is shitty to this extent why wouldnt people just off themselves?

Bad troll or are you serious?
You will find folks in this thread aren't interested in getting 'shitfaced'. What a waste of whisky.

Would it be as good if it was non-alcoholic?
Or are you trying to argue semantics of 'shitfaced'?

I'm not going to pay 100+$ a bottle to get hammered when i could pay 10 and do the same thing

Most worthless argument ever in an enthusiast thread. I hear the same crap all the time in regards to craftbeer, and nobody ever thinks it's funny or agrees. It's like saying "I'd just rather eat Cheetos and play Call of Duty than Starcraft, it's easier and I don't care that much".
Keep on keepin' on, whiskey folks.

I drank with rich ppl before, they have nice booze and it goes down smoother. But after a shot or two the difference is a joke. Ppl drink to get at least tilpsy, to 'relax'. I find having 10 bottles of different whiskey to be incredibly pretentious and borderline laughable but thats just me.

Amrut Single Malt, Amrut Fusion, Glenfiddich 12-18 yr. Out of the 5 of those my favourite would have to be Amrut Fusion. 50% of the best tasting scotch I'll ever have.. until I end up dropping like 300 bucks on some sick bottle of Macallan or the Glenfiddich 50 yr or something.

Rich people? A good bottle of scotch is 40$ in the US. You don't take 'shots' of good malt, or anything else for that matter, you enjoy it like you would a good hot coffee. But I guess if you're entire drinking experience consists of illegal under-age high school house parties, we're wasting our time talking to you.

I'm a bartender. I said I drank with rich people before only to roughly give you an idea of the stuff I've tried, so no one throws "you have no clue" at me. Not specificaly whiskey. It is comical because I can pour you literally anything for your 3rd drink and you will not know the difference. Whatever you say will not change this fact so keep entertaining yourself with how unique you are for buying rare breeds of alcohol rofl.
I have to stop derailing since I was warned but just wanted to answer this post. I went through some drinking stages in my life and now I drink very seldom, if at all, and tbh I wish I didn't drink at all. Bottom line - if you drink with any sort of regularity you're an alcoholic, even if its once a week. Drinking when you go out or to have fun is basically admitting youre socially inept. Drinking home alone is much worse.

No. You can not pour me a Red Label after a couple of Port Ellens and cross your fingers that I won't know the difference. And if it was a hyperbole, don't use the word literally. I understand that you don't agree with most people in here, but luckily taste is subjective. I really don't see the use of you posting in a thread titeled 'TL Whisky Fans' just to tell the Fans of Whisky that they are wrong. It really don't fill a purpose other than trying to force a reaction. If that was your goal, congratulations, you have succeeded. Now please, let us enjoy what we have to enjoy in life, without your hostile posts telling us how wrong we are. It doesn't benefit anyone.

Thanks for the input. I'm a big fan of beer but I'm looking to expand my knowledge in whisky too.

1. No. I will definitely notice a difference. At least when we are talking about magnitudes like cheap blends (10-20€) vs. entry single malts (30-40€) vs. older whisk(e)ys (50-80€). Above that it is less about quality and more about individual and unique flavours and in that range it might get harder to notice a difference in quality. But that is not the stuff you drink en masse, which leads to my second point: 2. You do not drink good whisky in such quantity. It depends on the timeframe as well of course, but there is a reason that every whisky tasting recommends you to drink a maximum of 3-5 whiskys. And a dram is 2.8 or 3.4 cl. So sure, after three times 4 cl, you get into a region where you are surely going to notice less of a difference. Less does not mean none though.
95% of the time I drink whisky, it is 1-2 dram. Thus your argument that on the third drink there was no difference is totally void, as usually there is no third drink. Since I do not drink whisky to get wasted, there is no relation of drinking it and going out to party and planning to lose control. It can be any evening since it is a taste and smell experience just like eating good food or ice cream.
> if you drink with any sort of regularity you're an alcoholic, even if its once a week
That is why you do not make it a ritual and should not connect it to your brain's reward system. Just drink when you really feel like it and want to. I have 40+ bottles of 40% or more alcohol in this house and I am mostly sad that I forget about it and drink not as often as I would like to. For the taste and just because I like it. There is no inner "urge" that pushes me towards it. The mistake is to drink if you are not truly enjoying it.

I was under the impression the 'laddie ten' was their oldest 'true' single malt (IE not old stock from Jim Bean or bought from another distillery). It'll be at least 8 years before you can get 'true' laddie 19
I guess what you mean is the fact that Bruichladdich was closed between 94-00 and then reopened by new owners? Even so, the distillery in it self is much, much older and the bottling is from before the change of owners, and still a Bruichladdich in my book at least. Other than that, you are correct I guess.

Drinking home alone is much worse. You sound pretty jaded towards alcohol considering you've chosen to serve it in mass quantity as a profession. You consider the people you serve just once a week to be alcoholics and socially inept? You must be miserable, trying to reconcile your job with your opinions. No wonder you wandered into a fan thread about a spirit and spread the hate, you detest the people you serve to and are probably unhappy, so everyone else should be too, right? You should consider the possibility that you lack the capacity to enjoy whiskey like the actual fans in this thread, and should probably just be grateful when someone orders an expensive single malt from you and leaves an appropriate tip. If you even serve nice single malts
