Man, Castro said it best when he called the Republican contest a "carnival of idiocy".

I was actually commenting on the idiocy of Gingrich claiming that certain identities are 'invented' and irrelevant because of it. All identities are invented/constructed socially. Not US bashing.

Think Romney has Florida in the bag now. He had already overtaken the polls again, and he did okish.

Makes much more sense in context now. Next time throw a "Well Gingrich, There's no american identity either. It was invented somewhere in 1776."

Makes sense now, though. Thanks for explaining.

My god, after another watching debate like that...

Like I can understand not liking Obama, but in hell how does Gingrich have support??

Even Reagan didn't like the guy...

Some people like that Newt is succinct. If you notice, he will always break down his responses into well-defined pieces.

For example, he'll say something like: "There are two fundamental issues at hand here. (1) blah blah blah (2) blah blah blah"

This is usually followed by a single example of him demonstrating previous experience with the aforementioned issues and a single example of why Romney failed to address these issues in the past.

Romney has a similar approach to his responses, but it appears as though he's thinking about his response while saying it, which could be interpreted by some as being less confident in his answers.

Breaking down his statements doesn't really matter if they're ridiculous ones to begin with

Sure it does. Not everybody thinks that Newt's resolutions are as ridiculous as you or I believe them to be.

And as much as I hate to admit that delivery plays a significant role in people's decision making, it certainly does.

It's precisely why I wish that Romney's vocal chords were somehow medically implanted into Dr. Paul.

Ehh, as he goes on (and deeper into "out there stuff") I'm honestly just struggling to understand how his support is that high. Even if Romney is one of the biggest flip-flopping candidates I've ever seen, his proposals at least aren't that, you know.+ Show Spoiler +

Oh and I know, unfortuneately I just overesitimate the average American's perception a lot. (Same for the liberals as well). It's freaking ridiculous. Someone can make the most retarded of claims, but as long as they bash X, or mention Y it comes off as good to a lot of people.

It seriously seems like no one is trying to attack Ron Paul anymore, in fact they seem to be praising him more often than not now lol. It's like they're afraid of his voters ahaha

They're afraid they can't really beat him on the facts and he's also incredibly consistent so you can't call him out for flip flopping either. Paul has a pretty good mind for history and always keeps hammering home the same points.

He needs to run as an independent, imo. Did his '88 campaign scar him or something.

This is true, after watching every debate over the last few months (except the one tonight have to watch it later), I have to say my faith in American politics (what little I had) has been mostly flushed down the toilet. There are numerous times when candidates who I don't support at all say something intelligent and reasonable (a lota stuff hunstman said) and there is dead silence, then someone like Newt says something so utterly ridiculous that's its almost comical and he gets wild applause. To me it seems these debates are less about the issues and more about bashing the front runner, even the candidates gang up on whoever the front runner is at the time.

I guess the final point is people usually vote with their hearts and not their heads, they vote for who they like as a person. Obama will get a lot of votes again because, guess what? people like him as a person and who can blame them. No one really likes Mitt Romney as a person (maybe cuz they cant relate?) which is why hes had all these problems with conservatives.

Mmmm definetely. I just can't stand how stuck people are on some of their beliefs.

I was born in one of the Liberalist (is that a word?) cities in the US, but lately I've been finding myself drifting towards several major Conservative concepts...But then when I talk to my parents they use the word Republican as an insult.
And then of course on the opposite side of the spectrum...well some of these debates are enough.

Blah. I'll just continue my secret plan of becoming a trillionaire and then buying up several failing nation's debts and starting by own country.
