Everyone should know this was a scam from day one. But people just aren't used to being lied to like that. We just can't believe someone would make such a bold face lie like that to our face.
You're making a fool out of yourself by saying this. None of the scientists who attended demonstrations have concluded this to be an obvious scam. Do you think you're in a better position to judge the situation than them?
You're probably just not well informed on the subject to dismiss it that easily. There is a mountain of circumstantial evidence in favor of it being real, and most of the criticisms raised against Rossi are unfounded.
We'll know the truth eventually - in the meantime, claiming to have absolute certainty either way is foolish.
A lot of the criticism is not unfounded, however, as the report of the army a few posts above shows.
That scientists that attended demonstrations have not concluded it is an obvious scam says about nothing. Richard Feynman famously said "that the weakest position to be in is to think that you are cleverer than the other guy, and that he can't fool you."

Lol?
This apparently seems true, and i'm not really sure what Alex Jones has to do with it, but Alex Jones lies to you less than CNN and Fox do, I assure you.
Fuck this thread. Every time it gets bumped it doesn't provide anything. I'm just going to assume that this is all a hoax until I read about it on BBC or something.

There isn't a ton of money behind it. It's just one guy trying to get stuff patented/keep how he does it secret while he quietly gets sales and builds up to start mass production, while maybe funding research into the reaction at the university of bologna.

The US army was interested in Rossi's previous 'free energy' stuff.. but as you see here, they were burnt quite badly:
A report Department of Defense ordered on Rossi's supposed 'Thermoelectric Device Technology' whatever that is.. Highlighted some stuff, and while it might not be proof of a scam, I would certainly think twice before trusting this Rossi fella with my money.
Edit: Not that this has anything too do with his energy catalyzer to be fair. But still...
Ok, I am not 100% sure on this at all, but I am pretty sure I have read this before and seen this picture of the document, but instead of it saying 1 watt of power, it said either 400 or 500 watts of power. possible photoshop?

http://dodfuelcell.cecer.army.mil/ is a real army site. You can go there right now. You can get the PDF, just hope to the bottom, it's not photo shopped. Likely the photo you saw was shopped.
So why would anyone believe this? This is no independent evidence this works. This is like one of those silly youtube videos that show how silly it is to think logically there is a god (not bashing faith).
Hey, whats in the box?
-Cold fusion (or god) is in this box.
Oh cool, can I see in the box.
-No, you can't!
Well how would I know what's in the box then.
-Because I just told you what's in the box.
That doesn't prove what's in the box.
-Ok look, do you see the box and this machine being powered by the box. It's god inside the box powering the machine.
No i don't see that because not only will you not let me look in side the box, you won't even let me look inside the machine that says it's being powered from the box. And your own test you are telling me to watch are very flawed. Look, this is what my friend science has to say (with video). http://www.physorg.com/news/2011-08-controversial-energy-generating-lacking-credibility-video.html There is no creditably at all to believe this works as you claim.
-but I have a buyer who looked in side the box.
Oh great, can I talk to him?
-No, he is keeping his identity secret.
What does that prove?
-Other people have seen inside the box too, A lot of people believe in my work also (points to internet).
Hello internet, have you seen inside the box?
-No. Do you work for Big oil? It's known that bid oil would do anything to stop his work for free energy, and that's why he has to be so closed lipped with his work (it is known). It's really ignorant of you to say that there is no god in the box. You haven't seen inside of the box. You're making a fool out of yourself by saying this. None of the scientists who attended demonstrations have concluded this to be an obvious scam. Do you think you're in a better position to judge the situation than them?

Michael McKubre, an electro-chemist in the forefront of cold fusion energy development and one of the most respected scientists in the field recently held a lecture on Cold Fusion. The lecture is now available on YouTube in a multi-part series starting here:
In part 7 he talks about Rossi and the eCat starting at 3:50 in:
An interesting quote from this segment:
"Rossi is a dodgy character, he's had trouble with the law; people believe this could be a scam... I'll preface my remarks with that. However, having said that, people that I know and trust have stood in front of Rossi's reactor and have come away convinced that it really is doing more or less what Rossi claims. This includes my ex-program manager at DARPA, a very very intelligent man, and good friends of mine."
Also in the final segment, in the Q&A at the beginning he talks about Rossi:
A quote from this segment:
"Well first of all Rossi, is the master of misdirection. I think he's brilliant, actually and I just hope he has something because if he has something his strategy is truly brilliant. And by keeping it ambiguous, by keeping it never certain he avoids competition; people don't want to get in because they're not sure, and he avoids the evil eye of the department of energy: he's got a nuclear process... hes going to bring it to the United States, hes going to make a mega-watt nuclear effect... the only way he could possibly get away with that is if the DoE doesn't believe its true."
Tomorrow on Wednesday the Greek company Defkalion will present products similar to Andrea Rossi’s 'E-cat', claiming that the technology is developed in-house. But Defkalion earlier told Ny Teknik that it has "the formula of Rossi".
“Let’s say I have the formula of Rossi, but I’m not saying it officially. My scientists found a way to make it. They need three months.” That is what Alexandros Xanthoulis, representative of Defkalion Green Technology’s owners, told Ny Teknik in a telephone conversation on August 5, 2011.
“I know what he’s got in the reactor, I know everything. It was a spectroscopy made by the University of Siena. (...) They tried his reactor without him understanding what they did,” he continued.
A spectroscopy would allow an observer to determine the elements in the reactor chamber as well as giving some hints as to the type of nuclear reaction taking place. The University of Siena is possibly guilty of industrial espionage if true.
OK people, big news today on the Cold Fusion front.
Defkalion GT, an organization previously associated with Rossi has been developing their own eCat, known as the 'Hyperion'. Whether they copied Rossi's work or came up with some similar product is currently under debate, but they made a major press release about it today, including their future plans for the product and a technical specification data sheet.

cold fusion, that just sounds cool. Who cares if it even does anything with a name that cool.

Yup, first sale. What more could you possibly want?
