Lots has happened in the previous week on the eCat/LENR front. If you have the time and are interested, here's a compilation of links and recaps on the Pure Energy Systems website:

^ These are both suspect websites. Useless for corroboration.

From the few reports I've read, this looks like a giant scam.

all of these websites are suspect.. there's little to no effort in the coding of any of them. completely unprofessional and unreferenced publications that only link to each other in every attempt of referencing.

it's a scam =\

http://www.grc.nasa.gov/WWW/sensors/PhySen/research.htm

Tests conducted at NASA Glenn Research Center in 1989 and elsewhere consistently showed evidence of anomalous heat during gaseous loading and unloading deuterium into bulk palladium. At one time called “cold fusion,” now called “low-energy nuclear reactions” (LENR), such effects are now published in peer-reviewed journals and are gaining attention and mainstream respectability. The instrumentation expertise of NASA GRC is applied to improve the diagnostics for investigating the anomalous heat in LENR.

Relevant Presentation:
+ Download presentation given at a LENR Workshop at NASA GRC in 2011 [available soon].

So the workshop did take place, there is no reason to assume people are making its content up when the relevant information should be made available by NASa itself soon. Of course people are suspicious because it's hard to accept that this is real, but that doesn't mean their skepticism gets a free pass. In order to call it a scam etc, there must be hard evidence and good reasons.

I kinda figure that this is a scam, basically because of how the guy is going about conducting it.

If you have this technology (which is basically cheap, low-cost energy that doesn't produce CO2), if you're keeping that shit a secret, you're just a giant douche. This technology would revolutionize the world, make energy affordable for all, stop climate change, ocean acidification, emissions pollution, the list goes on. It would end energy monopolies, too, something that would have profound impacts on the world.

By letting everyone know how to do it, you would literally be remebered as the most revolutionary figure in the science world and real world for centuries. You'd still be able to make your millions, just by being so ridiculously famous. It's crazy, because if I made this technology, the benefits would be so revolutionary for the world that I would feel a moral imperative to actually get it out there as fast as I can.

Plus, you'd go down in history as one of the most famous people on the earth (and is a really awesome way). Who the hell wouldn't want that? I mean, for christ's sake, that's why so many people are following this. The potential of this technology is mind blowing, which is why people are hangin off this dudes every word. So why not just blow everyone's mind?

This is either a scam, or this guy is just the biggest douchebag on the planet (actually, it's probably both).

A month ago I was like you, but I've been reading into it from many different sources and there is something big on the horizon. There is just too much going on right now regarding LENR for it to be a scam. Even NASA is now in on it. I'm 99% certain we are in for a major change in how humankind gets our energy.

Also to clarify, this is not technically cold fusion. There is no actual fusion going on, though it is a yet-unknown nuclear reaction. This label has been unfairly and unfortunately tagged onto the end of LENR research with all the baggage it comes with.

Fantastic.

It's cold fusion so the news particles travel slowly but non the less merge into a story eventually. The process isn't well understood but you can't argue with the results.

What's more, the process is self-sustaining. The discussion can go on for month and month even in the absence of any new information. Compare this to hot fusion that requires a continuous supply of press releases to keep the discussion alive.

... Official source please. A reupload of anything is just silly, especially in this situation. The whole thing stinks scam and since no OFFICIAL, public and trusted source has confirmed anything after all this time I'm having serious doubts. Like someone else pointed out, there is no reason to hold this in, if he goes public he'll get rich and famous and can do lectures on this to the end of his life no problem.

This is either a scam, or this guy is just the biggest douchebag on the planet (actually, it's probably both).

Yep

EDIT: That pdf is so fake lol.

This is probably the most amateurish presentation I've ever seen and I regularly attend scientific conferences with some pretty terrible presentations... It's all text, no figures, schematics, plots. Seemingly random abbrevations of words. No introduction-slide, no outline, no conclusions. I don't think there's even a single number in there. More than half of the slides are titled "Aeronautical applications continued" and to top it off, on one of the last slides it says " BTW – LENR [ also] solves Global Climate and Energy…..".

Yes, solving climate and energy problems on a global scale is just an afterthought. It's the aeronautical applications that are really significant...

In other words: 100% fake.

I really wish someone would grant him a patent, supposedly then he'll disclose his take on the physics of it.

According to Rossi, Bushnell is on the wrong track, at least from a theoretical perspective. “If beta decay explained the reactions in my device, I would have been killed already [by the radiation] and we would have found different isotopes,” Rossi told me. He claims that he has a good handle on the theory, but he won’t disclose it until his patent is granted.

The US army was interested in Rossi's previous 'free energy' stuff.. but as you see here, they were burnt quite badly:

A report Department of Defense ordered on Rossi's supposed 'Thermoelectric Device Technology' whatever that is.. Highlighted some stuff, and while it might not be proof of a scam, I would certainly think twice before trusting this Rossi fella with my money.

Edit: Not that this has anything too do with his energy catalyzer to be fair. But still...

I doubt they would donate money to this guy again

Ok, I am not 100% sure on this at all, but I am pretty sure I have read this before and seen this picture of the document, but instead of it saying 1 watt of power, it said either 400 or 500 watts of power. possible photoshop?

http://dodfuelcell.cecer.army.mil/ is a real army site. You can go there right now. You can get the PDF, just hope to the bottom, it's not photo shopped. Likely the photo you saw was shopped.

So why would anyone believe this? This is no independent evidence this works. This is like one of those silly youtube videos that show how silly it is to think logically there is a god (not bashing faith).

Hey, whats in the box?

-Cold fusion (or god) is in this box.

Oh cool, can I see in the box.

-No, you can't!

Well how would I know what's in the box then.

-Because I just told you what's in the box.

That doesn't prove what's in the box.

-Ok look, do you see the box and this machine being powered by the box. It's god inside the box powering the machine.

No i don't see that because not only will you not let me look in side the box, you won't even let me look inside the machine that says it's being powered from the box. And your own test you are telling me to watch are very flawed. Look, this is what my friend science has to say (with video). http://www.physorg.com/news/2011-08-controversial-energy-generating-lacking-credibility-video.html There is no creditably at all to believe this works as you claim.

-but I have a buyer who looked in side the box.

Oh great, can I talk to him?

-No, he is keeping his identity secret.

What does that prove?

-Other people have seen inside the box too, A lot of people believe in my work also (points to internet).

Hello internet, have you seen inside the box?

-No. Do you work for Big oil? It's known that bid oil would do anything to stop his work for free energy, and that's why he has to be so closed lipped with his work (it is known). It's really ignorant of you to say that there is no god in the box. You haven't seen inside of the box. You're making a fool out of yourself by saying this. None of the scientists who attended demonstrations have concluded this to be an obvious scam. Do you think you're in a better position to judge the situation than them?

-You're probably just not well informed on the subject to dismiss it that easily. There is a mountain of circumstantial evidence in favor of it being real, and most of the criticisms raised against Rossi are unfounded.

-We'll know the truth eventually - in the meantime, claiming to have absolute certainty either way is foolish.

...I give up.

I thought this would be the last post in this this thread when I read it weeks ago. I am surprised the thread keeps getting bumped. Does anyone have anything to say that isn't in Woody's post?

Honestly, by now I just hope someone at NASA has a clue and eventually comes up with something good. They seem to be the only "credible" people still involved, even if they're going to use it for aeronautics.

You have technology that could change the world. Instead of taking a year or 2 to make sure you become incredibly rich, you would just give it away? I think I would kill myself if I ended up doing something so stupid. No joke.

People are so suspicious of this guy lol... I mean, just wait and see. No reason to start calling him a scammer until we see proof either way.

Well no matter what people say the guy works at a uni right? So at least he should be able to make a decent suitable presentation even if its a scam. Judging ONLY from this pdf Id say its more likely that the PDF is a scam and is not actually published by Nasa/Rossi/ what ever.
