Sounds like a great question for the FAQ. Traeon?

I don't particularly like how he worded the question, so I'll change it a bit:

Q: When will the testing at the University of Bologna and the University of Upsala or other independent verification start?
A: According to Rossi, after the delivery of his first 1 MW plant, the next steps would be starting independent testing. He has not specified a date. The contract with the University of Bologna is planned to last two years.

Sources: Avviso EFA srl (in Italian, EFA srl is a company owned by Rossi's wife), interview with Prof. Roland Petterson

Is "Don't know" a reasonable interpretation of this answer?

To clarify I'm pretty sure the question is asking for a specific date not a series of events after which we can expect some certainty.

I.e. : "By January 1st 2015 we'll know for sure" answers the question but "After the testing at the University of Bologna is finished" doesn't.

All fakes have been ruled out in the various experiments, BUT all fakes have not been ruled out at the same time. See the conclusion section of this:
http://lenr.qumbu.com/rossi_ecat_proof_v401.php

If he was genius enough to fake multiple ways of energy production + what was said here then he's probably one of the best scammers of all time.

It would be very comfortable to have a timetable but the question is naive because it's essentially asking when public consensus will accept it as real, that's why I decided to answer a slightly more concrete question.

Everyone would. However, that's not fair to my words. I did not suggest we should have a less rigorous scientific field -- I said we should refrain from enabling dogma to dictate criticism.

It's good that science "eventually gets it right", but that's a laughable excuse for people who discounted research like that of Joseph Altman based upon dogmatic principle alone. Rigor is good, but dogma is an example of what could be called the antithesis of rigorous, evidenced truth.

On topic: Hmm, I just realized I should probably add that on topic, I don't think any of this excitement will amount to anything at all. It might not be a malicious scam, but I don't expect to see anything come of it.

Does it really take one or more universities to do 2 fucking (yes, the f-word again) years of testing before everyone accepts it being a hoax / revolutionary technology?
Won't the mysterious buyer have something to say after a few DAYS of actually using the technology? I mean, they bought a plant, they do plan to use it, right?

No, it won't take them two years to make a statement. They could start next week and make an announcement in two weeks, but who knows when they will actually start?

Once started, I think it may take more than two years for the public to accept that it is real

Yea it wasn't the big revelation that we were hoping for and that it could have been. It was merely an acceptance test run for the customer of which some other people could get a glimpse of. But things should be moving forward more quickly now, regardless of whether you believe this is real or fake.

Good evening TL

Fox News has written an article on the e-cat story. While there are some errors it is nonetheless an important development - it's the first BIG media reporting. One paragraph also sticks out:

"Allan hinted on his blog that an unnamed “customer” of Rossi's device is a military organization that starts with an N. Rossi said this customer measured and verified the test -- and told FoxNews.com that Paul Swanson with the U.S. Navy’s Space and Naval Warfare Systems unit (SPAWAR) can vouch for the demonstration.

FoxNews.com spoke with a man at SPAWAR who identified himself as Swanson, and who said only that he was "not in a position to talk to the press." Several other sources within the Navy and the Pentagoneither declined to comment or did not return messages.

The Associated Press is supposedly also preparing an article according to the reporter present during the 1 MW plant test.

For those looking for a balanced and more intelligent article than the one from Fox News, look no further.

if this technology is working maybe a national army would want to stockpile these machines in great numbers to study it and get ahead of other competing armies. Like a secret weapon.

The US army was interested in Rossi's previous 'free energy' stuff.. but as you see here, they were burnt quite badly:

A report Department of Defense ordered on Rossi's supposed 'Thermoelectric Device Technology' whatever that is.. Highlighted some stuff, and while it might not be proof of a scam, I would certainly think twice before trusting this Rossi fella with my money.

Edit: Not that this has anything too do with his energy catalyzer to be fair. But still...

Edit2: http://dodfuelcell.cecer.army.mil/library_items/Thermo(2004).pdf (link to the report)

I doubt they would donate money to this guy again

Everyone should know this was a scam from day one. But people just aren't used to being lied to like that. We just can't believe someone would make such a bold face lie like that to our face.

But the saying is true, people will more easily believe a big lie then a small one. And people like this and Alex Jones exploit that to make there living.

You're making a fool out of yourself by saying this. None of the scientists who attended demonstrations have concluded this to be an obvious scam. Do you think you're in a better position to judge the situation than them?

You're probably just not well informed on the subject to dismiss it that easily. There is a mountain of circumstantial evidence in favor of it being real, and most of the criticisms raised against Rossi are unfounded.

We'll know the truth eventually - in the meantime, claiming to have absolute certainty either way is foolish.
