No, large middle class means every person has enough resources to invest in themselves and their children. Society with one pharaoh-like guy and 99 illterate and starved peasants is less productinve than a society of 100 Joes. Just look at history, Greek society was better than Egyptian, republican Romans were better than late empire Romans etc

Medias talk a lot about the middle class simply because it is the class in society with the most members atm (in Western countries at least), thus it's highly likely that the guy watching the TV or reading a newspaper is from the middle class, and doesn't want to hear about what a homeless thinks of law X or Presidential candidate Y.
Sure. And people overestimate the bounds of the middle class a lot to include themselves. Really, really rich people I've known have considered themselves "upper-middle class." Like, yes, you're not a billionaire, but you have a mansion, so honestly I'm unconvinced.
Securing their futures? I mean, women outside of college get raped too, but also make a lot less money on average in the long run.

I think it's more of the idea that instead of a bell-shaped curve, with most people having an income that feels equally centered between the super poor and the super rich (i.e., "feeling like a middle-class citizen"), the curve is becoming more and more skewed to the right... with far more people feeling like lower-class citizens, especially compared to how great the 1% wealthiest have it.

The solution to that isn't to stop sending women to college.
The solution is to raise boys (and girls) better and with a greater understanding of respect and tolerance and sexual responsibility, so that people are less likely to rape/ be raped at college/ other places.

All we need to do is teach boys between the ages of 18 through 22 to stop chasing pussy and the problem would be solved!

Education and respect need to be promoted far earlier than a person's college years.

Also, nothing is fundamentally wrong with chasing pussy as long as the boys learn to accept the other persons right to say no.

Agreed. Some people- regardless of sex- sometimes feel like hooking up or not getting into a serious relationship. People don't have to be monogamous, let alone all their lives (especially in high school/ college).
And that's totally fine, as long as it's consensual.

Everyone, including the upper 10% feel like they are middle class or lower. The truth is that there is no "middle class" since that is pretty much a relative thing.
Let me put it this way. Take a system where 1% has most of the wealth, and 99% live like shit. Now, because they are such a small part of the curve, you tell yourself "You know, if 99% is A and 1% is B, that 1% is really just an outlier that I can ignore." Look at that curve again removing the outliers, and you'll realize that even in a system where 1% has majority of the wealth--the standard of living for most people in that population is equal, making most of them middle class.
The reason for the popularity of the term "middle class" has nothing to do with actual bell curves or statistics--but with the perception of available and potential wealth amongst a demographic.
Middle class here in the US mostly means that they are not in the 1% and they are not in poverty. Everyone between the upper 1% and the lower 10% all feel that they are "upper/true/lower middle class."
Here's how it works. If someone can point at someone who is poorer and someone who is richer than them--they usually feel they are middle class. As such, upper/true/lower middle class is mostly about how many anecdotal examples you can point to who are above/below you in rank. And being that majority of the population all feel they are middle class--there is no reason the media can talk about the middle class needing help since everyone will always agree that they need help.

The middle class is economically important because they have a significant amount of disposable income but are also numerous enough to mass-market to.

Again, you have an assumption that "middle class" has a specific amount of income available to them. Middle class is the middle of the bell curve. They exist no matter how little disposable income is available.

You know that he's using the term to refer to a group of people with disposable income that also spend it on consumer goods. Reducing the argument to some definitional debate about what "middle class" means is missing the point. So stop assuming he's referring to some kind of median income bracket and listen to what he's actually talking about.

I think it's both on a relative scale and on an absolute scale, the latter occurring when families start to realize that they can't afford as much as they used to be able to, need to make cuts in their spending, etc. You're also assuming that there's necessarily a nice bell curve all the time when it comes to family income, and so even on a relative scale, as skewing to the right starts to occur, more people would be more likely to feel poor.

If I drive my space ship 10ft away from a black hole's event horizon and turn on the headlights, what do I appear to see?

A black hole. Your headlights have no significant effect on it or its appearance.
...
If you're positioned correctly, you can get some odd optical effects, like illuminating yourself with your own headlight beam. Orbit at exactly the right distance and pulse your headlights backwards once per orbit, and you can leave behind an almost stationary cloud of light that you pass through each orbit.
