Reminds me of a quote I saw 10+ years ago. 1 Samurai can defeat 1,000 Ninja 1 Ninja can defeat 1,000 Samurai.
problem with spartans is that they are very scantily protected. leather spandex and cape, seriously? j/k :p
Sacred Band of Thebes > Spartans What's more elite than 300? How about half their size. Sacred Band of Thebes is composed of 150 homosexual males (yes, it pertinent to mention they are homosexuals; they are selected because they are homosexuals). Defeated the Spartans every time they encountered. It took a total reformation of military arms and tactics in Greece before anybody to defeat them when Phillip created the sarissa.

Spartan! Bred to kill, the strong survive and the weak are left behind. I wonder how I'd adapt with my shitty sight. I'd prob just bullshit my way through the seeing tasks and develop a super sense of hearing.

Simo Häyhä
A.k.a. The White Death ( named by the Soviets )
![[image loading]](http://files.sharenator.com/Simo_Hayha-s585x360-11707.jpg)
" It was during the Winter War (1939–1940), between Finland and the Soviet Union, that he began his duty as a sniper and fought for the Finnish Army against the Red Army. In temperatures between −40 and −20 degrees Celsius, dressed completely in white camouflage, Häyhä was credited with 505 confirmed plus 37 unconfirmed kills of Soviet soldiers.[3][5] The unofficial Finnish front line figure from the battlefield of Kollaa places the number of Häyhä's sniper kills at over 800.[6] A daily account of the kills at Kollaa was conducted for the Finnish snipers. Besides his sniper kills, Häyhä was also credited with over two hundred kills with a Suomi KP/-31 submachine gun, thus bringing his credited kills to at least 705.[5] Remarkably, all of Häyhä's kills were accomplished in fewer than 100 days at a time of year with very short hours of daylight.[7][8][9] "
Finnish sniper in world war II, killed about 705-1000 men in WWII. Survived a headshot and had his jaw deformed from it.
" The Soviets tried several ploys to get rid of him, including counter-snipers and artillery strikes. On March 6, 1940, Häyhä was shot in the lower left jaw by a Russian soldier during combat. The bullet tumbled upon impact and exited his head. He was picked up by fellow soldiers who said "half his head was missing", but he was not dead "

I get somewhat annoyed when people talk about Spartans in the way that they are portrayed in 300. There are way more bad-ass city states out there in comparison to the Spartans.
Sacred Band of Thebes were undefeated against the Spartans. Athens and Platea actually defeated the Persians at Marathon. 10 000 against 100 000 and they suffered less than 200 casualties.
Thermopylae was actually fought with other city states there were about 1200 soldiers outside of the 300 spartan bodyguards of King Leonidas. Guess what was one of the city states that participated; Thebes.

Knights Templar
Gave up all wordly possessions to fight for what they believed in. Unwavering in believe even when the French decided to dispose of their Order.
The last Grand Master Jacques de Molay who despite torture and seven years imprisonment, on his day of judgement retracted his forced confessions and publicly declaring his believe in his Order. He was later that day to be burned at the stake and held his composure during the slow ordeal that people collected his ashes as a relic.
