But because they were funny about it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laconic_phrase Most of those AWESOME quotes you heard in 300 are actually true and come from the real Sparta. Yes! "One famous example comes from the time of the invasion of Philip II of Macedon. With key Greek city-states in submission, he turned his attention to Sparta and sent a message: "If I win this war, you will be slaves forever." In another version, Philip proclaims: "You are advised to submit without further delay, for if I bring my army into your land, I will destroy your farms, slay your people, and raze your city." According to both accounts, the Spartan ephors sent back a one word reply: "If." Subsequently, both Philip and Alexander would avoid Sparta entirely."

There was a bounty, if someone catched him. He helped in the great escape helping thousands of jewish people to Sweden. There was a bullet hole in a danish museum in Copenhagen. It was a group of Nazis chasing and shooting after him. He lost a bunch of friends and 'co-workers' during that time. He told my grandmother, that he was working late in a newspaper factory. He passed away 6 years ago, but he never really wanted to talk about what he saw or did, but in his last month, he really opened up. Or else ![]()

![]() The greatest warrior ever, Link! Just selflessly and more or less individually indulges on a quest to save everyone in the world from evil, ignoring the incredibly dangerous obstacles, and reaps none of the benefits of his quest! He saves everyone else, then goes off on his own again, no princess, no bounty, no fame! This guy fights undead and robotic opponents without even flinching. He kills a fucking dragon with a hammer, how much more badass can you get?
