Thread is about the various issues surrounding Japan in the aftermath of the recent earthquake. Don't bring the shit side of the internet to the thread, and post with the realization that this thread is very important, and very real, to your fellow members.
Do not post speculative and unconfirmed news you saw on TV or anywhere else. Generally the more dramatic it sounds the less likely it's true. |

Absolutely insane, best wishes to everyone caught in this. I have a few japanese friends over here and they're terrified

A fire has been declared in a turbine in another nuclear power-plant. Hopefully, it's just a turbine, nothing important. It's just that they will have troubles with electricity transfer, not with nuclear security for now.
For a totally different thing : Let us pray for everyone's lives right now. This is a very sad day. Good luck for everyone in Japan.

Korea wasn't effected by tsunamis at all. Japan acted as a barrier.

as far as german news tv is telling, there is no problem in any nuclear power plant - all reactors are already shut down and yes the fire is in an other buidling - so no problem on the nuclear side there. (well atm)

Oh god I just remembered my friend's in Indonesia

The japanese government just said there were for now 29 deaths. For now... This is horrible...
Also, there's a tsunami alert in New Zealand and in Equator...

I don't mean this in a bad way, but please don't bring that up. It makes this thread impossible to look at.

It's rather shocking how many disasters have been happening these past 3 months. Seems like the entire world is having weather problems this year. I hope Japan recovers quickly. Sad to see such devastation.

A nuclear plant can be permanently lost only if the core is damaged. Everything else can be modified.
It should not happen.
