Crisis in Japan - Page 159
Forum Index > General Forum |
Thread is about the various issues surrounding Japan in the aftermath of the recent earthquake. Don't bring the shit side of the internet to the thread, and post with the realization that this thread is very important, and very real, to your fellow members. Do not post speculative and unconfirmed news you saw on TV or anywhere else. Generally the more dramatic it sounds the less likely it's true.

![]() In general. Low areas' (cyclones) winds are blowing into center (cyclone eye) and acts as a vacuum cleaner. High areas' (anti-cyclones) winds are blowing away from center. We see a Low moving northeast away of Japan. In case of some imaginable radio-cloud to be released it will be "vaccumed" into it and taken away to the ocean. According to previous days maps, this L is newborn and will live quite a bit (at least 4 days). High area that was near Baykal yesterday is moving towards Beijing / south-west China. In case of potential radio-cloud H is some sort of a shield, blowing the cloud away. I'm only worried about newborn Low on top of map (it is east Siberia). Hope it will be moving towards Chukotka / Kamchatka and not going south or south-east.

Aside from that, I'm more worried about the japanese situation rather than the whole nuclear debate. This crisis seems more and more difficult and at first I thought that Japan would rise above it in a short period (month) and now, the specter of a lockdown of a large area in japan is growing bigger and bigger in my mind. I hope it's only the media that makes us believe such an awful scenario, but having here and there part of the world not fit for human to live in seems so unreal and sad.

"Breaking News: EU's Energy Commissioner says the situation at the Japanese reactor is 'effectively out of control'" "EU Energy Commissioner Günther Oettinger: There could be catastrophic events within the coming hours" Did anything in particular happen very recently, or is it perhaps because of the fact that they had to abort the use of helicopters to cool the reactors?

Fearmongering: Germany (because of upcoming elections and the hope that an anti-nuclear power point of view might swing things in favor of the current ruling party) France (because the japanese plants are from the US and not from France - any other reason for this?) Russia (Because their experts aren't let into Japan and to point the finger at someone to make Chernobyl look better?) Non-Fearmongering: Finland Japan United Kingdom Anything important I missed?
