Time spent training mining skills is time not spent training skills that are more profitable or fun. The time you spend mining is time that could have been spent doing more profitable or fun things. I realise that as EVE players it's not like we put a high value on our time but come on this is simple economic theory -e- also how could you ever advise anyone to mine imagine a market economy where people are reasonable and buy products at reasonable prices. now imagine that instead of a central authority printing money and controlling its flow, that you are able to legally print money yourself. that is what mining is. as kwark so clearly laid out, minerals basically = isk and mining is basically printing money. l2p please.

http://evemaps.dotlan.net/map/Curse/Doril#kills24 Right outside of our "home" of Sendaya lies Trolltown aka Doril. Four systems make up the "Doril Diamond" - Utopia, Jorund, Hemin, and Doril (obviously). A relatively large amount of action goes on in just this small diamond. Most of our action happens in Trolltown, but we've ventured to Jorund and Utopia which are both either completely empty or occupied by a large-ish alliance presence depending on the time of day. Jorund, in particular, is often the home of capital-trolling station games and gatecamps (ala http://ptsc.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=10344149). One place that we didn't have much to go on until recently is Hemin. Hemin is an interesting system geographically. Firstly, it's the entrance into the Curse Corridor that goes from Hemin to VOL- which is the most heavily trafficked system in Curse by far. Secondly, it's next to both Jorund and Utopia which, as I said, have significant alliance presences. Fortunately for the inhabitants of Hemin, they have a significant presence there themselves. Our past experience there has apparently been in off-times where we have lone Hurricanes and Myrmidons wanting to 1v1 our frigates. This should have been an indication, but it just didn't register with us. There is a gate (the RMOC gate) that is about 50 AU or so off the closest celestial in system. This is an obvious gatecamp opportunity for people that are too retarded to put 2 and 2 together (ala http://ptsc.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=10308067). -------------------------- Emdar and I happened to be available for Eve at an off-time for both of us one day (and oh boy was it an off time). So we went into Doril to see what was up. It just so happens that Bagarai was in a very expensive clone (why? probably just stupidity, really), so our excursion was appropriately named Operation Don't Lose Mah Pod. So we jump into Hemin and there are about 30 or so local. Right. We troll around the system a bit and eventually decide the fish are too big for us there (Rapiers, Cynabals, Zealots etc.). As I jump out of the system, Emdar reports a Dramiel that just landed on the gate - and it aggresses him. He decides that if I jump through and kill this Dram, it's worth the risk of losing his ship. I burn back to gate and jump through ASAP. And that's when it all goes wrong. As I jump in and lock the Dramiel we have landing on grid: Cynabal Hurricane Sabre Falcon decloaking various other shit, I stopped paying attention and I bravely GTFO and leave Emdar to his unpleasant fate ( http://ptsc.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=10374736). What happens next is pretty much unimagineably fail. + Show Spoiler [Dat Chat Log] + Bagarai Predador > MY POD LIVES Thosaurian > lol fail bubble BSL > wolf catched not fail DefMatrix Ultra > that's what a point is for, sir, not a bubble The Sabre pilot waits until the (scrammed-webbed) Wolf dies to drop the bubble - as the pod is warping out. + Show Spoiler [Artist's Impression] + ![]() Wolf catched - not fail! The Aftermath We both dock up in system and decide that fail-op is fail and log off. A few hours later, I log in to find out the situation and to move back to Sendaya. There are roughly 70 local, but I have gate safes so I'm not too concerned. In hindsight, undocking was a mistake because on grid were About a dozen Thanatos various Absolutions and Damnations roughly 1.5 billionty Hurricanes 2 Lachesis Rapier 6 (lol) Falcons Fortunately, they were either uninterested in me or totally shit and I got out and warped around to each gate. There was a small "camp" on each gate consisting of Dramiel, Sabre, and some T1 Cruisers. On every single gate they decloaked a Falcon as I landed on grid. The gates were all bubbled + properly camped so I planned to just troll my way out (standard Curse methodology). I warped back to a gate I had previously been to, Falcon decloaked and cloaked back up when he realized I wasn't in range (so smrt). I burned around like I was gonna fight the Dramiel and ended up warping to the gate once I had trolled everyone sufficiently off it. ---------------- Not too long after that, Weken takes an absolute abortion of a Dramiel into Hemin with expectedly fantastic results ( http://ptsc.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=10391343). Notice these aren't even SEDITION or blues of them - these guys and SEDITION constantly fight over Hemin. Speaking of SEDITION, I had a Malediction hanging around on a gate in Doril (trollolol) and a 5-man gang in local with him. I burned off gate, knowing that I am significantly slower than him and that he will get scram and web on me easily. I start shooting at him as he catches up to me, and he suddenly turns tail, overheats and warps off... That kind of thing gets on my nerves, and I've lately been harshly BMing people in local in order to get more fights rather than more blueballing. + Show Spoiler [Dat Chag Log] + DefMatrix Ultra > come on DefMatrix Ultra > tackle me for your gang DefMatrix Ultra > fail tackle DefMatrix Ultra > your malediction got in shield DefMatrix Ultra > and ran away DefMatrix Ultra > wat DefMatrix Ultra > well gf DefMatrix Ultra > i guess Welcome to the Red Square We were itching for a fight one day, and Doril was just empty. Solution: go straight to Blobville. http://evemaps.dotlan.net/map/Catch/HED-GP#kills24 http://evemaps.dotlan.net/map/Providence/T-RPFU#kills24 HED is our little EC- in the south. It's right next to hi-sec and is one of the most fought-over systems in the area. T-R is a couple of jumps away and has Russians, who are always entertaining if nothing else. Me (Slicer), Emdar (Slicer), and Weken (Cruor) made our way to T-R. Thankfully there were about 100 local when we got there. There was a lone brave Crusader that trolled us around a bit and finally warped to the station. It then proceeded to sit on the station at 0 waiting for us to attack it. Obviously we attacked it. Suddenly Proteus. We burn/warp off and get back into a reasonable position. We decide it's best not to aggress the guy at 0 on his station with 100 in local and like 7 people in space (including, of course, Erebus and a few Nyxes). To get the brave Malediction to tackle us, we had to resort to Speshul Taktikz. + Show Spoiler [Dat Chat Log] + KUZEN1972 > ЫЫ KUZEN1972 > 0 DefMatrix Ultra > POCCNR DefMatrix Ultra > внимание (*) Bagarai Predador > http://i.imgur.com/1eEh9.png (*) this basically means "you should be careful" or in a more disrespectful way "u scared?" POCCNR is a bastardization using English characters of the Russian for "Russia" Our plan was successful, and the Malediction started burning for us. We had previously made a mistake when fighting stuff (on this very station, actually) by letting tackle get >150km from the station to give everyone warpins. We corrected that this time, but didn't account for stuff warping in from the other side of the system. I bravely burned straight for the Malediction and was scrammed-webbed immediately (with Emdar and Weken close behind). Suddenly, grid starts exploding with stuff undocking from the station and soon after, stuff warping in from elsewhere in the system. A bunch of Drakes and 3 Scimis land, in addition to some Sabres and other junk. The Malediction's bravery wanes and he runs away, even while his shields are bumping up to full (rofl). He bravely gets out of scram range and I warp off and immediately gf local. Obviously, Emdar and Weken got out OK as well. Trolling successful. But we're still bored and want to make mails. So we decide to go through CVA space while we're in Providence. Long story short, we find a Dramiel who Emdar gets a fight with easily but who just keeps running away from him as his tank breaks. We decide to blab it to keep point so Emdar can claim his rightful kill. The guy calls us pussies. A Dramiel pilot calls us pussies after he runs away from a Slicer. Suck a dick, dude. My dick. Emdar burned out his MWD so we end the adventures without a mail sadly -__-. Later that day, Weken finds the same guy in Doril in a Dram again. He gets blabbed and owned ( http://ptsc.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=10405815). Fucking Dramiels. ------------------ Despite frequent warnings about Hemin, this happens ( http://ptsc.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=10403980). That is all. The Bravedini Chronicles Mandini has recently transformed into Bravedini and has contributed to proper killmails like this one ( http://ptsc.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=10394293). Pretty fucking brave, if you ask me. Mandini also bossed this fucker around ( http://ptsc.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=10394534) at 0 on a warp bubble, even though the guy was bait for a Falcon, Thorax, Cerberus and other shit in the same alliance. In addition, the troll gang was active in Doril so this happened ( http://ptsc.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=10394522). Unrivaled bravery. When the troll gang was active with a Keres + Kitsune, Bravedini bravely followed my orders to aggress it so we could get a glorious Kitsune mail. Unfortunately, Kitsunes are really fucking good against numbers less than 3, so we got this ( http://ptsc.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=10394619) instead. There is a Keres desperately pointing and TDing my Slicer that isn't on this mail. + Show Spoiler [Dat Chat Log] + Putrudius > def, when i learn how to kite, i hope i'm half as good as u. and i aint trollin. You actually literally have to disclaimer everything you say like this in Trolltown. It's in the handbook. On The Mechanics of Overheating Mandini is trolling around with me in Doril, and no one wants to play. So we naturally go to the station to play station games. And by station games I mean kill all of Initiative Mercenaries' bubbles because fuck those guys. A lone Ranis warps to the station and hugs it like it's his teddy. I go in, fire on shot and turn off my guns. The guy docks. Standard. He was going like <1k/s and he's a SEDITION faggot so I called him out in local. + Show Spoiler [Dat Chat Log] + DefMatrix Ultra > maybe fit a MWD DefMatrix Ultra > and you can do something Alabugin > yeah He wasn't offended enough imo, but I'll get back to that later because: suddenly Troll Gang. Trolly McTrollerton returns in his Ranis to have a go at me. We fight a few times off the station while Mandini and a cloaked Blackbird watch. Each time, I get him really low and he runs off (he's a bit faster than I am) and docks. Props to him for actually being one of the few people willing to fight, though. I burned out my MWD desperately trying to kill him that last time so I warped off and docked back in station. I figured I'd meet him on the undock and he'd actually go for broke this time since I started so close. Mandini confirmed that he was, in fact, sitting on the undock so I went for it. I undock and he's about 15k from me, so I think "perfect, I'll just overheat MWD away from him and we'll go at it". Except for one thing that I missed. I forgot to online my MWD before I docked. Derp. I switched immediately to Multifrequency, overheated, and prayed to the laser gods for Gallente blood. And they delivered ( http://ptsc.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=10475042). Turns out that Slicers do beastly fucking damage at close-range. + Show Spoiler [Dat Chat Log continued...] + DefMatrix Ultra > gf (first fight with Teleria) DefMatrix Ultra > gf (second fight) DefMatrix Ultra > that ship is pretty fast Teleria Valthis > not fast enough apparently Alabugin > lol Alabugin > you guys are so fake its hilarious Alabugin > U talk to your alt often Def? Once he discovered that I 2-shot drones, he deagressed and docked. He was a good sport, though. Not a Falcon in sight. /edit - the tags fucked up (or I did) and I cba to figure it out right now /editedit - fixed

Battle Report Saranen Hatch members tend to be too concerned with their iskies, so when the call went out for a null sec roam and no one answered, I decided to go it alone. I hit up the good ole dotlan map of Pure blind and sort by NPC ships killed to see where I can find some action (some people like to look for ships/pods but that just shows me where I'm probably going to die to a gate camp, not that it will stop me from going there, but it's not a priority). First destination: CR-AQH 3j into null. I land in the system, taunt the locals a bit, but the only person to bite is a drake. No thank you, I'll fight just about anybody, but I've got to be at least able to break your passive tank. Next destination: EL8-4Q 9j into null. I run into a spot of trouble in WW-KGD due to a couple canes who try to kill a frig without webs (what?) but I manage to burn my AB to the gate and I'm safely on my way. I arrive and start jumping around the belts looting all the wrecks, about 1min in my name is linked in local and I'm asked what the hell I think I'm doing. I say, "New to the game, just trying to make some money". Being the nice people they are, they begin to teach me the ways of null sec (seriously, I'm not talking about a fight here, they start listing rules to follow and shit). So I'm like, what will get a rise out of these guys? "I'm in a rifter, so if someone lands on me I can just warp out because they can't lock me in time." Local erupts in lols and I'm going, oh yeah that will make someone undock something. No beans, so I'm warping around and I finally catch up to the ratter who's in a FUCKING ISHTAR. Nope, peace. I leave system because I'm a bitch who values my rifter too much. Final destination (hurr hurr): DP-1YE 15j into null, but only 8j from sara. I jump into system and there are 8 local, including me. I'm doin me, landing on sun/planets and dscanning and I shit you not, dscan shows hulk/hulk/osprey/osprey/rorqual. I'm like a fuckin pit bull in that I'll attack just about anything, but it's nice to know what to do. I warp to the belt at 100 because noob life and I don't consider the possibility of them maybe thinking I'm there to kill them. They're mining... all of them. Check 360 dscan, nothing that hasn't been there already. At this point I'm crying in GA, someone, anyone please come help me take these people's money! No one answers the call. So I do what any noob pilot does, warp to sun and request in GA "about to land on belt at 0, please advise". Finally I get some help in the form of, kill the hulk he has 5k EHP. So, I primary the hulk and very shortly find a drake landing on grid with me, I dip mode out in 80% armor. So in local I type ((I've been paraphrasing up until this point, this is direct quote)) Risen Fem > gf Risen Fem > Sorry about hurting you, I'm just bored and wanted to do something :< They reply and say that I should do some of the anoms in system. What?! I just shot you, made you call in a drake, and now you're helping me? SYNCJesus > Why don't you go do stuff with your corp? Risen Fem > They're a bunch of pirates and our leader is a total dick gotta hold to the truth as much as possible if I'm going to hold to this deception ![]() SYNCJesus > You wanna join our corp? We do pvp, mining, anoms, plexes, whatever you want. Long conversation entailing where I need to go to apply, and how they'll help me right off the bat! Risen Fem > Sure, but can my friend join with me? SYNCJesus > Sure. Link? Not joking, I linked a random person from my contacts, didn't even think about it. SYNCJesus > You're not even in the same corp? Risen Fem > Oh, I got accepted to the Hatch and he didn't lol! :< Whole bunch of nonsense talk while I warp around the anoms and start crying in local about how hard it is, and OMG these things hit for so hard! Now we need to go back to my conversation in Ghost Academy these past 15 minutes. "Wtf people, someone come out here and help me kill this stuff. They have a drake defending them, it's me in local +6 of them, 5 are miners." Someone asks me if I'm on comms, NO, DIDNT THINK IT WOULD BE NECESSARY WITH THE AMOUNT OF ESTROGEN COMING THROUGH GA CHAT. But I get on comms anyways, because even without a mic I'd like to hear the cowardice in my own corp members voices when they explain to me that 8j into null through empty space is too dangerous to risk for a fleet of hulk/hulk/osprey/osprey/drake/rorqual. I grudgingly get on comms, and then I hear someone's beautiful voice. "Hey Risen, can you link location? I'm coming ot save you, I'm bringing exotic dancers too." Maybe it was typed, maybe it was said over comms, I can't remember much from that time... I was in a state of euphoria that someone would actually want to pvp. I'm actually pretty sure it was two people, but in my head it's one person. Regardless, our heroes of the night were the esteemed Karah Serrigan and the valiant Orandos. While all my chatter in local was going on, these two were fitting anything they had with whatever they could find (because lets move to Saranen, land of jack shit). Karah is forced to come in what can only be described as possibly the second manliest ship to have in a fleet (behind the rifter, of course)... a Caracal. In his own words the fighter is a frigate with a cruiser hull. Whatever man, haters gonna hate, u gotta sk8. Orandos has a fitted drake on hand, so there's our touch of imba to mix with our manly. Like new lovers our fleet awkwardly forms shape, and we find ourselves with me warping to the belt, them jumping into system. The call goes out "Warp to me on 0" and what ensues can only be described as a time of laughter. As they're in warp unholy hell breaks loose and I'm dropped almost to nothing faster than my prom date. Someone says GET OUT RISEN, YOU'VE DONE ALL YOU CAN! WE'LL TAKE IT FROM HERE! So I warp off. I let my repper bring me back to full armor and I warp back in. During this time they've mobilized a pitiful fleet to try and repel us and Karah/Orandos have managed to waste the Osprey, and with hero points the hulk. This unfortunately means we've managed to lose point on the rorqual, osprey, and hulk who manage to escape. A drake and rifter land on grid, and as I'm back down into armor I activate dip mode because local is spiking. I immediately warp to the 3V8-LJ gate and jump out. I repeatedly ask in chat if everyone has made it out while I'm on my way to the R6XN-9 gate. I'm abandoning the OP, there's just too much to take on with our small fleet. That's when I hear it... the heartbreaking chatter over comms of a man left behind. Karah's mighty Caracal is fighting with everything it has, but it's dropping fast. ABOUT FACE! Jesus fuck no, not the mighty Caracal! I'm in jump back to the gate Karah, just hold on. Don't go down like this! I jump through the gate just as I hear Karah begin to speak calmly to Orandos and I. He says it's been an honor, and given the chance he'd do it again. To keep fighting the good fight, and if his pod doesn't make it out, to let his clone know what happened. Through the static interference I hear Karah screaming murder. Orandos and I are with him the whole time as first his shields, and then his armor, are chipped away by what is now known to be his execution squad. It's a shame we lost that ship. It did good work for us. Thankfully, Karah's pod made it out and he's still with us fighting today. Bravest man I know, Karah is. The killmaill http://teamliquid.killmail.org/?a=kill_related&kll_id=10472848 At this point, Orandos and I are now almost trapped in the system. He's warping to celestials making safes, and I'm just sitting at the one safe I have (taken from Orandos ty sir). We're finally able to mobilize a fleet, because while a rorqual could not bring the bear from his cave, the tale of Karah's heroic struggle has stirred his heart (or something, idk just roll with it). And much like the bear, once The second killmail for those who care about such things. http://teamliquid.killmail.org/?a=kill_related&kll_id=10473169 Warning. Some moments of this epic struggle may be embellished. Quotes are used liberally, and without journalistic integrity. Next up, a pseudo-psychologist's look into the mind of a spai, and it's effects on him/those around him. I read the whole thing with an almighty grin. Well done sir. 5/5
