Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated =).
Considering the grindy nature and not so fast clear times, I might consider working on faction standings and doing normal missioning vs sansha while I skill up for a mach. Seems either way a good idea.
For now I'm indeed just bound to the paladin as the character had skills for it and has great armor tanking skills. Dps wise efting both the nm/paladin it comes with mostly similar results, both fitted with tachs.
On the note of missions and blitzing, declining missions only incurs like a 0.01% standing loss with the faction itself. And from my understanding from reading the faction repair plan the higher your standing the more you lose from that 0.01% (is the growth exponential from +0 to +10?). Does a +10 standing have an advantage over just hovering around 5.0, since I was under the impression all that mattered for lp gain was the system you were in not considering skills since all agent quality is now equal.
Following this, and faction repair plan it's pretty plausible to get both my minnie and amarr standing to 5.0, it will take some time but should give me access to every fraction from there on except the pirate ones. This might sound like madness thou...
Bit of carebear when it comes to missions, so I'll probably just switch to blitzing for proper lp gain in high sec only in a mach, for minnie it seems (fml -3.9 standing before diplomacy).
It's bit of long-term plan building on current short-term plans, but at least will keep me interested with a goal in mind. For pvp it was bit more straight forward with the help of bulletins. Rifter -> wait a while to fly cane semi-decent, still will take me a month T_T. Regardless this game is kinda awesome in amount of stuff to do and ways to go about it.

I'm using tachs, most ships pop outside 40km. I'm really too lazy to slowboat around picking up stuff. With alt in noctis it's kinda easy to just alt tab and salvage previous rooms in missions while paladin is popping stuff. Salvaging in noctis is also so much easier with rediculous range on tractor beams, usually I just need to adjust only bit with my ship to get in between all the wrecks and catch all loot from 56k away on 200k sp char.
I get the idea of marauders and the advantage to salvage on the go, but it just felt clumsy and dont see any point not to use my other account while pvp guy is training up.
I also fit a mwd on my paladin with tachs to get faster to gates.... or into optimal... while not looting....
don't hate please XD

You are correct, standings are exponential. Higher standings take a bigger hit and lower standings get a bigger gain. Faction standing above the required amount changes only mission isk reward, not LP. VoV is no missioner. However you can't decline too much without hitting agent standing -2 which is very easy to repair but can cause delays. Basically you can get away with only doing about 1 in 4 missions on average but if you get an unlucky string of missions you might have to accept a suboptimal one to avoid your agent standing getting too low. Of course equally if you get a string of good missions then your agent standing could give you a lot of buffer, it's just a rough guide.

So did they melt the servers, or are they up now?

rifter change? I think its just a artwork thing theyve been working on to show turrets better. And since a rifter only had (i think) 1 on each side, there would be no guns firing (visually in game) if the target was dead above it. I think... <.<

Moar randomness till servers come up again, I've been getting better at using eft, browsing loadouts on battleclinic and flying the paladin. I do still have some issues deciding on what to fly actually. As stated the character had great armor tanking skills and watching ascend on youtube made it look easy.
From my understanding tho, shield tanking is regarded to be superior for pve atleast, and also I've red numerous times the Nightmare/Mechariel were considered to be the to go ships for pve. Considering I could also sell the paladin and fly a nm instead, I've been trying to determine if it was worth it. My skills allow for them both to be flown about equally. IV's on some end skills.

Basicly the NM gives slightly better results with same goal and is shield tanked. adds 0.005% more tracking before tracking enhancers, but is considerably more expensive while also having a worse cap management. Agility wise, the paladin is actually better if only by a small bit.
On the NM some mid slot could be dropped in favor of a cap booster instead since powergrid allows for it, but not sure how that would work. TC for TE, more gank less tank etc. Choices, choices.
Now both fits might be potentially shit, but since MWD's are allowed and a +0 cap one is fairly cheap (in comparison to other deadspace best stuff), why not fit one always. Sofar I've only understood that it blows up your sig radius, but afaik that shouldnt matter on a bs sized ship, and you'll only be pulsing it from time to time.
For now I only had trouble in worlds collide on sansha side in their room on the paladin with the tank, aggroing 2 groups and shitload of frigates at same time while getting tracking distrupted.
On the note of tracking distruption, how in the world did anyone design jamming to have 20 second duration in this game, I mean even following eve survival 'blitzing' the mission I got jammed from like 100km away by this raven type pirate ship, I know I fly a marauder but still, holy balls..... 100km? 20s? /cut wrist

That Nightmare fit is stupidly expensive.
Also, a Mach moves like a cruiser, has sig like a cruiser, has the agility of a cruiser, and the DPS of a joke ship (because that's what it is).
Mach > everything else

If you fit that up, we WILL come and suicide gank you. Just sayin.

Definately going to join this once the game comes back up ^^

Well, probably won't be back up for the rest of the night.
Also, screw you guys the Nightmare is great for pvp

I wanna use a shield tanked Vindi in our fleets, its can get 2000dps overheated!!

Mach > everything else This. If you're not blitzing l4s in a mach for a high LP mission corp then you're burning isk, whether you make your money from exploration, l5s, manufacturing or even wormholes.
