They managed to refresh stuff really well over time IMO

aside from some random low poly objects, or times where something like an asteroid is really really huge but still using the same texture resolution as the asteroids that are like 1% of the size

These kind of threads always feel kinda whiney to me. Basically every aspect of the game that requires some hard choice or trade-off will be challenged under the guise of not fitting into the lore or in this case be bashed because it forces you to make a choice and stick with it for a while.

Complexity doesn't equate to interest if it's just another hoop to jump through, and the real interest in skill training are the opportunity costs involved in choosing one skill over another, not fiddling with parameters to try to maximize SP/hr.

I agree and would like to add that pushing people to prioritise supports early over ships and guns is generally bad game design,

A big "problem" underlying a lot of the sense of progression in EVE is that the choices you're given quite often boil down to "do I get really rich and progress faster or not?" + Show Spoiler +
Translation for Rise: "interesting choices"
The attribute system, remapping, support/weapons dichotomy, character bazaar etc. all make this "choice" easier but in a somewhat crippling way for a new inexperienced player.

One of the reasons that GSF etc. are so big is because they offer a new player experience. They remove the player responsibility for the overhead of making many of the decisions present in the game (with regards to game mechanics, ship supply, what to do etc.). They ease a lot of people into the game that would absolutely not have transitioned on their own.

CCP should see their success (in terms of retention) and consider changing or removing some of these mechanics which primarily hold back newer rather than older players. There is plenty of gamespace in EVE for older, more experienced, richer players to shit on everyone else.

I even think new players should get more skillpoints. CCP would probably make a killing if they gave new characters a lump sum of SP 3 months after creation.

I spent my first 3.5 months on an int/mem remap training core skills. During that time i also learnt a chunk of solo pvp, getting down the basics with about 80k sp in gunnery and ship command.
It's a pretty terrible experience, having my primary interest gated by sp, so I ended up quitting for a long time. When I resubbed I finished off core skills and finally went into per/wil remap, and that was a huge improvement.

I think the original design for the SP system was meant to allow players to skill their characters in their own unique ways, similiar to old games such as ragnarok online or diablo 2. However, with the advent of modern gaming, people learnt that there are only a few real viable options, anything else is suboptimal or a waste. In eve, everybody learns the same set of skills to optimize whatever activity they are interested in, thus making the concept of having a unique personal character moot.

With all that said, I still do feel a sense of attachment or satisfaction with my characters, but I might be in the minoority for that.

The eve SP system is absolutely ridiculous and frankly the game would be much better if players started out with 10-20m sp.

I know I should have bought a better character on the bazaar 2-3 years ago, but I didn't for exactly this reason. I still could.....

So how much did he make if you subtract all the paid interest? Seems like a lot of effort, running this scam over 2 years, constantly defending it on a forum. His hourly rate is probably lower than just running incursions or actually doing trading..
