Maybe the fact that it got leaked was actually a move on bioware's part.
Regardless, it might just turn out for the good. The amount of hate it's getting might make bioware rethink shit

I wonder if there is someone out there that just randomly puts in the URL for videos using the "achive_popout?id=" and then adding numbers, until he find something interesting.

Actually, JTV has a nice feature that auto-saves everything into an archive of both privately streamed sessions and publicly streamed ones. So while you might have been streaming Star Wars privately. The moment you open your channel back up to the public, it allows ANYONE to see what you have been streaming beforehand.

The only way to prevent people from seeing your stream history is to go to your private settings and enable Allow NO ONE to see my streaming history OR you just have to delete all your privately streamed sessions manually after you're done and BEFORE you stream publicly.

Edit: OR anyone with access to your private stream can see your history too so if you have a friend that gave the password to your stream to another friend, BAM, he can see everything if he goes through the archive. And the reason it got saved to OTHER channels is because I assumed you have the option "Allow viewers to highlight my videos" enabled which will let people save portions of a stream they like as a sort of personal favorite video to go back to, but they can share the URL with others so they can see it too. Hopefully I'm making sense? I know JTV in and out since I was one of the first broadcasters to use the site when it went live a year and a half ago.
So wait? I'm bad? =(

MMO. It's supposed to come out 2011/2012.

Was announced spring 2011. We know that's not quite true anymore, probably to let WoW eat itself up a bit more and not to clash with the 50 other mmos that came out this year.

I don't get why people say this game looks terrible. I think it looks pretty good considering they need/want something that most people will be able to run and that you might eventually have tons of players duking it out.

I'm wondering if a Xmas release is realistic for them at this point. Timing wise I think it would be fairly solid.

Edit to clarify:

MMO's often aren't held to the same standards as say a single player experience. When you release an MMO players expect to be able to play with as many friends possible. When you have friends that are going to have to wait a significant amount of time to upgrade to be able to play, it works for single player games, it can kill an MMO. I know for a fact that this has hurt some MMO's because they didn't run nicely on most computers. Vanguard and Aeon just to name some off the top of my head.

Heck when I still played WoW, I knew people who couldn't raid with 25 or 40 people without having framerate go to crap and that game looks significantly less polished in many ways.

If you want shiny/sick looking I'd try something like Force Unleashed, if you want a functional MMO, I think this is shaping up quite nicely.

interesting to see how the multiplayer will work (whether you can play as any sort of character or will "force" characters just be imba and no one plays normal soldiers.
of course release isn't until mid 2011

The only thing that didn't bleed awesome in that trailer was the tackling of Sith. That would not happen, just, no.

If Force users aren't all powerful. Or Order 66 would have never worked. Sith are just as powerful as Jedi. The only thing is that people often think their all powerful because of the the movies. The Movies display the master and the apprentice. The sith killed each other out in their own strive for power, so only the 2 strongest survived, Master and Apprentice. So these were challenging to fight.

Yes, and usually, the apprentice would kill his own master when he feels he's grown enough.

The fun part about The Old Republic and it's series is that they set things sooooooooooooooooo far in the past from the movies that they are practically super movie nerd proof. I'm sure they have consultants, but they have a ton more freedom than say... Force Unleashed.

"Oh a Sith in the movies wouldn't fight that way, have that power, stop to pick up daisies for a quest? Well guess what this is 10000 years in the past of the movies things changed!"

I think that's an important point. MMO releases are BAD in almost all cases. WoW was horrible at release with bugs, server stability issues and not really that high end content. PVP basically didnt exist at all (yes you could PvP, but no incentive but pure fun) and PVE was Molten Core which consisted of people spamming one button (Decursive, since raide wide debuffs were awesome) and fun stuff like an OOC rezzer. Apart from that - mainly tank & spank.
Every WOW expansion (dont know about cata) had it's bugs in raid instances & quests even though there's this multimillion project behind them.
AoC had this horrible leveling gap where people were forced to grind. LotRO also had it's fare share of problems.

If you expect a bugfree & stable & perfect MMO release with SW:TOR - do yourself (and everyone else) a favour and wait 2-3 months until you purchase the game. It's just the way MMOs work.

I saw an interview in which they mentioned it being set so far in the past and a dev basically said: "We can more or less do whatever we want, as long as we put the universe back together when we're done."

I feel iffy about the small amounts of gameplay I've seen. Current technology and internet speed available to the average user probably limits just how drastically the MMO wheel can be reinvented at the moment. I like the "tons of other people" aspect of the genre, but some times devs just can't do stuff with the gameplay that's viable in a single player game right now.

That's the interview.

I think it looks a lot like WoW except it doesn't have the universe to back it up like warcraft did. Personally I find the star wars universe to be super boring, it can't decide if it wants to be realistic like star trek or fantasy driven with jedi/visions. Couple that with a lack of strong lead characters, and I think it makes for a boring RPG (KOTOR, I'm looking at you.. The whole reason I played you was to get a light saber..)

Wait what? One moment you say it doesn't have a universe, then the next you say the universe is boring...

Also I'm not sure you're aware but the Star Wars extended universe it absolutely MASSIVE, the potential for the story telling is virtually limitless.

How are you sure there are no strong lead characters? Have you personally played through the story? What can you tell me about it?

In honesty, your opinion is yours and I have no right to say against it, but I would at the very least expect you to educate that opinion to make it even remotely valuable. /endrant

I'm sorry, this post is like 99.999% opinion on the Starwars universe.

Ok, let me extrapolate. It doesn't have a worthwhile universe to experience because it's so contradicted in what it's trying to do (in my opinion of course). I have never felt engaged to any of the alien races in any starwars universe, and I've only liked liked a few of the human characters (and the animated clone wars series was actually really good, contrary to my initial doubts). I much prefer 40ks universe for scifi, just because the race and culture of the universe is so much more defined and interesting, rather than just "we are the rebellion, we magically usurped the strongest empire in the galaxy with stick, stones, and fairy dust. i'm sure glad the empire's greatest engineers didn't defend a glaring hole in their defense matrix two times in a row."

I don't respect a lot of the extended universe because to be honest most of the novels COMPLETELY suck, just like most of the starcraft/warcraft ones do. Lucas sells their licensing rights to half ass writers who churn out pseudo-canon material, which I don't respect or recognize just like I don't respect or recognize Blizzard's "extended universes," because it doesn't do the original material justice. In terms of the games that have expanded the universe, I agree that some of them do add more depth to it but they weren't in my taste, I didn't like KOTOR 1 or 2 for this reason. Thinking back, I can only name one planet that I went to in KOTOR which was Daggoth, because it's the only one that really stuck out to me. Now if I think back to Starcraft , I can name you planets, what they looked like, and their importance in the story line. I can also tell you characters, sub characters, and motives, where as I can only remember that the villan in KOTOR's name was Revan. And it's not that I just know a lot more about Starcraft than I do about KOTOR, I can list the same things for any other good game(hell, even megaman, castlevania, and mario..) The canon just isn't that interesting in my opinion, so it doesn't stick, and it makes a boring game in the long run. Maybe I'm just jaded because I don't like Biowares story telling tactics, but I can never get into their games and thus I never get into Starwars material.

KOTOR:
Taris (starting planet)
Dantooine (jedi academy)
Tatooine (the same from the movies, sand people)
Kashyyyk (wookie home planet)
Korriban (sith academy & ruins)
Manaan (maybe misspelled, the waterplanet)
Star Forge (unknown planet)

There was no "Daggoth" planet in KOTOR. So if that is the only planet which stuck out to you ... well - what should people tell you...
You just dont pay attention.

Actually - googling Daggoth:
"Daggoth, the Overmind's right hand and one of its greatest cerebrates, was the master of the Tiamat Brood, the largest and most powerful brood within the Zerg Swarm. "
Yeah, your SC knowledge really seems awesome, if you mix up SC related lore with SW

Edit: Just to clarify - I'm not a huge SW nerd. I played through KOTOR 1 twice, and KOTOR 2 once. Read some books when I was way younger (>10 years ago) about Admiral Thrawn.
Maybe the SW universe just isnt the right thing for you (which isnt something bad). I personally am not a big fan of 40k - it's just fantasy WH in space. Pretty boring.

Well, I must say I used to be super pumped for TOR (as I'm a complete sucker for all things Star Wars and KotOR series are one of my favorite games of all time) and then, when I cooled off a little and started to look at it with more insight I have realized a couple things:
1. I don't like the graphical design.
Movies look great but in-game graphics seem too cartoonish for me (Clone Wars series are awesome, but I'd leave this type of graphics for that), especially characters.
I'd like it to be more dark, down-to-earth if you will. Allowing for better immersion.
2. Once again people fail to use the potential SW universe gives you.
I mean, if they made episodes 1-3 of the movies about Quinlan Vos and showing the rise of the empire from this perspective it would be god damn awesome (and PG13 rating would be fully justified).
3. I don't like the classes.
I hate it that after Diablo 1 every single character class in cRPG is some speciality. I'd love to see some very basic classes, with possibility to get a prestige class later on. SW pen-and-paper RPG has 5 starting classes and a gazillion prestige classes you can develop into when you level up some and meet the requirements. That's nice as it doesn't restrict you from the get go, lets you familiarize yourself with the game before you choose to follow a certain path etc.
4. Why choose Republic/Empire at the start?
Why not give people freedom to choose by supporting certain faction (doing quests for them etc.) or staying neutral?

So many wasted possibilities...

I mean, right now this game looks as if it's aimed at 12 year olds, when it should be aimed at:
a) majority of the MMO player demographic (26-35 years old)
b) people who grew up with Star Wars (as above)

I don't mean outright gorefeast, twi'lek boobs all over the place and stuff like that. I mean something else than what currently looks like arcade style RPG.
Time is precious. Waste it wisely.

Tons of people are saying this game will fail miserably, but I can't figure out if they are true mmo enthusiasts, star wars haters, wow fanboys, or a myriad of other possibilities. For those who aren't interested in dealing with an MMO during its release, I encourage you to wait on the reviews and make sure the game is for you. For those of you who plan on playing on release, please don't sit back and wait on buying the game, you'll only be harming the chances for the game to succeed. And really, if the game sucks, and you don't think it's worth renewing after your free month, then it'll be like every other major MMO released in the past 5 or so years, so what else is new?

Well, I must say I used to be super pumped for TOR (as I'm a complete sucker for all things Star Wars and KotOR series are one of my favorite games of all time) and then, when I cooled off a little and started to look at it with more insight I have realized a couple things:
1. I don't like the graphical design.

i don't know where you're getting this information from but from the footage i saw in the torrent video pack a few posts up i would say the exact opposite. it's definitely not aimed for a young audience like you're describing. i'm sure there will be 20 million human jedi warriors named heeeroo, but find a game where that doesn't exist
