Lag happens, the game is fine. If you disregard the framedrops whenever a new area is being rendered (I run on a mediocre computer with everything on lowish.) but as long as it doesn't interfere with combat I'm fine with a little lag/framedrops in MMOs.

The awesome part of the game is the questing, it feels like your doing a linear solorpg (much like kotor but with different combat mechanics) but there are still a lot of grouping and instancing to be done so you won't have to do it alone if you don't want to. I never actually got dull of the quests them self even tho most of them where generic each mission had a goal and a little storyline that acted as a carrot on a stick for me.

I've pretty much only covered questing up to level 25 as a jedi knight sentinel and the questing flow and combat is sooo delicious. the small things like the animations make combat so great and its not easy! I forced myself into learning a decent rotation and key bind everything to beat some packs and elites. One elite had me beaten just cause I've forgotten to bind my interrupt spell and I was working out ways to increase my dps and efficiency during my travels just cause it felt like I had to do it. Now it should be mentioned that I didn't do a single group quest until level 24 so I might have been on the bare minimum on some quests but still its challenging and great, hell I even got frustrated once! I have never been frustrated over dying to a mob in a mmo before so it felt great!

The only thing I dislike about the game is that I have to go to sleep and my weekend beta will end way to soon cya on retail!

Anyone else like the game, but going to wait to buy it? I don't feel like it will be at the same price model awhile from now, and while I really have enjoyed playing bounty hunter and I'm gonna finish off the beta weekend, I'm not really excited enough to put 60 + X dollars of monthly fees into this. I wouldn't be shocked to see price model change after a good 6-12 months, so gonna see what I have to play at that point then look into getting in on it.

After you get level 10, how do you participate in pvp? There doesn't seem to be an option in the top, maybe I'm just missing something really obvious.

The pvp queue is at the bottom right of the minimap!

Haven't played a MMO in FOREVER and played this today. Forgot how hard MMO's are to control with being left handed and a non 5 button mouse .

This game IMHO is getting way over hyped. First off, the graphics suck as of right now and its less than a month from launch. The gameplay is somewhat stale and gets boring and repetitive very fast. Overall the game seems very easy. I played about 30+ hours on 2 weekend betas so far and I am unimpressed. I think this game is gonna be another MMO that lasts for about 6-12 months then slowly loses all of its subs. Sad too, I've been following this game for over 2 years now and was pretty hyped about it myself before I played it.

Damn when I don't enjoy something I can't play it for 30 hours I commend you sir.

I personally have been very impressed with the story. While the combat is the same as every MMO its not terrible (really wish it was better of course ) but loving everything else.

Story and god haven't been into an MMO like this since Star wars galaxies. After playing for probably easily 20 hours friday/saturday combined I can not wait for this game to be released and start as the jedi (I will admit I will miss my sith warrior and having to restart him at some point in the future, really like the companions and story :D).

December 20'th can't come fast enough or whenever I get early access
When I think of something else, something will go here

Does anyone happen to know a general hotkey layout that's MMO friendly but also accommodates for lefties without 5 mouse buttons? I'm having A LOT of issues using 1 for striking while WSAD'ing for movement and figured if anywhere would know it'd be TL.

gayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too many people here have said what i dreaded the most as soon as i heard bioware bought out mythic. Warhammer was a piece of shit game and this merger surely has been the nail in the coffin for bioware. They didn't show the slightest bit of competence in game design/balance in WAR, and now it seems this is the same game but with starwars reskin pack.... =/

I got to level 12 as a sith assassin and i did notice bits of Mythic's poison dotted about in this game already which made my insides cringe. I tried to ignore it cos i'm well up for a star wars game and have been consciously in denial about my fears. But now there's too much evidence to ignore anymore...

God damnit the starwars fanboy in my is bitterly crushed FU MYTHIC FU BIOWARE.

This game is awesome. I quit playing after lvl 10 because I didn't want to drive myself crazy waiting for the real game to be released. Must buy for me.

So, got the chance to play a bit again for a couple of hours and make up my mind on wheter to buy it or not. Well, for now I'll skip that purchase. I'll miss that spark, that special thing that sets this game apart from others.

Played on and off all day today (while watching sc2 of course), some thoughts... Played as a Jedi Consular, got to 11 so far:

Pros:

1. I was more focused on the story than the leveling. I'm not a huge story fan but if it's told right, I'll listen and enjoy (bioshock, skyrim, dragon age 1, etc I've enjoyed a lot story-line wise). The Jedi Consular storyline was fun enough to really be able to get into it. I felt like I was playing a single player quality game in a multiplayer world, and that was new to me (and a good thing IMO, but I'm not hugely social in MMOs typically).

2. The skill set I got to use for the first 11 levels so far has been a lot of fun. Ripping something out of the ground, tossing it at a mob, and rushing up to slash it in the face with a lightsaber is fun for me, along with an aoe damaging push and some other fun toys to play with (just got stealth, haven't done much pve with it yet, but hopefully fun).

3. Bioware style choices. I like conversation choices. They didn't seem to have the hugest impact but at least they were there. I gained a sense of personality from my character from them. One time I choose something accidentally and it totally threw it out of wack because it just didn't sound like who my character was anymore. I like that.

4. Solid networking. There was some lag right at the beginning with everyone in the same zone, but soon enough, it was mostly lag free for me, even with seeing a lot of people coming and going.

5. Polish. Reminds me of WoW beta. Felt polished, but doesn't compare to today's standards WoW has set (not that any new mmo ever will). I think it feels a bit more polished than Rift did in beta. I'm confident if they get a good subscriber base it'll become extremely well polished.

6. Crafting. This part kind of blew me away. I'm not a huge crafter, but the idea of letting your followers go out and do stuff for you, then they get back and you can craft things with what they found... love it. Gotta get up and go afk for a few? Send your followers out, they might be back by the time you get back. I was able to turn my lightsaber from green to blue with some blue rocks my follower found me. Might not be great for the hardcore crafters but for me it was a perfect solution.

Cons:

1. PvP. I don't know if there are other modes but I played a round of this "soccer-like" pvp. I consider myself a PvPer in that I always lean towards PvPing over PvEing when I can. This was a HUGE disappointment for me. I thought it was pretty terrible. I hope I just haven't gotten a chance to play some hidden good pvp mode but this one was terrible.

2. Graphics. If they release higher res textures, this complaint will go away 100%. Everything besides the textures is pretty nice, especially for mmo standards. The textures though feel like late ps2 / early 360/ps3. Maybe the wii would rival them. It's hard to get immersed in a game wish such visually poor textures when you've been playing the likes of skyrim maxed on a PC.

3. Bugs. Beta beta. Hope they're all squashed. The mouse sensitivity can't be changed it seems. I even found the ini file and tried to change it there, nothing. It's super high for me when holding right/left click and turning, but correct when just moving the mouse around, so I can't just lower the sensitivity of my mouse or i'll throw off my sc2 game. Big complaint here but I'll assume it'll be fixed.

4. In game community. I hope this fixes itself quickly. I know beta brings out the worst people but at least in the Rift beta people weren't WoW-bad. Lots of kiddies and trolls spamming chat here. I'm afraid the game will be fun/accessible enough to keep them around

5. Atmosphere. Most places have been pretty awesome. A few had uninspired music constantly playing... like in New Hope where Luke steps into that bar for the first time (been a while since I saw it, going on memory)... there's this silly/cool sounding music that sets the tone for it being a rough bounty hunter type bar. Well, they tried to replicate that in a few different places I've been too, and it feels uninspired and annoying. Loved it in the movie, hate it here.

Anyway, going to try out bounty hunter tomorrow and maybe some other class.

Agree with everything but the community. At least in my experience, the community was nice. Everytime I asked something in general chat, people would answer and try to help. I didn't see much spam aside from the LFG/LFM's (No looking for group system? goddamnit).

I'm interested in the game but haven't decided if it's worth the money. We'll see.

I'm undecided on purchasing this pre-release or even right after release. If it didn't have a $12-15/month sub, then I would get it just for the stories. But with the paid sub, I don't feel it's worth it.

The storylines are cool, voice acting is surprisingly good for a video game, and the quests themselves are well implemented. It's just the overall gameplay itself is very stale - no creative steps were taken to make this any different from WoW in that regards. Will have to wait for GW2 to actually really enjoy the gameplay (hopefully)

Just wanted to say, I've put in probably around 30 hours and the game has literally never dropped below 40 fps ( averages around 80 fps ) on my laptop with maxed settings. As far as latancy goes, I've noticed it lagging maybe 2 or 3 times total and that was only for a couple seconds each time. I have no idea why so many ppl are bitching about performance.

I don't even like the Star Wars story line that much, to me it's kind of corny, but that being said I really like the way this game tells it's story and it actually makes me care about it a little bit unlike every other mmo. I'm not just flying through quests completely oblivious to what's going on around me, just to get that next level or that next item. I actually care about the story, not the levels or the gear .. which is a really nice change and something SWTOR can say only they have done in the MMO field. Also the companion system is pretty unique to me, I know a few other games have tried something similar ( Everquest had mercs ) but this feels completely new and different for the MMO genre and I like it a lot. The crafting system is also very different from every other MMO I have ever played, so far I really like the way it works ( having companions farming for me while I'm grinding dungeons ftw ).

I will say though, a LOT of the game is pretty copy and pasted right out of WoW, even the talent tree for a sith sorc healer is almost identical to a disc priest from WoW which is pretty disappointing. The more I think about it though I feel like these similarities are almost unavoidable, and I'm not sure changing shit just to force it to be difference is always a good idea. What really disappoints me the most about this game is they are actually behind WoW in a lot of spots. No random dungeon finder, which makes forming groups a huge pain in the ass. No macro system at all ? No Mod system at all? It's also easy to see flying will most likely never be possible in this game, just the way the zones are layed out.

I'm still having a lot of fun playing, and I won't be canceling my pre-order because the game is different enough to be a huge breath of fresh air from WoW. And the story and scenery is very well done and interesting, also the combat feels a little different ... I can't put my finger on it exactly I just feel like I'm much more mobile in SWTOR than in WoW.
Don't argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I'm loving this games story. The first instance/real group play is well done and the story involved is really engrossing. There are many scripted cutscenes and dialogue choices for the group. I really don't understand how end game is going to work though. If it is all story and scripted, one run through would be enough followed by a 1-12 run for the beginning stories for each class. I hope there is something substantial for end game or else this will not be something that has lasting replayability.

Bounty Hunter healer....WTF! Buts thats what I did. And will do. Low level healing is a joke in every game but if the talent tree is any indication it gets alot more fun.

Also like the boss fights. They start you out with obvious mechanics right away(fire=bad, whirlwind attack=bad, ect).
