Related question, do you get more companions? :< Each class gets 6 companions (one is the droid with your ship which is non-combat but can be kitted to heal if you're desperate - not worth it). I believe Ashara is a high-dps melee companion, my friend is an inquisitor and uses Ashara and seems to do really well with it. You'll get her a little later through your class quest. Plus you can romance her if your char is male ;D | ||

Its so frusterating that im having a hard time wanting to play on my lvl 42 and ive been playing on my alt on the empire side. Especially now that i know their is a neutral AH and that even if you make a sith on the same server hes still part of your legacy and earns you legacy xp to the same bar. Another thing i defintely noticed though that ive heard bioware say they are going to change, is the maximum server population, they said they will do it once the server pops even out more (which it seems like they have, i dont see any servers that have light population mid day anymore at least on US west) but there is no way that the server pops are 10k concurrent users like in wow, im thinking maybe 3-5k MAX and they really need to change that. Ive heard them saying they will and I really hope they do even if queue's die down. Anyone else have any insight into max server population, i really dont beleive that its over 5k. | ||

Really fucked off with this thread, it gets people coming in here and typing out 1000+ word replies to purely shit on the game or say WoW is better. I really dont give a shit about your "point of view" - we've all logged in, we've seen the graphics, the gameplay, the everything. Anyone who hasnt has or is watching streams, real reviews etc, not coming to TL thread for your crappy view of it. (Sure they might come to ask the odd specific question.) Fruscanite is still in here trolling happily i see, the boy who has typed 30k+ words in this thread saying how bad it is -_- You all seriously need to get a hobby if this is how you spend your time. Fuck yeah, thats tatooine ^_^ mug'thol US had 8k-10k concurrent players for almost half a year around 6pm so it's not like he is exaggerating anyways im on nadd's sarcophagus and we have like 4 sith for every republic i really hope they open xfers or something to fix it (seems swtor servers have about 2k) also just because people are criticizing some aspects of the game doesn't mean you have to throw a fuss and defend it to the death etc etc | ||

I've watched videos and seen reviews but TLer's are awesome so I have to see what they think. After all, we think the greatest game of all time is Starcraft. I played WoW for 6 years on and off. I just don't want to get sucked into an MMO like I did with WoW. | ||

The information I read + personal experience; Empire out number Republic 6:4 mostly, worst case being 7:3 and best case 5:5. I happened to pick a server that initially was really imbalanced, but now has a respectable Republic pop, Bondar Crystal(US-E). Also found out that the server Veela is a U.S(E) republic hot spot, and a lot of the Sith guilds went there for good queues, this is one of the most balanced servers for US(E). I'd suggest anyone U.S making republic to play on these servers, they run at heavy-full(10min queue most), the rest I cannot attest to. I also decided I'll play one repub and one empire toon; at late hours, Republic numbers are low so Empire get huttball a lot, so I log on my Repub for better queues, an easy fix if you don't mind having an alt. The servers are stabilizing though, If my server was able to shape up, there's hope for the rest of you who have already committed. Empire are bound to outnumber Republic by some margin though, the dark side + aesthetics are too cool  P.S People who haven't bought this yet, I'd vouch for it, it's a great game, lots of new features, and a lot of the same solid ones. However, the have already said there will be a ton of new stuff/fixes incoming now that release is done with, so it may be worth waiting 1-2 months for a better/smoother experience. | ||

But it's Star Wars. A lot of people are there just to swing a lightsaber. And (hyperbole alert) to some people, the Jedi is the guy that helps the old lady across the street (or risks falling to the dark side, oh noes). The Sith finds the old lady's known relatives and murders them all just for laughs (they were traitors to the Empire anyways... most likely). People like blowing shit up. Lots of people wanna be the evil jackass. That's why every other teenager that's made a clan/guild in any game ever uses some variation of evil/death/skull/dark/black/doom/shadow.... you get the picture. You don't run into the Forthwright Paladins of Integrity guild all that often... and when you do it seems more likely to be RPers, furries, or 'casuals.' Example of stereotypical guild names in the first panel: http://thenoobcomic.com/index.php?pos=195 It doesn't help that one of the Jedi starting quests is essentially "ohmahgawd, Jimmy and Jenny like each other, I'm gonna tell the masters!" even with the option (dark side) to not be a tattle tale. Not really Bioware's fault. Just how the lore of the Jedi order is. I have no doubt that each of the 8 class story lines are quite interesting. Trooper sounds like the most uninspired class in terms of flavor out of the eight (yay, I'm a stormtrooper... but an elite one...yeah), but I bet the story Bioware has set up makes it feel pretty cool to play a Trooper. What little I've seen of Imperial Agent seemed quite interesting, particularly how some of the Light Side options could be interpreted (double agent? triple? I can't even keep track, heh). And of course aesthetics. Healing is more of a light side thing, but for an MMO you can't really restrict that to one faction. It'd be a balancing nightmare. Unfortunately almost every recognizable force ability is either neutral (levitating shit, blaster bolt deflection, etc.) or a dark side ability like Lightning or Choke, leaving developers (of any Star Wars game, not just Bioware) having to make shit up for light side powers or just assign neutral abilities to the light side. So Sith players in TOR get iconic abilities. Jedi players get to throw pebbles or use Force Stasis (the Jedi version of Force Choke, mechanically). Doesn't take a genius to predict the population split. | ||

The leveling experience and story telling is fantastic for an MMO , and for the most quest part i actually care about whats its about. flash points so far been decently challenging , and the crafting is sweet as well. my insight on the empire / republic balance, for me personally i had major issue with corresant , it felt uninteresting blend , huge with a lot of running and very grindy . i got annoyed quite fast from the crazy people who wanted me to hack some terminal / pipe etc pretty fast . when i switched to my alt i found their world much better (kosab?) , and actually on-par with the starting worlds story-telling wise , and i also loved the look and npcs . maybe just for my perferance , but thats why i am for now sticking with my sith. | ||
