I've read that people with 6970's are even having fps drops and stutters. I can play skyrim on medium-high and BF3 on high with no fps issues. If I use WoW as an example, that game was CPU intensive, even in 25 man's people with 256mb gfx cards could play provided they had a good CPU and it seems with SWTOR, that just isn't the case. I don't actually have the game yet btw, I'm just trying to assess whether I should buy it yet. I can play Skyrim on medium with no problems. I haven't tried BF3. I can play WoW on medium settings with 30fps in 25man's.

With WoW, you go to a mission hub, accept all the missions without reading or caring, kill the mobs necessary and run back home, because the leveling quests really don't matter. With SWTOR, the leveling story is actually really engaging. It is extremely similar to WoW in many ways. For example, the Sith Sorcerer's first tree is not too unlike a disc priest, second tree is very similar to an elemental shaman and the third tree is a cross between affliction lock and shadowpriest. Honestly I think they've taken the best aspects of WoW and improved on others. The only reasons that I currently am still playing WoW is because a) my computer can run WoW flawlessly but stutters in SWTOR, b) combat/movement is WoW is still more fluid, and c) I have not heard anything about end-game focus in SWTOR. Still worth the 45 pounds imo.

First off the story telling is great, I have played all the MMOs from Ultima online through Rift and the stroytelling and ability to pull you into that story is the best in SWTOR. Played a couple of different classes in Beta and I think the Jedi Knight was my favroite as far as feeling hardcore. After gettin getting the lightsaber at level 10. (Prior to level 10 I think the Jedi story line is sub-par and kind of boring and a little more Medevil than space) After level 10 it is 100X better and very fun. One other bonus for this game is the space-fight part of the game will help improve your mouse clicking skills for SC2.

Do NOT do spacemissions if you have 1 pending quest reward that you cant somehow get. I did them and now i have 4 pending quest rewards that i cannot accept and now i am LOCKED into my ship until a GM responds to my ticket in 2 weeks. Basically i can delete my lvl 33 char.

It is somewhat user friendly when compared to WoW, but lacks a few features I do miss that they likely just haven't had time to implement yet. I've played Aion, WoW, and WAR and have to say I don't really feel the leveling experience is like any of these MMO's I've played before. I feel like I'm playing a single player game, with the added social bonus of Flashpoints (Instances), Warzones (Battlegrounds), Heroic Quests (Group Quests), and the general social interaction that comes from an MMO. Additionally, the crafting system is extremely enjoyable to me. The grind to me is not there at all, because it feels like a single player game that I'd play even if there was no endgame at 50. While the leveling experience and the crafting is quite unique to me, it looks like the endgame is quite similar to WoW though... but I guess I'm not there to judge that yet. Honestly I'd recommend this game just for the leveling experience at the moment.

It must be some sort of problem related to ATI...I have a 6950 and play Skyrim, Witcher 2, BF3, etc. all on Ultra with no issues but get random fps drops in this game at times. Considering graphics are basically crap compared to the mentioned games that shouldn't be happening.

Looks quite grindy as well, but with more voiced dialogue. Any thoughts? What are the major differences? It definitely uses the same combat formula and similar character development (skill trees) as WoW, but that's pretty much where the similarity ends. And I don't really have a problem with that, as those areas are really where WoW did a good job for its time. But SWTOR really makes you realize how much WoW was missing in having a non-existent story. Being engaged in your character and the world around him/her makes such a huge difference when it comes to enjoying and being immersed in an MMO. It doesn't matter what character I'm playing (Scoundrel/Guardian and had an Inquisitor in Beta) but I find myself role-playing trying to follow the Jedi Code on my Guardian and trying to make as much money as possible on my Scoundrel. It really does feel like a Bioware MMO (and by that I mean story-centric). Even if the late-game PvE and PvP is terrible (I haven't heard a whole lot about it), the game is worth the $60 for what is essentially the single-player content. That said, I really hope Bioware takes it seriously and realizes how much upkeep an MMO takes to keep it fresh and engaging. The worst thing they could do now is let it stagnate or take too long to fix some glaring errors (the planetwide memory leak, for one). Also, as an aside, it doesn't really feel that grindy to me yet. I have no idea if that will change, but I've only heard the game gets better and better at 15+.

Combat is similar, if not identical to wows, with one fundamental difference as far as I can tell. Your cooldowns are good, but their not life changing. You cant just get absolutely murdered by someone who has all their cooldowns to blow like you can in WoW. No particular class seems OP at the moment, (unlike warhammer where witch elves and sorcs were unbelievable). Though it should be said that I am not at level cap yet, nor do I have all the abilites of my class (level 28). Battlegrounds are fun and diverse, but fundamentally :1 flag captrue the flag, 3 base capture and hold. Objective attacks (ala strand of the ancients). Stuns and roots/slows are all present, however they arent as effective as they are in wow. That said, in battlegrounds they really need to iniate diminishing returns to those abilites. Particularily in Blitz ball, because you can be rooted/slowed for 30 seconds at a time (long ass time). Leveling is far more intuitive and fun. Your class quests really make things interesting. My one Problem with this is the sheer volume of talking. It literally takes longer to get through the conversations with the people than it does to complete the majority of quests. My wish would be that they maintain the dialogue in the story quests, but in the Kill X mob quests they cut the dialogue down so you dont have to stand their for 5 mins. (Ive started skipping non story quests with spacebar) Zones are pretty cool, fairly diverse, lots of city questing. Crafting is by far and away superior to any other MMO Ive played. Allowing companions to grind the crappy stuff like searching for mats and making stuff you cant use is WAY better, and WAY more rewarding than doing it yourself. I can see companions being a bit of an issue in world PVP though, as they have a plethora of knockdowns and stuns. Item customization is cool, but it woul dbe nice to see it expanded to more than just orange/blue items. Ship customization is fun and a great addition (lots of changes to current ship, and lots of different ships to get). Really provides a nice break from the standard leveling, and is fairly fun and gives good experience. All in all, I am really enjoying it so far, which i find a suprise, because the last few mmos that I've tried, I've really hated leveling and grinding and I've havent been able to reach max level. Two things I really dislike: 1. Once you have chosen your class, you cannot change it. eg. An inquistor can go sorc or assassin, they can reset the skill trees, but not change their path. 2. Lightsaber colors are restricted based on "good or evil of your character" Not faction. meaning, my "Light" side sith can use a blue lightsaber, but my "dark side Sith" can only use red, yellow, ect. Seems kind of a pointless restriction, particularily for people who like me have had a specific lightsabre color in mind for a while and have to play their character a certain way to get it. Both are fairly minor in the grand scheme of things.

Not sure how they could be less interesting than WoW, they're the same brand of kill X, loot Y, activate Z objects. But honestly, I don't expect them to come up with hundreds of unique quests. I think the voice-over story, conversation wheel with light/dark options, and "bonus" quests that pop up while you're out killing shit do a good job of breaking up some of the monotony of standard MMO questing.

Its like getting mad at a fps becuase they all look the same (meaning you see a hand with a gun and you shoot things lol)
