there are much better custom maps in sc2 than SG campaign

I guess I have to try it before the servers will shut down (if I can connect to the servers now, that is). When they first launched the campaign, it was indeed dog shit. And I didn't like the campaign of SC2, either. I thought vanilla SC2 campaign had horrendously cheesy writing, especially for the characters. So in my case, I don't think SC2 set the bar very high...
On another note, I wonder if FG might be liable for a fraud lawsuit. In their Kickstarter campaign they noted that the project was fully funded to release and they just need this extra money for physical deluxe editions etc. That falls under false advertising I think.
Not like there's much point in kicking a dead horse but this might be something that they'll also need to deal with.
Here's a bit more info (no lawsuits mentioned, just the timeline of events leading to this day):

It was bad writing but the gameplay was very good. Best rts campaign by miles. Games have bad writing in general.
I think the campaign and the gameplay in general are fine now. But like it was said, "fine" is too little too late. And for me the biggest thing was always a balanced 3v3 mode. And this is still nowhere to be seen.

The bar is the RTS options on Steam. There are far better games to play on Steam. Tim Morten going down the "perception is more important than reality" garden path is an attempt by Tim to diminish his level of of responsibility. He is just an orphan in a storm... poor Tim. Living on the most valuable real estate in the world where its summer 12 months a year. Poor Tim.
It looks like Frost Giant tried their best and failed. meh. Going with UE5 was big mistake very early on in their game making process.
I am 99.9% sure at this point that Spartak is a third or fourth Tim Morten alt.
Tim's been caught with proof linking him to several alt accounts which write in exactly the same fashion and post during the same hours. They defend Tim at every move that he makes (good, bad or terrible) and attack anyone who says anything about the game which could be viewed negatively, including feedback that just says that they would like improvement in X area because it's not good. It is insane, control freak behavior.
He turned his filter off because he thought that these comments wouldn't be traced back to him, but they were.
It makes much more sense that there's one more account that he didn't screw up and accidentally link to himself directly than it does for some unknown and unpaid hero to get solo admin rights on every FG community before they have even named the game, and then act in exactly the same manner as a full time job.
I genuinely think Sparty is not an alt. He is terminal stage shill, but not an alt. At least not Tim's. Voidlegacy lexicon matches perfectly with Tim's. That's not the case with Sparty. There were also some insides from Voidlegacy, like mentioning the same games in the same order as Tim at the conference a couple weeks after.
But yeah, Fluffy is 100% Tim's alt (proven, and admitted by FG) Voidlegacy is 99%. There was documented case of Tim forgetting to log off, and praising his game.
When I read comments of Voidlegacy, I thought he was some aggressive teenager :D Imagine being CEO of IT company and wasting your time arguing with haters using alt accounts.

It says everything you need to know about Tim and why this and his previous c&c project failed the way it did.

Edit: For context, the above message was comparing the screenshots from the initial gameplay reveal of SG with screenshots from the current build, claiming that the former were better.
Frost Giant layered on so many special effects, shaders, and lighting effects that occasionally Stormgate's screens turn into indistinguishable blobs of grey and blue, especially during the darker parts of the day/night cycle. (Incidentally, the day/night cycle turned out to be totally pointless, because there was no in-game effect for it)
This resulted in the Early Access "bad art style" screenshots being much clearer and easier to distinguish units on, which is kind of hilariously sad.

After going through some of Sparktaks post. Yes I agree it's very suspicious. Majority of the posts are Frostgiant PR. Similarly to VoidLegacy very littile game-specific-detailed discussions. More surface level.
Voidlegacy, however was a lot more obvious as he effectively acknowledged that he had the exact same employment experience as Tim Morten.
I think Sparktak may be someone affiliated with Frostgiant but not Tim Morten.
The user seems affiliated with Guardians of the Atlas as well. https://www.youtube.com/@GuardiansOfAtlas/videos. If anyone can find shared an employee with shared experience in both companies it's likely Sparkak.
I'm still having fun with the game, but the matchmaking is getting horrible :D
I'd say my last... 30 games or so... I either absolutely stomp the other player with my eyes closed (500+ MMR difference, I had a game today that was an 800 MMR difference), or the opposite... I am around 1700 MMR and I get stomped by 1950-2250 MMR people (top 50 of the ladder).
I played one guy yesterday around 1675 MMR and had a fun 20 minute game. Wish I could get more of those.
I also wish we could get some more ladder maps... and an update from the dev team. I'm fully expecting the game to be shut down any moment, but I'll take being pleasantly surprised if not.
I'm still of the mindset that the game needs another 2+ years for it to be really "good" and acceptable in the eyes of the community. I feel like there's a lot of "throwing the baby out with the bathwater" going around. I think people are just so emotional over the game in general - there was a lot of hype and hope and so much disappointment.
If this game came outta nowhere and was made by 3 developers on a $2M budget people would probably love it and be willing to support its journey (maybe not). But, it was 50+ RTS industry veterans and $40 million dollars who have made mistake after mistake (Faking Steam reviews, etc.). The game has a lot of baggage outside of the actual game itself.
The game has been quite fun to play for me, with the caveat that I feel it won't be (or wouldn't have been) 100% "finished" for another 2 years.
(I know we can't just ignore the fact that they're charging money and have left Early Access and say stuff is "finished").
Campaign also wasn't as bad as people say - even UpATree liked and recommended it for purchase (did anyone actually watch his review video?). Yes, he did say it has a lot of issues. This is obviously relating to its gameplay only - story/dialogue in most RTS games is pretty weak to me anyway. (Does everyone forget that a ton of people hated the stories in the SC2 campaigns? It made up for it with fantastic polish, art, sound, gameplay, replayability etc.)
Regarding Spartak and "scope" and "high bars":
When I think of a Blizzard RTS, I think of there being months/years of hype leading up to it. People salivating over watching the SC2 battle report videos. The 20 minute SC2 release video at the WWI in 2007. Theorycrafting galore. Essays written that MBS will ruin the macro of Starcraft. Upkeep will ruin WC3 etc. People's passion and hype are easy to find.
A game that sells 1.8 million copies in its first 48 hours (WoL). Hundreds of thousands of people online playing 1v1, teams, the campaign, customs etc. Tournaments popping up every week. Huge hype and excitement and people whining about balance and looking in awe at what the pros do. $100K first prize GSL tournaments, every month! 10s of thousands of live viewers and online streamers for MLG tournaments. MarineKing splitting marines vs. banelings. Koreans vs. foreigners.
Since SC2, there's been no game that has captured that kind of feeling again. I looked up copies of some big RTS games sold and was surprised AOE4 is over 4 million. AOE2 definitive edition has a peak of 38,725 players - AOE4 has 73,629. That's a fuckload! Many times as much as SG, for sure. But it's nowhere near SC2/WC3/BW. I understand the C&C franchise has sold 10s of millions of copies, as well as AOE and Dawn of War. AOE2/AOE4 esports is pretty fun (and I watch it) but not close to Blizzard's RTSes.
There's also been dozens (it seems) of indie RTSes made on a shoestring budget that have been "successful" in their own right. But again, nothing close to a Blizz RTS.
FGS thought they could re-capture that feeling again. They convinced enough investors to get $40M in funding for that, too. But clearly they overestimated how much the community would support them and what people's tolerances are for massively undercooked gameplay/graphics/art/sound/lore etc.
To me, that's what it means when FGS "bit off more than they could chew".
I also agree that there's no RTS on the horizon that hopes to capture that Blizz RTS, "million copies sold in 24 hour" type feeling. Flash, Jaedong and Bisu are playing in the 3v3 tournament! They play Boxer, Yellow and Reach in the first round! OMG! Soulkey, Light and Snow are playing the winner!" (I know this is silly).
That doesn't mean that an RTS that performs at several magnitudes less than "millions of copies" is unsuccessful, either.
Anyway, this is what I feel Spartak is unsuccessfully trying to convey. FGS had extremely high expectations, comically so based on what they had produced so far. Devs realized it too late and tried to focus but so far have fallen largely flat. I don't think he's really denying or defending them, mostly stating facts.
(Edit: I think C&C/AOE4/Dawn of War etc. have hundreds of thousands of casual players - played and loved the campaign, replay it now and then but not consistently logging in. I don't mean to downplay non-Blizz big RTSes like those. In fact, with SG likely failing I'm starting to get into them more myself to see what I've missed over the years).

The worst part is, you match with these people INSTANTLY. I've gotten people 500 mmr below me in less than 1 second of searching. Shouldn't be possible. I get the playerbase is small but it should at least search for, idk, 30 seconds before expanding search parameters that wide imo
When that happens, usually the other person has been waiting 2+ minutes. I've been on both sides of that - instant queues, or waiting 3+ minutes to get someone 500 MMR below me.

That's not how it should work. starcraft isnt like that. if you get 500 mmr differential because they wait for minutes, you yourself shouldnt be open to that differential if you haven't been waiting as well. that is why streamers restart queue after a couple minutes

Hey, usually it works like this: The game has 4 people in the queue: 800, 900, 1200, 1800 MMR. It can immediately pair 800 MMR guy with 900, 1200 with 1800. But it doesn't. It waits for a minute to increase the accuracy of matchmaking. After a minute 1300 and 2000 MMR guys join the queue. 800 gets paired with 900, 1200 with 1300, 1800 with 2000.
All the above is quite irrelevant for SG. You can't make a properly working matchmaking for a game with 30-100 CCU. Only half of them aren't AFK, half of that number is playing 1v1, 1/5 of this number is not already in the game. So there are 1.5 to 5 people in the queue if we're being optimistic.
