Despite the serious accusations of those brands' products being partly produced with Uyghur slave labour in chinese concentration camps. In Blizzards case justice will be served, but nobody cares about the staggering numbers of human rights violations abroad. Because it's not in their own backyard and won't give them woke points on Twitter. I'm honestly amazed how people go on a crusade for the little things and ignore far more serious human rights violations. I could go on with my rant, but that won't change the shit show called humanity, and I'm getting off topic here...being oblivious to all of this would also be better for my own mental health I guess..lol

And once they're done tweeting they put it back in the pocket of their 100% Uyghur cotton denim Levi's jeans... Idk, I'm just so annoyed and done with Twitter slacktivism...I think I need a break from the internet...

Hello, and welcome once again to a new Diablo IV Quarterly Update. I'm Joe Shely from the Diablo IV team. As a design lead who has been working on this dark, shared, open world action role-playing game from the beginning, I’m honored to continue the vision of Diablo IV as its new Game Director, and I’m humbled to represent the team pouring their hearts into this game. Like many of you, our team has been reflecting upon recent events. A lot has happened since our last blog and the hard work of practicing the values we aspire to must continue. In parallel with that important work, development of Diablo IV continues too. Over the past few years, we've assembled a strong team with incredible passion for Diablo IV. You, Diablo’s fans, are a critical part of this team. With the help of your valuable feedback, we've steadily refined and deepened the game experience. We have ways to go, and while much has changed, our commitment to the game is unwavering. Sanctuary should always be items glittering in dark dungeons. Tales of powerful heroes standing against the onslaught of hell. Lands where trials, treasure, and terrible monsters lie around every corner, equal parts familiar and boundless in its possibilities. Doing this world justice is a solemn responsibility. Today, we're taking a deep dive into the sound design of Diablo IV. Sound is a sometimes underappreciated yet integral element of the game's design, serving as a channel for communicating everything from incoming damage, to confirmation that a button press was registered by the game, to the intensity of a combat sequence. Try turning off the sound in a Diablo game sometime; you'll find your eyes have to work a lot harder to follow the action. Sound also conveys the subtext of the world through which you adventure. It supports the rising and falling action of the campaign and immerses you into the ambient life of a region, transporting you into the game world. While you're reading through the blog, I encourage you to listen to the ambient tracks and pay attention to their effect on your heartrate and emotions. Try closing your eyes while listening to get a better sense of how much is being communicated. Crafting Diablo's sound requires science, art... and the occasional ball of fire. Sound Supervisor Kris Giampa and his team have fascinating insights to share in this behind-the-scenes look at how it all works. We hope you enjoy this update and look forward to your thoughts and reactions. As promised, our next blog will cover endgame systems and visual effects. It's been a while since we looked at systems, and there's a lot we're excited to share. Let us know what topics you'd like to hear about in the future too! We are grateful to have you with us on this journey. Thank you for playing the stuff we make. Source

Activision Blizzard today revealed in its quarterly earnings report that it would be delaying the release of Overwatch 2 and Diablo IV. The company was not specific on exactly how long the games would be delayed, but neither game will be released in 2022. It simply said that the games would receive “a later launch … than originally envisaged.” The given reason is that the development teams require more time with the games in order to adequately support them after launch. Activision Blizzard said in a statement: “These are two of the most eagerly anticipated titles in the industry, and our teams have made great strides towards completion in recent quarters. But we believe giving the teams some extra time to complete production and continue growing their creative resources to support the titles after launch will ensure that these releases delight and engage their communities for many years into the future.” Mike Ybarra, in the earnings call, attributed part of the delays to the changes in leadership on both development teams. Chacko Sonny, the executive producer of the Overwatch series at Blizzard, and Luis Barriga, the director of Diablo IV, both left the company this year. Diablo IV is part of Activision’s attempt to bring the franchise back to its glory days. Diablo Immortal is still on track to be released early next year. The Overwatch League will offer a preview of Overwatch 2 next year, running on an early build of the game’s new 5v5 mode. Source

That's basically the best life advice there is when it comes to anything. People are just expecting too much of new games these days, just look at how people have been wanting vanilla WoW back for years and how disappointing classic WoW turned out to be for a lot of players. As for me, I love PoE and am certainly excited about PoE2, but in my heart of hearts Diablo has and will always be my first love when it comes to arpgs. So I'm definitely more exited about D4 than PoE2 and apart from at least 20-50 hours of fun, my expectations are quite low. It's kinda weird how a slightly adjusted mindset can change your whole perpsective. I mean it's good to eat great sushi every once in a while, but that shouldn't ruin average sushi for me. Minimizing expactions in the long run really had a positive effect on my mental state and helped me appreciating the little things more....wow this really turned into a Dr. Phil post. lol

It isn't a great game and certainly not a looter/arpg that I'll keep coming back to, but I had fun with the campaign. It has its ups and downs, but the last mission is phenomenal and it sure does end on a high note.

I heard/read that PoE2 has similarily been delayed to 2024, do you know if this is true? Was really looking forward to trying it but seems like such a giant delay.

its the exact same shit d3 has and is one of the things that makes d3 so damn boring; too much damage. i dont like the occultist npc either. just make it so finding the legendary effect on the item you want be based on rng, that way you actually have to grind for something and its meaningful when you get the exact effect you want on the exact item you want. the direction they took with items is too alike d3 and is a huge red flag for me atm. the paragon board is an obvious rip off of poe and perhaps it may be what saves d4. ill admit i havent personally played poe myself because i couldnt be bothered to learn the complexities of the game at my age, but i know poe is generally held in pretty high regard so maybe d4 could replicate that.

PoE is not good because the gameplay is great and feels and looks nice, it's great because there is a lot of character customization, a lot of different things to do, a decent item system and because it's getting frequently updated (and a lot). I'll be honest the current state of PoE is not the one that I've enjoyed the most, but it's still my favorite ARPG.

Some stuff looks nice like the active frames of the skills. Damage numbers idk : again for free coop (or pvp) it's quite important that the numbers don't progress too quickly, or characters just outscale each other fast. Which also means earlier stuff goes obsolete fast and has little value in the trading pool, and means you have less choice of free roaming because monsters who are a little before become super weak to you, those a little after are super strong etc. Also leads to easy farm abuse of anything weaker unless the game removes loot from weaker monsters for example. But let's see ofc. I'm the kind of player who will compare what I see with the best game I know to decide if I want to play or not. Paragon boards could be interesting if they allow choice and customization without outscaling or other issues like infinite powerup leading to outscaling. It's basically a type of talent system on top of a skill tree system as I understand, so cool if the game has both. Wow has talents, D2 has skill trees.. Of course anti cheating is always important : P D3 was bot-land at the start. Then if the economy doesn't restart I'd leave. Just honestly. also let me quote Quinn here he said in his video in reaction to this I really agree with : "the cool shit is when the players can do w/e the f they want and they have like millions of tools and they can like pick like this and this and this and this and they can make their build that synergizes and that wasn't necessarily intended" (finally a question mark: hardcore? once I started playing D2 that way can't go back, its the best! which I think should include a possibility to agree to a non deadly pvp fight so that regular pvp can be a part of it. Some improvements could be brought to hardcore, remove the possibility to instantly escape with Save&Exit for instance. It's like cheating. But now there has to be some safety nets against disconnects and such. Suggest a few seconds of vulnerability before despawning the character, or alternatively save the state the character was in and bring it back there on reconnect, now we're talking! If he was cooping, then he'll be alone there instead. If that duplicates the monsters, remove the loot or rewards. Just has to escape alive, can't abuse pulling cable etc.)
