I think the evolution of games has been driven partly by mods.
This is a two edged sword. You get what players want. You get what the demographic of the people who have time to work on mods want. This demographics works quite well also in a purchasing power sense so the mechanics flow and when it rains it pours.
Indie games is another path, which brings me more joy. Both could have very similar results but indie suits me better.
So some idiot already bought the battle pass and accidentally activated it earlier than he wanted to, because he was rushing and didn't read the "ACTIVATE PREMIUM" button, in all caps, before clicking on it. Oh man, Blizzard is just the worst company ever.

It's bad UI design if it causes people to do things they don't want to
There will always be dumb people or people who make mistakes
Its up to the UI/UX design to work around that. A confirmation button isn't radical

And if they added a confirmation button after clicking the giant "ACTIVATE PREMIUM" notification, then someone would complain that there isn't a double confirmation button. Then a triple confirmation button. I think a lot of the viral complaints are just people shitting on D4/Blizzard just to shit on them. But oh well.
I do have a general question about stash sharing: After season 1 ends, the season 1 characters will join the old characters in the eternal realm, right? Does this mean that the season 1 stash combines with the eternal realm stash, once season 2 starts? If they do get combined, I'm wondering what happens to items if the pre-season stash is full and the season 1 stash is also full. Where does the overflow of items go? Do some items get deleted? Do we jump from 4 tabs to 8 tabs of stash slots? Any idea?

Nah, having a confirmation button for when you spend IRL money is fairly standard, having a confirmation button for salvaging uniques, but not for IRL money is just bad design. Especially because f.e. Sc2 has a confirmation button when you buy a commander. I agree that there's a lot of baseless criticism, but this one imo is absolutely fair.
@items I would presume into your characters inventory, but I haven't really found out why I need stash tabs for anything other than gems anyways. How is it handled in d2 and d3?

I was wondering this myself. Also, will the other eternal chars be able to use malignant hearts gathered by seasonal chars when they get ported to eternal realm?
Fortnite gets around what I assume are mostly angry parents complaining about this by having a hold to confirm toggle on purchases where you’ve got a few seconds to hold it down to confirm

I'll preface this by saying I don't have a dog in this fight, beyond thinking it's bad UI design. I literally just bought the game, in the midst of the mass hatred, and am playing through it now. So please don't dismiss me as someone who just wants to "shit on them".
You know how in a lot of games, deleting a character requires you to jump through a few hoops? (Idk how diablo does this, haven't tried) Like writing the name of the character, or double or triple confirming. It's because the consequence of the decision is large, so they put barriers to defend from someone's mistake / stupidity.
>> Of course <<, a battle pass activation isn't as big of a consequence as a character deletion, but still, it involves real money that people may not want to be using right now. I make the comparison to outline how design doesn't always depend on people going slow and reading carefully, because that doesn't reflect reality.
The question is how many people are you okay with failing themseles, vs. how much inconvenience you are inflicting with a more explicit UI. If you don't care about people having a negative experience in favor of making more money, people will get upset. Just depends on how much you are willing to weather for money.
In any case, I get that going apeshit over this particular issue may be extreme but when negative experiences are being had, even if partially self inflicted, it all adds up. Seriously, a single confirmation ask is not a slippery slope to infinite cascading confirmations. Even shitty mobile gacha does confirmations
tl;dr - I'm not a blizz hater. Bad design is bad. 1 confirm isn't a big deal

In D2:R the shared stash tabs of your ladder chars, once previous season is over, are accessible to the non ladder chars marked as "past" shared tabs which will eventually disappear and be overwritten by current season shared stash tabs once that current season is over. So you have the duration of that season to move shared stash items of previous season to the rest of your shared or personal tabs of your "non ladder" chars.

I'd also mention that this is highly at odds of my desires when playing a game. I may be old-fashioned, but when i play a game, i want to relax. I don't want to constantly be on guard and triple-check that every menu item i click on doesn't spend my real money.
Ideally, there are absolutely no menu items for spending my money in a game. But if there are, at least make very sure that i can't accidentally click them and suddenly a bunch of my money is gone.
Normally, when i buy stuff online, there are a bunch of steps to it. Selects products. Click checkout. See total. Select payment method. Click buy. Enter payment credentials like Paypal. And only then is my money gone. I like this, but i understand why companies who want me to impulse-buy shit want to reduce the amount of steps, because the fewer there are, the more likely i am to stop.
I think it's a bit of a pity that you can't pay for the next battlepass with the unlocked currency of this battlepass. That would actually be a fair deal then

And if they have to add a double confirmation Burton (like when you deleite a character) , where IS the problem? Also the guy IS playing on a Gamepad, i also played d4 on a Gamepad, making that mistake freaking HAPPENS, it's actually expected, the reason that button IS the Focus by default is obviously on purpose and anyone Who has designed software can fucking tell you. But no, let's blame the customer instead. Jesus.
I must say this season is such a chore... Those malignant monsters draining your resource is really the way to make your gamers hate life. "I'm not ready yet" is exactly what I want to hear whenever I press my primary attack button, peak enjoyment right there.

Well, Blizz just admitted that we don't have more stash tabs because of performance issues. Turns out that whenever you see another player on the screen their entire stash is also loaded with them for some reason. No idea how they plan to solve it

That is...dumb.
Like I can see why in theory it works.
If you are player A, and player B roots around in their stash and pulls something out, you don't have a brief lag spike if they have cosmetic changes and you need to load resources. But the town is completely safe, and people don't die from small lag spikes in town.
But the real solution is just to load each players current wardrobe loadout, load inventory on inspect, and then push character model updates at some low rate if updated. They need to pull someone from the WoW team to figure out how to handle that, since they've clearly already got a solution that works for towns with 10x the people of a D4 town.
The stash thing is probably a remnant of diablo 3 and it made sense coding it that way back then for the real money auction house, is my best guess. They probably just copy pasted everything inventory management code related, made some minor adjustments after testing it and called it a day. Which obviously isn't the smartest thing to do, but chosing the less time consuming method is sadly the new Blizzard way by the looks of it. Prime example of that is OW2 and D4 sadly seems to be following that mo.
