Won domination at 340ish, I teched super slowly but the AI still only had units that were 2-3 tiers behind. Apparently there's no airlift anymore so intercontinental wars are much more tedious. I like the new corps/army system, you can combine up to 3 units together to save space. Great intermediary between 1UPT and stack of doom. There are no paratroopers and nukes don't have unlimited range anymore. There's also no railroad which slows down movement by quiet a bit. I know science victories take a long time but can't imagine late game domination being much better.
Most of the new mechanics are improvements on V. They just need to fix a few minor issues and this will be the best Civ by far. They really need to fix some of the random mechanics such as negotiations, tile expansions, etc, or else there won't be any competitive play.
Every city seems to need an industrial district, the build costs are way too high without and the overwhelming majority of wonders are not worth building as a result.

Time to (re)learn this game, so much stuff out there.
I hope war isn't punished as hard as it was in civ5.

I hope war isn't punished as hard as it was in civ5. Gandhi declared war on me for razing a city state, before even meeting me, so I couldn't make peace for the next 50 turns.

is there a limit on the number of archelogist you can build from a city ?

I don't know about you all but I've sampled 6 different civs and have fallen in love with all the in game music. Love the chinese one especially, starts out really simple and melodic, and transitions to a symphony of the same tune by the modern age. Just love this game so far.

Slinger/slinger/builder or scout/slinger/builder seems better than scout/scout/builder, assuming no UUs. Slingers have one less movement which matters very little in the new system. Also the xp and Archery eureka.
Good ol' archer to xbow rush still works well. Early game rushes might even be stronger now.

How do you get the gold to upgrade them? it's 200g each.
|
Trading away resources, huts, microing tiles, etc. What was the cost in Civ V again? It was cheaper but Machinery came earlier.
|
I feel gold was much easier to come by in Civ V. Luxuries were tradable for 7 gpt and the AI loved to buy strategics. Now the gold offered seems to be lower and I've yet to have the AI agree to buy iron/horses from me for any price. Now add great People being buyable with gold and production being much more important (so buying Builders or buildings is much, much more important) means there's a higher opportunity cost.
The great thing about xbows in 5 was there was little opportunity cost. Gold was not very needed aside upgrading units, rushing key buildings (workshops/universities/schools/labs) or buying tiles after forward settling.

i also have a similar problem with building a fishing boat but not sure

Builders can swim.

Getting gold is easier in civ 6 than civ 5. Commercial districts and trade routes give a ton of gold. What you have to keep in mind with Civ 6 is that you can't have everything. You have to consider whether a given district -- especially in the early/mid game -- fits within your game plan.

Egypt calls me to do a joint war against China. I agree and one turn later she calls me out for being a warmonger!
By the way, I'm 200 turns in and have conquered only 2 cities one of which was a city state that had already been conquered by someone else, yet that seems to be enough to get the whole world pissed off at me. There's no way to get this to go away, is there? Not that I really care, since the only threat to me is on the other side of the map.

Maybe I should cut down on Campus/Theater district, just get 1 of each (although for the culture one i kind of want 2 because all writers Ive seen have 2 great works). Meanwhile Industrials and Eco ones in every city. Encampments, Im not sure, one high production city with it for the strategic discounts maybe?
|
Not a bug, but, it seemed like it. ...So here I am on a island map, do to longship pillaging I pop a great admiral that gives a Ironclad pretty early. Frigates aren't on scene yet. Hell yea! But unknown to me for about 75 turns, you can't repair units if they are missing the resource. Guess what unit needs coal.
TLDR: great admiral gives you ironclad, but not the coal to fix it.

I think on higher difficulties (immortal/deity) you need a campus and theater district in most cities to catch up on techs.

Oke so i'm trying to go for a Religion Victory, Arabia, it seems to me though that Faith at the start doesn't do that much and that you should just focus on it later or?
|
That sounds reasonable for Arabia specifically, given that you're guaranteed a religion even without any faith whatsoever.
