EDIT: Since I didn't address this: On January 20 2017 15:05 sharkie wrote: Really? I always leveled up around 10 units evenly without any problems. I don't think Fire Emblem is a game where you need to follow one strict way to beat the game, that's what is so beautiful about it Anyone is free to play the game however they wish. However, for a player that is struggling, there are definitely some habits/play patterns that will help them through the game. "Limit the number of characters you invest in" tends to be one of the easiest pieces of advice for a player struggling in the early game. A lot of the difficulty in most Fire Emblem games just comes in overcoming the early difficulty curve and having a smaller number of more powerful units makes that far easier.

As for FE10, Dolphin is really good. It is also is the easiest way for people to experience the original FE9 maniac mode and not the watered down hard mode in the NA release.

I think my problem is that I tried to evenly level up every character on a given map.

I've tried playing PoR/RD on Dolphin, but my PC sucks so I wasn't able to get performance that I was happy with to play the game.

I guess Haar can 1/2-turn certain chapters, making it unfair competition for people who don't have him?

https://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?/forum/60-fire-emblem-drafts/ From my very limited knowledge of RD, banning Haar makes sense.

When I read that the draft was for 7 people and only Micaiah/Sothe/BK are free to use from the DB, I thought it would be impossible for all 7 players to finish. But then I read it was normal mode, that may be doable. Still, If the first 5 players take Zihark/Nolan/Jill/Volug/Aran then 3-6 will be a bitch for the other 2. Edward can be usable on NM but if you have to go with Ilyana/Leo GL to you. Haar with Tomahawk makes it possible to 1-turn 2-Endgame, which seems unfair I guess. He's also by far the best character in the game.

Since FE10 has like half a million characters, 7 player draft doesn't sound that punishing, especially if you get sothe, micaiah, and eddy/nolen for free on the hard chapters.

The hard chapters are the ones in Part 3, no eddy/nolan for free there ![]()

He's also by far the best character in the game. Edward is better than Zihark, Volug, and Aran in a draft; his growths are insane and a unit with growths like his benefit from being fed all the EXP and stat boosters The guy who doesn't get any of the 5 you mentioned or Edward can use Sothe, and Laura/Meg/Leo/Fiona are all varying degrees of usable. Plus, you still have Sothe. And, as a bonus, this player typically gets to secure the best non-DB unit (which iirc is Titania) Keep in mind that BEXP on Normal is 4x as plentiful as it is on Hard (you get twice as much and it takes half as much to level), and while it's not as many stats as a natural level up, when you dump 20 bexp levels into a unit and they get +60 stats +promotion gains, anyone can be usable e: The part 3 DB chapters are really straightforward in a draft if you're familiar with drafts; keep in mind 3-6 enemies only have A Strike on Normal, which makes the difference in their stats way bigger than other normal/hard mode changes. A hard mode Cat will have 27-29 attack, a normal mode cat has 20-22. A hard mode Tiger will have 39-41 attack, a normal mode one will have 30ish. That's a massive difference--Aran is just straight up invincible on Normal, and even someone frail like Ed can just spam Vulneraries while running forward because he's not being 2 shot by everything. 3-12 is similar, and after the EXP fiesta of 3-6, your DB should certainly be high enough level to take a Crown if needed. 3-13 enemies are barely stronger than 3-6, the strategy there is to have Ike equip a Bronze Sword and rush him

For me 3-6 is the hardest chapter in the game and it's hard to imagine how one would complete it without using all 3 of Nolan/Zihark/Jill, but if the Laguz on NM really hit that much less it's ok I guess ![]()
