You realize based on this criteria, Arthur becomes a legitimate pick right? :D Arthur's a very good pick, especially since due to some of the other rules, it's possible to get Effie!Percy without actually using a pick on Effie.

For pure efficiency purposes, Niles is probably the single best pick anyways, even over Camila.
|
I thought Xander would have been the best pick.
Though I can easily see the case for Niles.
Not that I know how good he is.

If the Jail is allowed, there are a few captureables that can definitely fill in the gaps at certain points in the game if you have a shaky team.
Edit: which makes me wonder, are those staff savant maids captureable?
|
Captured units are typically banned due to making Niles way too good (there's already a strong argument for first-picking him).
The biggest downside to Xander is his poor availability. This matters even more than in normal efficiency play since you aren't fielding a full team, so having a unit that joins too late in your draft makes the early game a lot harder if your draft only lets you field like 3-4 combat units for the early chapters.
Staff Savant maids and Inevitable End Ninjas can be captured but they lose the skill upon being recruited.
Anyway, rules: + Show Spoiler +Drafting: 1. This draft is for 4-5 players 2. Picks occur in "snake" fashion (e.g. 1-2-3-4-4-3-2-1-1-2-...) 3. Corrin, Gunter, Felicia, Jakob, and Azura are free for all 4. If applicable, the remaining units after the final round of drafting will be free for all. 5. All units are free until chapter 10 (this includes chapter 10 itself). 6. Children are drafted with their parents except for Kana, Shigure, and Dwyer. Rules: 1. Undrafted units may not be used as meatshields, build supports, or otherwise enter combat unless otherwise unavoidable. They may be used to visit villages, pick locks, talk to NPCs, and Pair Up with other undrafted units. 2. Units captured by Niles cannot be used. 3. Regardless of drafting status, you may kill Shura in Ch 16.
There's typically a bunch of other rules about what you can and can't do (e.g. whether you're allowed to do Invasions, on which there's some dispute), but like I said, play the game how you want. Obviously until we actually start these are totally up for discussion/change.
|
So what you're saying is that you're probably more interested in early game units.
That's pretty interesting. I can't wait to draft because I want to see all the errors I end up making. It'll be great!
Also no support building means less paralogues. This is going to be interesting.
|
The Conquest drafts I've seen go with the rule of being able to use everyone till Ch. 10. This is because there's no true Jeigan in Conquest (which is typically a free pick in drafts of other games), so otherwise 7-10 could be unnecessarily brutal if you didn't get to draft any of the early game units (10 in particular would be REALLY hard if you only got like 3 units to use).
|
Is pair up strictly not allowed between a drafted and undrafted character?
|
After Ch. 10, yes. Pre-Ch. 10 anything is fair game.
EDIT: We could do pair up allowed so long as the pair doesn't see combat while paired (since the main restriction is building supports). Since we're not racing/LTCing anyway, using undrafted units for transport chains seems fine.
EDIT 2: I personally don't care, but most drafts typically ban DLC, VP/BP rewards, and the Link bonus items. My Castle stuff is unbanned because not being able to use forging or Mess Hall sucks, especially if you drafted Odin.

please have mercy, or imma get shrekt by this draft ^^

Skill buying and grinding dlc seems like the only features that break the spirit of a conquest run. I won't be playing with street pass features personally since import copies can't interact with copies from different regions.
|
I wouldn't mind trying this out to see how it would go. Would you mind creating a list of all characters involved and I would like some clarification on the rules.
Based on what it says you basically have to draft both fathers and mothers to build supports (outside of free units). Meaning if I don't draft Effie, I can't use her as a mother to my drafted Leo. Would this be accurate?

Its a shame rev is the disaster it is, or else it would be really fun making a draft with that many diff characters.

What seems really fun is a 3-route draft, where you draft your characters for all 3 routes. But that a) would take too long and b) would require playing Rev again.

Honestly that seems like a cool enough concept that I would maybe be willing to play rev again....maybe....

I mean it also just ends up being weird because of how Birthright-skewed the usable non-Royals on Revelation are thanks to their recruit times. You have to draft hard for Conquest because it's the hardest route, but at the same time, Birthright characters give you more Revelation mileage.

It's not just their recruit times, but their fucking levels. I mean you get an upgraded Shura and a lvl 8 Nyx in the same level. Also Baruka and Selena are lvl 8 when they join as well, despite the fact that the rest of your team will be 15+. It takes a lot of grinding to field any of the Nohrians.
|
Beruka recruits at 9 and Selena at 10. Selena's actually perfectly usable as a Falcoknight, and honestly probably better than the 2 other Falcos on the route (Subaki's growths are sketchy and Hinoka recruits with bad bases).
