So flashbangs are really good? I'm in love with my frag grenades(esp for rookies) but I guess thats an Xcom 1 thing.

I had to reload the muton mission several times because he grenades me like a mofo, I think you have to dodge him and go to the other side of the building, force him to come to you. The trailer side has terrible cover.

flashbang a sectoid and the mind control goes poof. If you desorientate them that is. Also blocks special abilities.

Everyone on r/xcom is pleased with the change and it was something that has been suggested for a long time. And like it or not, it is the primary community for xcom. XCOM 2 changed the dimension of the game but for almost 2 years, it has been LW for everyone and we all welcome the changes.

Current run is on life support. Main reason being because 5 of my best troops got captured. That VIP better be damn grateful he has his freedom.

wanted to see how good the aim of the enemies is on normal ... gj game. first mission without the tut ... enemy shot 3 times against full cover and hit. While i missed 3 80% shots haha. Game really wants to make me a save scummer ;_; . I will now take a break

Never presume to speak for everyone, and everyone on r/xcom does not agree with the time limits or their strictness either. I'm not a big fan of majority of missions being time based and especially being on a timer already while you're still concealed. That doesn't make sense. Why is the thing so time sensitive if I coulda scanned a place for a day before even heading to some missions? Timer should start when concealment is broken. And a few of the missions could do with an extra turn or 3 on the timers anyway. Which gladly is moddable, I'm using the timer mod and having far more fun playing the game as a result.

Got this game after I saw the hype reviews, but still don't understand what's so special about it. Never played the first game but aside from the performance issues and the fact that I have to run it on minimum to get 60 fps when it doesn't even look good, the game feels really slow paced and people are just missing stuff all the time even with 80% hit rate. I'm playing on rookie but the game is still not very friendly to new players, sometimes you have to right-click and sometimes you have to left-click on stuff, ending up with me just walking next to enemies cause I'm misclicking the damn tiles. But hey even if stand right in someone's face I will miss unless I use the knife. There are some good things though, I like the story and all the lore you can read, it's kinda more fun when you're in the avenger than in combat, and modding the game was a breeze (downloaded a free camera rotate mod in one click). But I just don't find it as fun as something as Fire Emblem.

Also not a fan of modding out turn timers, it kinda alters the core of the game and how it's supposed to be played. I mean they probably added the turn timers for a reason. It's nice that there's an option for it, but if you were to discuss the game with someone who played through it with timers it would most likely be like talking about two different games.

The way I see it. The last game was all about defense with the overwatch spamming and just waiting until enemies walked into you which is NOT fun at all. This game is all about offense and the timers get people off their overwatching spamming lazy asses to actually do something.

Just as a note. Only the tutorial is scripted. Everything else is randomly generated (a few campaign missions might be but since I'm still on my first playthrough I cant say)

You gotta secure kills with nades, the 65 AIM on rookies will fuck you over, 95% of the time. Especially on commander and higher. Never trust them to make a clutch play. Also, don't try to go for "melee" range to get that shot in the face. If you trigger the 2nd pack before you kill the 1st, you dun goofed.

also: half-cover is a lie. You might as well have no cover at all.

the tutorial goes on a bit, the 2nd mission is always recover the transmitter, but tactically you arent restricted after the 1st mission.

True. Wasn't saying the problem was completely gone and I think its fine to do it once in awhile on missions that aren't timed.

Whoever posted here saying that RNG isnt locked in your saves so you can continue reloading until it hits, i call bullshit.

Currently reloading a save with 94% sword rate, 90% hit rate on 2x targets and not once have i hit anything in 20+ tries. It has locked in my death and i have to accept it.
Useless wet fish.

Flashbangs are awesome! I always bring at least one on each mission because they make my life so much easier.

And on another note, I actually like that there are more missions that are timed in this game. Gives some nice variety to the gameplay.

timer missions in xcom 2 are like park admissions in RCT2, its better for gameplay to have them, but you miss the old ride admissions.

Yeah, flashbangs are pretty damn good. Reduces aim and mobility, and for Sectoids if they made a ZAAAMMMBIEEEEE or mind controlled someone, a flashbang to the face kills the zambie and removes the mind control.

Going to need to start making some flashbangs then.

For me the early game was by far the hardest, it has leveled out a bit now once I got armor. Playing on Commander non-iron man.
I've loaded twice so far, once on the tutorial mission with the train (lol) and once on another mission where I outsmarted myself something fierce. Put up a ring of overwatch people around an advent drop, moves a guy 1 tile to the left to get hard cover just in case, a mech comes into view from about half the map away and walks in drawing away all my overwatch shots. Find myself flanked by mech and friends as a squad of advent drops in on the other side.
Think I have lost 4 guys not including the tutorial people in other missions.

Still wondering what your supposed to do with your buildings early on. You have power for 2 buildings, I got a lab and guerilla center for squadsize but it's taking forever to get to a new power node and you can't build anything new, upgrade coms or pretty much anything else.
