Ah, they added those details after I first saw the patch notes get posted. One thing that I think that they forgot to mention: I think ammo has been increased for artillery across the board.

So I just attempted a Couronne Campaign on Very Hard. Probably the dumbest example of "fuck the player" ever.
You start off at war with Marienburg. You still have to deal with the Greenskin invasions and then within 5 turns Marienburg invited the Dwarfs of Karak Ziflin and fucking Scourge of Kain somehow to war with me, by the time I had stabilized my main province, Skaeling was sending literally 3 full stacks every other turn at me.
I finally gave up when Nordland declared war while I was under siege by3 Skaeling stacks and saw a fourth one land and the Computer wasn't assaulting the castle.
So I'm supposed to somehow fight off the entire fucking world with 1 army since I can't raise any more troops as Bretonnia until I get an upgraded 3 stables. Yea.

I find Hard + Very Hard combat the most fun for the beginning. On Very Hard armies that are weaker then you tend to attack and lose horrible hard, so you get settlements for free, and rebellions usually attack to early and you dont have to react to them. Makes very hard in some cases easier even if the enemy has 3 army stacks vs your single one.
I want fancy Warhammer 2 Legendary Lord skill trees for my Lords in mortal realms.

I decided to do my first ME playthrough with empire and go beat up the dark elves for generally being dicks to empire people. Also since I learned Marienburg is supposed to represent Amsterdam (and I'm Dutch) I really want to confederate those guys for once, but I know they're super stubborn. Any tips?
Also, you don't need WH1 installed to play ME right? Kinda running out of space...

I know everybody wanted the ME campaign, but it's kind of rendered the Vortex campaign obsolete, don't you think? What do you guys suggest?
|
Idk, Vortex is still somewhat objective based so there are different approaches that you can take. Also ME turns take forever, seriously thinking about playing more Vortex because I've got like 15 seconds downtime every turn during AI moves even when the AI does nothing.
Btw trying out High elves and I'm really dumbfounded by the lack of armor pierce. I know I'm pampered by DEs, but it's really weird to play with a race that can go archers only at t3 and basically needs to change their army comp entirely in lategame to deal with armor. I guess I'll add some artillery until I'm able to add some Phoenixes. The artillery seems to be the same as the DE's and that thing felt really potent compared TWW1 artillery.

Just two questions before I start my first game. Ultra unit size setting.
1. Is direct damage spells same as before or did it get buffed? 2. Are singular units like eagles, phoenix, dragons, etc worth using now?

Teclis had 700 kills in the final battle for me only using spells. Damage spells are worth it but not overly op unless the enemy clumps up. Monsters are kind of good but not op.

I'm about 80 turns into my Empire/Gelt campaign. The vampire factions have been going apeshit in my campaign, so I have been spending a lot of time killing vampires. I went west first and took Artois and Lyonesse from Mousillon. I consolidated my holdings, got my doomstack going (Gelt, 4 greatswords, 4 handgunners, 3 reiksguard (1 is Zintler's), 2 cannons, 2 hellblasters, the Royal Altdorf demis, and the Templehof Luminark) and then headed east to take out the Vampire Counts and Van Carsteins, who were dominating the Dwarves and Orks in the South. My Gelt doomstack just killed 4 VC stacks in one battle at the Moot (Gelt is really damned good now), so now the road is open for me to charge into the Sylvanias and rip the heart out of the vampire factions.
In other parts of the world, Lothern is dominating as usual. Teclis seems to be taking over Lustria. Last Defenders are doing well in the Southlands. Skaven are taking it in the ass as always (seriously, CA needs to fix this). Norsca trash tribes are also running amok (Varg/Surtha Ek is the Number 1 faction). I still haven't seen Chaos yet.

ME installation has broken my Queek vortex campaign No more skaven ambush stance, can't do one of the quest battles and generally went from curbstomping elves and lizards to being everyone's bitch
I've decided to roll out the brayherds in ME to vent my frustration...

Yea before someone else does. Marienburg is such a huge economic settlement that either it gets taken by someone else or they form up into a big powerhouse and wreck politics around your Empire campaign.

It's most of the time a turn 6-turn7 capture. Now they are at war with bretonia which makes it almost trivial to capture it.

I'll rename it Warhammersterdam

My epic skaven vs malekith standoff got wrecked by the ME update as well I will still wipe him out just out of spite.

If you are Empire, it seems Bretonnia gets Marienburg if you try to secure your entire starting province first. Gotta race them for it.

So, the Vampires dominating in everyone's game? WH:2 had issues with the Necrarch throwaway faction taking over most of the Southlands and now in my Dwarf ME campaign VC + Carstein has basically destroyed the empire running around with more then 5 full stacks before turn 40.

Yeah, Vamps have been really strong in my games. It's like pre-Norsca Vamps, but now they can settle anywhere. I'm also a little annoyed at how strong the trash Norsca factions always seem to be.

Didn't it used to be that the AI vamps were really strong because of the way the computer auto resolved with zombie units?
