I'm not against mantle or anything but people are over hyping it a lot. For RTS games at least I don't think it will have a major impact on framerates, maybe 10% at best.

Those mantle videos.......... I never drop below 100 FPS on a maxed out unigine heaven but keeping at 60 fps lategame zerg can be challenging. The pathing on sc2 is just a CPU meatgrinder, I don't really see much use in any graphics API to make it much better. That video was just a bunch of stationary targets doing some particle effects, its not like you couldnt do that with a decent setup without mantle. Games these days are heavily bottlenecked by the graphics API. They're hugely reliant on a main thread for simulation and the api related tasks for the GPU. WoW runs 1.5x faster on Nvidia hardware (even though GPU is at 20% load, it's heavily CPU bound) because of driver CPU efficiency. Stuff like this: is all over the web. ![]() They improved grey goo FPS by like 1.5x by doing nothing but reducing the batch count API was dealing with in 1 patch. Starcraft 2 uses dx9. ![]() The gap between dx11 and dx12 is like 5-10x bigger than dx9 vs dx11, for CPU performance on a CPU with 4 or more strong cores. see this pic for dx11 vs dx12 cpu utilization ![]() That's a ~2.5 - 3.5x performance gain which has actually been shown in some real situations already (that much less work is done on the main thread, which is the huge bottleneck for performance) It's still a challenge to thread lots of stuff in an RTS - but they specifically talk about that in the videos, making groundbreaking steps towards efficiently threading lots of stuff that historically has been done serially.

Hopefully they work fast because this game is fun to play when you can actually find a game. I was just about to complain how Greybox and fast cannot go into same sentence but I noticed you put it into two. Good job ![]()

Good job ![]() Well I give this game about 10 more days - that is, until the end of next weekend. After that I think it's has its chance and any sale will be too late because the hype for large-budget RTS titles will overshadow the effect any sale might have on potential growth.

Only a big steam sale together with a good marketing push can revive it. But I think devs given up on the game and are making something else by now. Good thing I didn't waste 50$ on it. I love how your attitude about the game has completely changed, "Good thing I didn't waste 50$ on it " lol... if the Devs gave up on this game and really are not working anymore on it + working on something else , that is utterly pathetic. I can't believe I spent like 100$ on this game because I was so overly hyped + data capped internet lol...This is why I only play StarCraft for 15+ years, is b/c of silly stuff like this. -_-

But my saying they moved on was a statement of frustration.

So now I don't trust them until they prove otherwise. But my saying they moved on was a statement of frustration. Did HuK / destiny and bikerush stop playing? I may try and stream / play some of it tonight since its been weeks, I kinda want to play with the goo, im really sad this game isn't doing better, I really enjoyed it

They are really lacking in a decent big player base... which will probably hurt the most in the end. Anyway, how do you guys handle the movement of faster/slower units in compositions? I`m currently using the movement speed equalizer (checkbox in options) and then strg + click the unit type i want to position... and that feels a bit complicated. Hotkey'ing would probably be the best way, but i still have to get used to the grid in general (no complain, lack of playing). tl:dr So what are your prefered ways of managine unit movement? And (if so,) how many unit control groups do you set up?

The player numbers are unexplainable bad. Well, the framerate has been discouraging me lately. I just upgraded my computer though, so who knows now. I seem to be up 30 fps or so with my new processor/RAM ![]()

so the game has been out for a while , worth buying ? I got enough hours of entertainment out of the single player alone to justify the purchase. The playerbase is relatively stable, having 40 online late at night is skewing it. The daily average is still about 200. It is declining, but very slowly compared to last month.

Maybe we need to start TL Clan / Group, host tournaments and events to try and repopulate the game. EDIT : Skype is TelecomRG if you would like to discuss "trying" to help this cause
