Building through hotkeys is inspired by dota? Really? What about cnc games?

And the slow units is more like cnc3? Cnc3 is probably quicker than sc2.

Hey if I reduced your statements down to nonsensical complaints that didnt even resemble what I said in the first place then you'd probably look pretty silly too.

4:55
It is actually kinda inspired by dota style games, in the way that you can access almost anything -in fact everything in the game fire a set of key combinations.
So I want to build a structure I don't have to go back to my base... etc...

That's your exact quote... it obviously is not inspired by dota.
Afterwards you said you could do it in cnc games as well, missed that part last time (not that it changes anything about your earlier statement though).

13:17
It's quite slow I noticed so if your looking for a high speed rts then this is obviously not it.
You would be playing something like starcraft 2 for that.
It really does remind me of the speed of something like command and conquer 3.

Again, that's your quote, literally the only thing quicker about sc2 is the fact that there is more to do...
More apm/multitask... the units, the game progression etc are quicker in cnc3 than sc2.
But then again sc2 apm/multitask is only seemingly so high because the absolute best are playing it.
You can still easily be a master+ player with under 100 apm.

Anyway, I guess that this is just nitpicking and doesn't matter much for your target audience.
Hence why I replied here and not on youtube or anything.

Eh, yes it certainly change the way his first statement reads... In context it's a descriptive way of telling his audience how it works, not directly implying the devs made it to mimic dota games.

You know, since we're nitpicking.

It took 3 years for BW to be balanced - I'm not worried about that. Being fun to play is much more important than being a good eSport because designing games specifically for being an eSport is stupid. I think they'll get around to balancing it because this looks like the first project Petroglyph did in a long time that people are actually strongly considering buying.

One other pretty cool thing about this game: walls. Cheap, tough armor, and you can even garrison units into them. Very much in the old spirit of C&C (Tesla Coil behind concrete for those that remember) and it's a really great mechanic that has a really big effect on how the game is played.
History will sooner or later sweep the European Union away without mercy.

Hello, I'm Maniac on the ladder. I've finished the campaign and played about 30ish multiplayer games as Random, and here's what I've discovered. Oh, BTW, I was a Diamond Random player when I last played Starcraft 2 seriously (back when HotS was new).

Singleplayer

1. The mission difficulty ramps up very quickly after the first mission. The first mission I wasn't able to complete on my first try was the third mission. It just gets harder after that. Granted, I was playing on Hard, but I've heard reports of people getting pwned on Easy and Normal.

2. Mission difficulty goes down a bit when you get to the first Human and the first Goo missions, but they quickly ramp up in difficulty after that.

3. The AI has been confirmed not to cheat. Granted, they get to start in very favorable terrain and have a lot of resource nodes, but they can't actually do anything that an actual player can't do. It's actually possible to rush the enemy base in some Goo missions, because they don't start with a whole army right away.

Multiplayer

1. Ground units are slow but have infinite ammo, while air units are very fast but have limited ammo. Air units are the closest equivalent to spells in Blizzard-style RTS games; the Beta Nimbus (bomber aircraft) is the rough equivalent of Psionic Storm, in that you can't just spam it and have to wait for it to reload. Basically, if you get harassed by an enemy force and your army is out of position, you use aircraft to take them out while your ground forces move into position. And finally, if your aircraft are hanging around an area with no ammo (probably because you gave them an attack move command before they finished reloading), you can press J to send them back to base to reload.

2. Goo vs. Goo is extremely micro-intensive. Each point of damage dealt to a Mother Goo is one point of resources lost, so you have to micro really hard to harass the Mother Goo while dodging its attempts to devour you.

3. Human/Beta vs.Goo requires the non-Goo player to build defensive structures to not automatically lose to an all-in Goo rush (the equivalent of the SC2 6pool). For the first two days, people were losing instantly to Goo cheese until people figured out that building just a few defensive structures will ward off the Goo. For the Beta, you need a few Towers (one on your headquarters covering your production facilities and Refineries, and one for each Extractor. For the Humans, you just need one Anti-Heavy Sentinel that covers your Refinery and first Factory (Human units are superior to Goo units in a stand-up fight, so you don't really need to cover your Extractor). Anti-Heavy Sentinels can also be teleported around your base (default hotkey: Alt+Q) as needed (it only takes 5 seconds to reposition it).

4. You can blind fire artillery into the fog of war by using the Attack-Ground command (Alt+Right-Click). I managed to drive off a massive army that was hidden in the woods near my base by having my artillery blindly fire into the area. A few seconds later, my air scout saw a massive, badly-damaged army retreating out of the woods.

5. Also, you can lead your artillery shots in case of moving enemy units by using Attack Ground. I managed to wipe a large number of units in a Human mirror match by leading my Howitzer shots.

6. Air scouting is very important in all matchups, especially vs. the Goo. Air scouts are extremely fast, have huge sight range, and are very cheap. They can't see into brush, so you still need to position ground scouts to see into them.

7. Also, you should never blindly attack-move your army into an area where you don't have sight if you're playing against the Goo. Goo Proteans ignore terrain, and can come slithering downhill to devour your whole army. Also, units devour by the Mother Goo turn into resources for the Goo player, so being careless will not only make you lose your whole army, but will also allow the Goo to build more units.

Goo feels like the most interesting race. Not only to play with but also to play against. It's a breath of fresh air.

Ups. Haha. My mistake.
I was watching BikerRush stream and someone named LiquidSnute donated a bit to him and told him thanks and that he decided to get the game due to his stream :D

Reason not to play the Goo: The Goo mirror matchup is basically just ling/bane vs. ling/bane until somebody messes up, at which point the game is over.

GvG is an intense game of hide and seek. You have to constantly scout, and you have to hide your Mothers from enemy scouts because as mentioned before, the Mother Goo's HP = your resources. If you have good micro, you can harass enemy Mothers with your Drovers, which will delay their second Mother Goo or force them to create a Small Protean to ward off your Drovers (similar to how attacking a Zerg player will force him to waste larvae on units instead of drones). However, the Drover is a very short range unit, so if you simply attack move and don't micro, the enemy Mother can devour it and gain resources from it.

Drovers themselves are like Zerglings/Firebats which deal splash damage in a cone and can fire while moving. They're the fastest ground unit in the game, and are very important for keeping tabs on resource nodes.

Also, Crescents (Goo artillery unit) are extremely powerful in all matchups. They deal 100 damage with 0 armor penetration and have a lengthy cooldown. However, the maximum armor in the game is 10, so they deal at last 90 damage to everything. Also, they ignore terrain like Colossi in Starcraft 2. Two Crescent volleys will kill most ground units, which is quite convenient considering you get 2 Crescents from a Large Protean. Their main counter in GvG is the Small Protean, which is fast enough to catch up to the Crescent and able to ignore terrain like the Crescent. In a pinch, Tempests (anti-air) can intercept Crescent artillery shots, but it's a temporary solution at best.

Radiants (Goo scout unit) are also very important because they have a huge sight range and can see into high ground. Mother Goo downhill ambushes are very powerful, and if the Mother survives, it gains resources for each unit eaten. You need Radiants to prevent this from happening.

Destructors (main battle tank) and Striders (anti-tank infantry) aren't very useful in a Goo mirror match, from my experience. You're better off morphing your Large Proteans into Crescents for hit and run artillery volleys. Small Proteans are better off made into Drovers and Radiants.

How viable are Dwellers? They seem like they'd be pretty good at making expanding a pain in the ass for your opponent (especially against Humans/Beta, for whom getting access to a new resource node is a much bigger investment than for the Goo). Are Crescents just too good to bother?

What did they say? Will there be physical copies? Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer having a nice box over a list in steam.

There's a physical version out here in Germany, but apparently nowhere else.
