It is still a Steam version but maybe it lowers the amount of GB you need to download.

Now that people mention it, I'm intrigued about what the speed of the game is, I was always unhappy with how fast SC2 was and felt more comfortable with BW's speed, so, I hope it's similar to that.

The MP portion of it is probably unbalanced as hell, but I mean, it's been like what 4 years? and SC2 is still an unbalanced mess so, I wouldn't not try it based on possible unbalanced units/factions etc. Seems fun, really wished I could give it a try but my pc sucks. And for the people watching the TB WTF, I mean, really?, my mom knows more about RTSs than TB. You'll get more out of watching play through or something and judging for yourself. You do know TB is owner of a sc2 pro team?

Units move slowly, but the pace of the game is rather quick. Meaning, units build quickly and die quickly, and whole armies can melt in seconds (especially against artillery units). It can get pretty crazy, I've lost 100 supply worth of units (out of max. 200) to one volley from Goo artillery. Also the Beta race epic unit pretty much shoots nukes.

Aesthetics/Graphics: I don't really like the "realistic" style (I prefer the style of RA2 and BW) but in this case they actually did a good job. It's a nice game to play or watch on stream, graphics-wise. Gameplay mechanics: Not bad. I like the QWERT macro system (you can make every unit by combinations of the QWERT keys, you can do that from anywhere), combines a lot of what I like from Starcraft and the C&C series. For better or worse, you spend much less time macroing than in either Starcraft. Campaign: Short and doesn't have the storyline depth of the best C&C games. I give them some slack on this front knowing that they aren't exactly the wealthiest company right now. But the single-player has always been he best part of C&C games, so I hope for better in the future. I also wish they had added a galactic conquest mode like in Empire at War. That was a lot of fun and it's a really cool feature. Overall: Definitely worth it if you like C&C. In terms of multiplayer, it's good but it's not better than Starcraft.

the other two factions seem to fall under the same archetypes but the goo is really unique. no air units and incredible versatility. the formless goo is more useful then the units it produces in certain situations, which leads to really interesting decision making and the ability to adjust your army composition literally during the battle. the goo "base" has a double use as a strong siege unit, which is pretty neat. Theres a unit that taunts enemies and blocks LOS which can be pretty fun. I havnt played much of Humans or the Betas but from what i can tell they are pretty similar. Small Protean goo probably needs a speed nerf. or have wall jumping removed. that shit is almost as bad as reapers ![]()

I liked the C&C series when it came out a long time ago, and spent a lot of time with the original and Red Alert. But I think I will hold off until at least a Steam summer sale to consider purchasing it. So many games I haven't gotten around to yet

From being featured on the front of Steam, to a big name like TB streaming and youtubing it, and Destiny and Trump playing it for a bit on stream. If none of these happen and maybe the other ways of promoting it didn't happen, would it sell well? Most games sell well because of add campaigns and not because of quality. Some rare games like Divinity Original Sin sell well only because of word of mouth.

Beta vs. Goo and Beta vs. Human can be fun, but Beta vs. Beta is super super boring. I'll have to try Goo out for sure, not sure if Human really looks that fun though.

Day9 or Artosis I would pay attention to.

Not sure you're aware but that's his job, he does that for a lot of games. You're looking for a specialist's opinion, doesn't make TB's video less relevant to most people.

Yes, I'm aware, I actually watch some of his videos when I'm interested in a specific game. It already looks like it's a pretty good games and I've watched some reviews that confirmed that, so I don't need TB to tell me more of that. What I would like to know is whether is good competitively to have some fun online with it, and since this is the biggest SC community that is mostly interested in competitive play, I wouldn't go to TB for this, but you're right it doesn't make it any less valid for everyone else who doesn't care about that.

TB is good to listen to because he knows what a good game consists of. Not necessarily what veterans of a genre will enjoy most, but just what requires a game to be good and likeable. I always go to him if I need a (second) opinion on a game that I'm thinking of buying.
