Meanwhile console gamers are still paying 60 bucks for ~10 hours of gameplay. This game has pretty high production values (and thus costs) so I wouldn't expect it to go <10€ any time soon.

Tangent about how expensive €40 is: + Show Spoiler + I don't use a console, it's an inferior gaming platform and the games are incredibly expensive for what they are. If people are silly enough to spend that much money on console gaming, that's their right. €40 has been expensive for a while now. Starcraft 2 was worth the €60+€40 I spent on it since it has basically infinite re-playability. I spent even more money on Age of Empires III (vanilla game and two expansions) and that was also worth it because it's one of my favorite games of all time. Both of these games are excellent RTS games which have active communities and excellent game play. So while I would spent €40 in a heartbeat for Age of Empires IV or Starcraft 3 (maybe even AoM2), I have 0 incentive to spend €45 on a game which I'm not familiar with at all. I watched a few streams, had no idea what I was looking at. I noticed the game-play was quite slow, though. If the game as an RTS is equivalent to AoE or SC, why not? But how can we be sure? Is the community active? Micro? Macro? I have no idea. In the mean time you have pure gems which are being sold like hot cakes. I got Il-2 Cliffs of Dover, which is also and AAA+ title, for like €10 (it's easily worth €40). I got Skyrim for less than €4. I got Witcher 2 for less than €5. Witcher 1 I got for a couple €, same for Far Cry 2. CS:GO, though I've never bought, is only €13. Then there are the free games like LoL, Hearthstone, Dota 2, 0 AD, Archeage, Hawken, STARBOW, not to mention all the free games you can get without spending a dime if you watch the "pc game sales thread". €40 is expensive; you can be haughty about it if you want, in the meantime I'm not really inclined to buy a game that expensive. I came in the thread for information about the game, so how about you tell me what's so great about grey goo instead of telling me how much I should value my monies.

I would pay 30 for it the most without being able to test it before. If there would be a demo and i love it, i would pay up to 50 euro.

Building through hotkeys is inspired by dota? Really? What about cnc games? And the slow units is more like cnc3? Cnc3 is probably quicker than sc2. ![]()

I can imagine that after you've played a few dozen games you want the speed to go up a bit, similar to how in BW fastest was eventually standardized as a gamespeed. I mean, a slow speed for the campaign is probably fine -- it's been five years since the last C&C game after all so people are rusty. SC2 would be perfectly fine on Fast for the campaign as well, but probably not for the multiplayer.

Still, with enough positive reviews and an active multiplayer, I could see myself buying this, just because it's an RTS and I want to support RTS games. it's really expensive though

I feel a lot of games recently are trying to claim "old school" gameplay when in reality it's just bad/cheaply made. This really does feel like a traditional, late 90s RTS game with today's tech, so far anyway

Every non-f2p game you listed has been out for years. You're comparing day 1 release day pricing to Steam sale prices. Waiting for sales is never a bad idea, especially if it's a game on Steam, but $50-60 is pretty standard pricing for new releases (non-indie) and has been that way for a long time. I don't think it's out of the ordinary. But like most PC games now, there'll probably be a big price cut in a year or less. I've stopped buying most PC games on day1 simply because of how quickly they go on sale. As someone who grew up with C&C, I'm really interested in getting this. Waiting for more reviews though..
