Pretty much title, feel free to include your fav BGM/VGM as well as pics for the games you've played!
ALSO ITT: FAV VGM from games that you've played countless times. Should have mentioned that in the OP. ALSO ITT: Recommendations for other gamers to play the games you're obsessed with.
The games I've played countless of times.
Megaman Zero 1 to 4.
+ Show Spoiler +Finished it around 9 times for each game. Never gets old. Fav VGM/BGM. A remix/reprise of my favourite theme from this game, by the same author. + Show Spoiler +
Golden Sun 1 and 2.
+ Show Spoiler +probably finished this game 20 times each. I can't even remember. I'm still thinking of beating it again, in my younger years in Elementary and Junior High, I'd routinely beat this game each summer around 7 times. So I can't even remember. + Show Spoiler +There never was a dark dawn. Fav VGM/BGM first "true" boss battle. + Show Spoiler +Isaac's battle theme. Gives me chills to this day. Props to Motoi Sakuraba. + Show Spoiler +
Star Ocean 1 - 2 + Show Spoiler +
+ Show Spoiler +Star ocean is full of awesome BGMs, so I don't know what to pic. I guess this is my favourite one because it gave me intense feels. ): A sad game. + Show Spoiler +
Tales of Symphonia 1 + Show Spoiler +and only 1 + Show Spoiler +there was no Tales of Symphonia 2, or rather, it never existed. not to me or anyone, pls don't remind of ToS2
I beat this game several times, probably one of my favourite games in the Japanese-RPG section, but Star Ocean and Golden Sun are still up there. It's hard to choose.
will post more if thread blows up.

Too many abbreviations... D:
What is ITT, FAV, VGM, and BGM?
|
Tos was too long for me to play twice. But that game was soooo good
|
Off the top of my head, games that I have played through completely at least 5 or more times would be :
PC - Startopia - X-com UFO/TFTD - Deus Ex - Syndicate Wars
SNES - Starfox - Aladdin - Pilotwings - Super mario world
Amiga - Wizkid (Probably the best game ever made) - Zool - Goldrunner II
|
I have no idea what ITT stands for (other than Intense Testicular Tension), but I can give you a game I have played countless times:
Schleichfahrt (English: Archimedean Dynasty)
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/xiczzzb.jpg)
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/GcaGy3E.jpg)
The whole world needs to live underwater because the surface is contaminated after a nuclear holocaust. You start in a crappy submarine and a few torpedoes and go your way as an independent mercenary. The game can be very tactical and there are many ways to complete each mission. Also, the story and the atmosphere of the game is among the best I've ever seen.
You can still download it here (and run it in DOSBox): http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/27183/Archimedean Dynasty.html

I had lots of free time as a kid, I played through that game quite a few times. I have like 3 saves right now, 1 on dolphin emulated, and the rest on my GameCube.
|
Besides Dota 2, I play a lot of single player 3rd shooter games just for the sake of killing innocent people and police.
1. Hitman Blood Money http://gamerside.fr/hitman/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/hitman-blood-money.jpg
After finishing the game, I repeat the missions, trying different tactics on killing every one. I memorize the missions so well that I know the exact timings where a NPC (non player character) will go at the map. I usually go on a knife rampage like a serial killer. The NPC's also have funny reactions like pleading for their lives, running or screaming hysterically.
2. GTA San Andreas + GTA 4 I get to murder more people blow things up here as well. My routine is usually slay hobos in the street. Obviously the Police will chase me and I would ride Fast Motorbikes, Combat Helicopters and fight a one army battle. I also get to open fire in a gay bar, killing everyone inside. These fast paced action moves really get me and I would burst in laughter everytime.

Let's see; Starcontrol II and it's modern day open source port Urquan Masters, the first three xcom games, Colonization, Masters of Orion, Heroes of Might and Magic.

I was thinking the same thing, especially the first 2. Sometimes abbreviations only complicate things.
On topic: Final Fantasy 3 (or 6) and FF1. Super Mario 3, Super Mario World, Super Mario RPG are pretty good, too.
|
Wow, this is the first forum I've ever been to where people didn't know what ITT, VGM, or BGM meant.
On topic: Paper Mario. I think I've played through that game like 9 times. It just never gets old for some reason.
|
Pharaoh Caesar 3 Zeus Thief 1 and 2 Alundra Age of wonders 1
|
Yea I don't get that... "ITT" seems at best redundant.. and worst.. well.. alienating :D Start of with an abbrieviation and then use a screen long sentence to ask: "What is your favorite game and background music?"
On topic: Never care much about the music.. usually always muted the games and put on something else to listen to. As for completely multiple times; X-Com Apocalypse (I find the game and possibilities very deep! Especially on higher difficulties) Might & Magic VII (The whole MM series is pretty good, and the music fits it very well and doesn't get too tiresome!)
|
Super Mario 6 golden coins on GB was the only decent game I had for it for a while. Same goes for AOM on PC. Such a shame ESO online isn't maintained anymore
|
I couldn't remember how many days & nights I play Quake 3.
Broodwar campaign, Heroes 3 M&M, Heroes 4 M&M are the next.

Yeah I'm also pretty surprised so many people don't know these abbreviations. Maybe it's because there's so many international users.
Also on topic: Morrowind. So, SO much better than any of the other games that came after it. Just so much more immersive somehow.
Ogre Battle 64 also ranks up there pretty highly. I used to go back and replay that game once every couple years.
+ Show Spoiler +
I also speedrun Super Metroid occasionally, and every couple years I break out Ikaruga and try to set a new personal record. I'll never forget the first time I broke ten million on Ikaruga! Also, DAT OST, maaaaaan

Final Fantasy 9. At least one replay every 3-4 years. Full on immersion, read every dialogue and stuff, usually lasts me about a week + since I complete certain side stuff like the Chocobo quests.
Fair to say that it was the first game I fell completely in love with. First played it when I was 12, and without a guide, my first playthrough lasted me months.
|
Fallout 2. Best fallout game in the series imo. Definitely my fav one in the series. Played through it at least 5 times already.
FF7, boring answer but yeah, definitely played it too many times.
I played through Borderlands 1 about 3 times too, DLCs included.
|
Final fantasy 7 and 10. Pokemon gen 1 / 2. Halo 2. Over. And over. And over. And over. AND OVER. Loved every minute of it.
There are many more that ive sat and played multiple times, like Golden Sun, Xenogears, Tales of Phantasia etc, but i've never completed many of them nor played them with enough vigor to say they were my endless grinds D:

In terms of hours spent on a game, I think the Top 4 is : -Starcraft, and Starcraft BroodWar : I spent so much time without internet on SC 1.0. Playing all the campaigns many times, playing vs the comp (on The Small Divide by building 100 turrets and killing it with 8 BCs). I also spent so much time on the editor (and X-Tra editor) making campaigns I've never finished. -Diablo II and LoD: hundred of hours in solo, and open battle.net, then hundred of hours on battle.net closed. -Duke Nukem 3D : I spent a lot of time Build the map editor, I've made hundred of more or less shitty maps. -Warcraft III : so much time playing the campaign, playing casually on battle.net and on the editor, making campaigns I've never finished like on BW.
I also finished many times Dyna Blaster (Bomberman), Doom II, Quake 1, Half Life, Super Mario World, Super Mario Bros 3, Kirby Dream's Land 1 and 2, played a looot of Quake 3, UT, UT2004... I also spent a lot of time on Osu!
There are many others games which I love, but these are the games I spent the most of time.
|
Definitely the old Gothic games (Gothic 1-3, Risen 1) and Jagged Alliance 2 (plus various mods and patches) for me. Such great games! Of course, the graphics and controls are horrible by today's standards, but the gameplay is still unparalleled. I don't know how often I've gone back and replayed them. I played through Gothic 1 just last month. Diablo 2 once belonged into this list as well, but I haven't touched it ever since Diablo 3 came out and somehow spoiled the whole Diablo series for me.
|
Diablo I (no way to count how often i killed diablo) Syndicate XCOM Enemy Unknown (the classic game) Doom Quake1 Heretic Hexen Duke3D Descent XWing and TIE Fighter series Warcraft II (mainly multiplayer though) SCBW (mainly multiplayer though)
These days i am playing Total Annihilation Zero frequently.
|
Warcraft 2: God I played through the campaign so many times. Best game ever, best music, warcraft universe was a lot less cartoony back then. Probably my most played offline game by far.
Rayman: Never had consoles when I was young, so Rayman > Mario in my heart this game was actually so fucking hard.
Caesar 3: Replayed recently, gameplay still good.
AoE 2: First game I played online, I was so fucking bad lol :D
|
Completely agree with Golden Sun. Fuck Dark Dawn, I bought a DS just to play that game, hoping it would be at least half as good as TLA, but no..
|
Rite, I forgot city building series. Caesar 3 & Pharoah, played like 1000 times each.

I beat Half Life 2 13 times as a kid. Fuck i loved that game soooooo much! Also Halo 1 Campaign, played that constantly, since i had modem for internet.

Two very old PC games that I played loadssssss. I got them as a gift from my uncle, I strongly suspect he picked them up cheaply in a bargain bin but I didn't care, loved them both.
I want a sequel for Project Eden so bad, I thought the gameplay of switching between characters with different skills to solve puzzles was great. If anyone can recommend similar games I'm all ears.

the two games i play every year again are Half-Life 1 and Jagged Alliance 2 The feeling of Half-Life 1 for me is still not reached by any other shooter. This feeling you had back in 1999 walking alone through the black mesa facility, everything evolving into pure chaos and epicness....holy shit. and jagged alliance 2 is simply the best turn-based tactic game of all time. where also the love they put into every character of the mercenaries is still unmatched compared to 99% of other games characters. it created so much depth and you got to love every one of your little mercs ( kyle "shadow" simmons was also the reason for my first ingame nick when playing the counter-strike betas a bit later. simply "shadow"). and the face slap scenes with deidranna never get old "ELLIOTT YOU IDIOT *SLAP* *SLAP* "

Goldeneye 64… Ive got all the cheats unlocked… That took time (+ tons and tons and tons of multiplayer). I was seriously good at this…
Secret of Mana… Multiplayer Hack’n’slay/RPG… Cool! I had like 10 playthrus and 1 time got maxed out (including orb grinding).
Zelda 1 and 2… For some reason i played these more than all the later versions. Objectively i think the SNES Zelda was the best ever made while OOT is very overrated. Fun „fact“ my Zelda 2 cartridge was somehow broken.. I made it like 15 times to that last bit of „red sand“ before the final temple… Were it allways crashed and after a few tries also deleted my savegame (but things like that didn’t bother you that much during the NES era… Bugs/Breakdowns and all that stuff were just something that happens from time to time :D.
Baldurs Gate 2… I still start this up from time to time now .
Super Mario Bros 2… My first game for the NES. Imho really underrated, its clearly not a „true“ Mario game but it was very good in its own right… I had more fun with this than with SMB3 and World (which both were awesome).
Wing Commander 3… So cool at the time and even with multiple ways the story could play out :D.
Super Mario Kart… Best Mario Kart by far… The time i spent in time trial just to fight against myself or times some magazin published (and feeling like god when actually having a faster time on Ghost Valley 2 and a faster lap on Star Road :p). This is actually the only racing game i was ever truely into… Mario Kart 64 was suuuuch a letdown.
+the obvious ones: HL1dm, Dota, SC/BW, D1+2…

I did obsessively play though FF4 on Gameboy when I was a kid though. First FF game and still my favorite (6 and 7 are strong too)
Roller Coaster Tycoon (1&2) was the shit back in the day
Maplestory <--- wayy too fucking addicting, it's basically just endless grinding lmao (classic pre-big bang patch that is, but those were the days)
Warcraft III <--- favorite RTS, and probably favorite game too. 1v1 is still fun and offers endless enjoyment after all these years. (can't say the same for SC too)

Timesplitters 1 and 2 (great first person shooter for GameCube). Played it daily as a kid, for years.
Luigi's Mansion, for gamecube as well. So much fun playing that, though I don't know if I'd still like it today.
METROID PRIME !!! The first (gamecube) and third (wii) ones especially, but Echoes was great as well. The environment and nuance of those games were off the charts. My favorite offline games to date, really.
Quake III (quakelive) is another game I play constantly, if we exclude SC2. Nothing can beat the hours I've put into good old sc2.

FFXII - Beaten the story at least a dozen times having used every weapon class and various other self-imposed restrictions. Most of the fun in this game for me was deciding which weapons and character configs to use for a story run. But it's still a FF game, so I have a couple files with 100+ hours where I've grinded endgame stuff, too.
Banjo Tooie - I've beaten both Kazooie and Tooie several times apiece, but I like Tooie much more and have beaten it more times.
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn - Similar situation as FFXII. Tons of runs favoring different characters each time.
Pokemon Gens 1-3 - Beaten each of the games multiple times. Sapphire and Emerald are probably in double digits. Nothing beyond though since I never really got into mobile systems beyond GBA. I own a DS and Pearl, but haven't beaten it.
GTA: San Andreas, TES Oblivion and Skyrim, Minecraft, SC2, League of Legends - games I have a lot of hours in that are more about just screwing around endlessly rather than "beating" it.
|
Probably Warcraft 3 (RoC and TFT) back in the days. Other than that old generation Pokemon games, Megaman on SNES and GTA Vice City.
|
Black Ilse RPG's such as Fallout, PS:T, BG and all that good stuff, old school RTS games such as Starcraft and c&c titles, Dungeon Keeper, Final Fantasy games prior to X2 especially VII, Warhammer Dark Omen. Those are the games I tend to like to go back to but I am not one for repeating the same games too many times in all honestly.
Just reminds me of what a great time in gaming the late 90's was. Most of the modern titles I play have not got shit on some of the classics produced in that period.
Also a big +1 to someone who linked Myth the fallen lords. That was a real blast from the past.

1. Brigandine/Brigandine: Grand Edition (only console game I truly love more than PC games) 1a. Dungeon Siege 1/2 (most fun I've ever had with friends) 2. Mortal Kombat 3. Marvel vs. Streetfighter 4. Age of Mythology 5. Jedi Knight 6. X Wing vs. TIE Fighter 7. F22-Lightning II 8. Duke Nukem 9. Mount and Blade: Warband (one of the best games ever made) 10. Battlerealms
Honorable mention to Red Alert 2, from which I got my high school gamer fame.

Sum of all fears Seven Kingdoms Dune 2000 Love Story - Taylor Swift (no joke, this song literally has over 10k plays in my iTunes).
|
Mortal Kombat 4 is game that I could play everyday. Also, I've been playing Spelunky, but that game I supposed to be played countlessly.
|
1. Super Mario Bros 3- Probably beaten it like 20 times at this point. 2. Megaman X- only Megaman game I owned, and I played it a lot. Probably beaten it 30-40 times, at least. 3. Warcraft 3 (including the expansion)- I replay the campaign every 3-4 years. Sometimes you just feel like controlling heros in a RTS. 4. Deus Ex- at least half a dozen times, with many partial playthroughs. 5. Sid Meier's Pirates- I love this game, but I always get stuck on the 3rd or 4th relative. 6. Star Control 2- replay the campaign every 3-4 years.

Besides BW/SC2 and WoW:
Mech Warrior 2 TIE fighter Jedi Knight Super Metroid Star Fox Final Fantasy VI Halo1&2 Aliens vs Predator 2 < probably my most "replayed" game of all time... so good COD:MW1/2 Mass Effect trilogy
|
Zelda: Ocarina of time (including some attempts at any% speedrunning) Skies of Arcadia legends for NGC SWKOTOR 1 & 2 Mass Effect trilogy Civilization 3, 4 & 5 Dawn of War 1 & 2
|
I'd go with: LoZ OoT Football Manager (since championship manager 02) Pokemon (AAAAAAAAAAAALL of them) Fire Emblem (every episode since the GBA ones) Shen Mue 1&2 (wish I could replay those ones!) SSBM SoulCalibur II AoE Age of Kings

Thanks, I was starting to think I'm too old for this discussion. I played Civ1 before I could even read (a catastrophy).
Younger than ~7years I played a lot of shooters. They had the extra thrill of being actually unavailable in Germany due to silly laws (they changed them only in 2003 lol): Doom 1+2 Heretic Duke Nukem 3D
After learning enough to read I got into strategy: Civilization 2 Birth of the Federation Starcraft BW

Oh Jesus. I forgot about FFT on ps1. Best. Game. Ever.
Civ 1.... I was so hooked on that. Building railroads across continents, getting so excited the first time I discovered flight, stacking like 30 units outside a city to just rape it. Man those were good times. Me and my dad used to play it. He's still absolutely hooked on civ 3 of all things. He has a shitty old windows xp computer he keeps in the house just to play civ 3 for hours. Man I nostalgia'd hard. Props to this thread.

Seconded. FFT, FFX, Zelda OOT and Pokemon R/B and G/S are the only game I've played through multiple times.

Secret of Mana Lufia 2 (a real gem not everyone knows, it has some nice riddles in it on which I struggled a lot when I was younger and without google. the "endless" dungeon was also so good, when playing on SNES it was kinda time consuming cuz you couldn't save, and also real damn hard.) Chrono Trigger Final Fantasy VII Zelda Ocarina of Time Pokemon Blue (back then, didn't play it since a long time tho, unlike all the others which I did repeat later on)
And if they count... Warcraft 3, Dota, Starcraft, Diablo 1, Diablo 2 and Path of Exile

Warcraft3 (PC) Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 (PS1) Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 (PS1) Crash Team Racing (PS1) Gran Turismo 3 (PS2) Pro Evolution Soccer 5 (PS2) Pro Evolution Soccer 6 (PC) Siedler 2 (PC) Diablo 2 LoD (PC)
WC3 changed my favorite leisure time of PS to PC in 2004, although PC was already 3 years old at that time.

lol, I remember there was a fully playable demo for Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2. We were a group of people and the aim was to get the highest score in the demo. The competition went on for months. I must have played this demo at least a thousand times.
The demo is still available for download: http://www.fileplanet.com/48954/download/Tony-Hawk's-Pro-Skater-2-Demo

I did play Team Fortress Classic for years and it's my all time favorite game.
Recently, I play lots of LoL / Civ5 / CS:GO.
As for old game that I still like to replay: Final Fantasy 4&6 Fallout 3 Megamam 2&6 Zelda on NES/SNES/N64 Simcity 2000 or 3000

That got me thinking ...:
Computer: Prince of Persia 1&2 The Settlers 2 Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Age of Empires 1&2 Civilization 1&2 Final Fantasy 7 Gothic 1&2 <instert MMO and MP only titles>
Playstation: Tekken 3 Alien Triology Crash Bandicoot 1&2 Need for Speed 3 Hot Pursuit Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2

I've played all the pokemon games 3 times at least, the kotor series more times than I remember. That and a ton of multiplayer games. I tend to just play single player games once.

I forgot GoldenEye and killer instinct gold for n64. I literally couldn't begin to estimate how many hours were sunk into those games.

Tactics Ogre Advanced has to be my one of my most played games as well, probably beat that one like 8 times. Legend of Zelda the Wind Waker -- maybe 6 times 100% unlockables " " minish cap around 10 times probably. I second those who mentioned Tales of games and Secret of mana, you're all wonderful people

I have spent so much time, almost daily on sc2 since its release. If I didn't have ladder anxiety, I would have made it to masters as a random.
I also spent years playing dota in similar fashion. I had a brunch of frends who would play with me almost every single day haha my boarding school teacher is quite upset about it lol
As for single player, I keep replaying mgs3, I am never that good at it but I loved the game.Even got the hd remaster for my vita so I can play in bed

I think I've played morrowind and alpha centauri more then any other game

Age of Wonders, Civilization, Championship Manager, Advanced Wars.

God, I want to play so many games after reading this thread. lolz

Dune 2 Fallout Vampire the Masquerada: Bloodlines Civilization III & IV Heroes of Might and Magic III The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Alpha Centauri UT 2004 Quake III Quake Disciples II Etherlords II Sacrifice Worms: Armageddon NFS: Underground Diablo Dungeon Keeper series Dawn of War series Blood Bowl Death Rally Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne Splinter Cell series (up until Conviction, which sucked and I'm too afraid to touch Black Ops or whatever the name of the latest incarnation is)
Console: Rapid Racer Vigilante 8: Second Offense Flower Journey Wipeout HD Split/Second Virtua Fighter series
I guess those are the most memorable games for me, and/or games that I keep going back to over and over again.

I rarely played single player games more than once, but when I did it was Tactical RPGs like Final Fantasy Tactics. I like to make a whole different team and really change my playstyle :D Oh actually, I started a million characters in Morrowind/Oblivion, Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gate. But I rarely finished with several of them.

I used to think so too haha, but at that time I used to live in a non-english speaking place, once I moved to Edmonton and learned english I was like OOH, that makes sense.

SC2 doesn't count, it's a multiplayer game, you can't do "re runs" of it.

I really got into the RPG sense of final fantasy tactics, I used to edit the hex code to make everyone have the name I want them to have.

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I could play that game over and over again.
|
BW: love of my life, that feeling of power when you're on top of your game and crushing face, you can feel the mind of your opponent working and it can't follow yours and keep up, there's no other game where I felt this, except maybe playing FPS, like Unreal Tournament.
SC2: a bit, it's fun, but not as much as BW because less than 1 second of mistake costs you the game
Heroes of Might and Magic 1, 2 and 3: me and my friends spent several whole summers playing this in hot-seat. the newer heroes are not really related to the first 3 imo, and I almost consider them another game. I think we played it so much that I could probably play some of the people that competitively play it and not lose terribly, or even win against some of the less skilled ones.
Alpha Centauri: love this, but I play it for a while then stop, then come back to it, never played it in MP though
Diablo 2 mod - Median XL: Ultimative: so sick, diablo 2 is a lame and retarded cousin by comparison, no offense
there's a bunch of other games I replay every year or two, but nothing as much as those above.
|
Fire Emblem 7 (the first one to be released in the states as simply Fire Emblem on the GBA) is probably the game I replay the most. Maybe once or twice a year? I just keep coming back to it. I love the characters, the hard mode, everything. I don't do any of the cheeky exploits because I feel like they sort of ruin the charm of the game, which is extremely limited resources (exp/money, especially if you don't abuse arenas.)
I really only tried it out because of Melee, haha. Which is another game I play a lot, though less so now that my brother and I don't live together anymore.
|
Sokoban + Show Spoiler + I can do that game over and over to infinity. Blade of Darkness + Show Spoiler + Engine/physics/gameplay a decade ahead of its time, it still rivals any D.Souls/RPG games of today Dooms/Quakes - no comment necessary. I've also played insane amounts just with bots in quake2; i'm bad enough to have complete fun vs bot enemies Starcraft - best game ever WarCraft 3 - so addictive Civ1 - I've played all kinds of Civs, older, newer, and no, I don't even think Civ2 is the best one, I think Civ1 is the best one. It's clean, beautiful, genius, just perfect. I've played endless hours of it. Probably missing a bunch of games... ah yeah, Mortal Kombat 4.
|
UFO EU, XCOM TFTD, XCOM Acocalypse (my most played games for sure) Doom Unreal tournament C&C Homeworld Theme Hospital Dungeon Keeper Worms (the first one and the expansion) Dawn of war Dark colony Operation flashpoint
And many others that i just can't remember right now.

UT99, still playin it cus I got it on steam (siege mod is freaking fantastic, adding RTS elements to fps done right, u build stuff, shoot stuff, create special items (invis/shield belt/dmg ampli), flying enabled (jetpack, hell yeah, free jetpacks on NIMBUS_V3) just sayin :C
Chrono Trigger? Etrian Odyssey III <100% completion>, 1st one still to be finished with quests damn :C, 2nd one was just bad IMO (still completed it) CS 1.6 (2200 hours into it :S) Source (~600 Hours) Warlords Battlecry 2/3 oh wow I WOULD really want to try this on MP :C Dungeon Siege 2 - Dark edition (Finished even the super mega awesome secret quest for LULZ, have the box and manual intact) good nobrainer if u want to lose time

It has amazing psychological effect in the game, because you've just accomplished something big and approaching something even bigger. Then this music comes up and is like "yeah, this is it, man!" I love it. + Show Spoiler + As someone in youtube comments said, I would just run around this area endlessly to keep listening to this song. (:
Also, from Blade of Darkness, slowly building cathedral atmosphere, I recommend checking out all tracks in this playlist: + Show Spoiler + This game just has great soundtrack. And that's not something that dates, which is part of why this game is still so good even today.

Splinter Cell => That game really got me, I played through the whole game like seven or even nine times on hardest difficulty withouth touching a single NPC except where it was necessary. (Retina Scanners or the last mission for example).
Battlefield 2142 => Best Battlefield ever, played countless hours online. Also greatest soundtrack ever.
Starcraft II, obviously.
|
Baldurs Gate => Completed it at least 3 times. On the last run one of its 5 or 6 CDs broke inside the drive while spinning and parts of the CD flew on head level past me until they hit a wall 5m behind me. That was the only time in my life I had an actual and real shock.
C&C Red Alert => Played hundreds of hours vs. AI. But I'm not gonna lie I was pretty bad at it.
Gothic 2 => One of the games I explored every inch of it including all mountains and blocked areas.
Age of Empires 2 => Replaced C&C Red Alert, played it hundreds of hours.
Anno 1602 => still one of the best games of its kind.
Need for Speed 3 => My brother bought the game on release but we had no PC capable of running it, so our dad had to buy a new one (Pentium II 400 MHz), what a beast that was.
Diablo 2 => Until the release of LoD I played single player only. But when I wasnt able to kill the ancients on nightmare with level 76 after countless hours of grinding I switched to playing online. LoD added 800x600 but I had to stick with 640x480.
GTA Vice City => 100%, nuff said.
Risen => It started in Gothic 2 but Risen led my exploration intentions to a whole new level, when a few including me achieved the climb onto the top of the vulcano without cheating or glitching through walls (video). I invented the skeleton trick which made it possible. We also played a 'guess where I took that screenshot' game Some examples 1, 2, 3, 4. That was maybe my best gaming experience of all time! When I started playing Skyrim the first thing I did was climbing onto the top of the mountain above the temple circumventing the windy/freezing portals and invisible walls. If there is a mountain in a game I have to climb it.
