It works better for PvP than for PvE because you play vs other people and nothing is worse than the feeling that you lost to someone because he has grinded the system longer, not because he played better.
The problem is that WoW's mantra is that you always must have time-consuming ways of improving your character to keep people playing as long as possible. If everyone PvP'd on an even playing field (thus making a good competitive experience), you lose out on character progression through PvP, and people are less likely to spend time PvPing because they never see their character get stronger.
Think about why CoD has those fucking stupid ranking systems...same basic reason. They don't give a shit about competitive play, just Skinner Boxing as much time as possible out of people.
Just from the description of how the new honor system works, it seems more egregious than the old one because you're unlocking talents that are completely overpowered but balanced around everyone else having those overpowered talents, but they won't if they're not on your honor level.
Also: abolish magic seems hilarious because I can hit the healer with UA multiple times over it's duration.

Instead of playing vs. people with better/worse gear you play vs people with less/more skills/talents. Seems like a really bad idea.

We already established in Ulduar there is more to Azeroth to explore
I mean it took us 3 games to discover Kalamdor. This is not the best world for explorers

The Broken Isles is a land at the heart of Azeroth that is long forgotten. 10,000 years ago, before the Great Sundering, the whole area was a vast Night Elf civilization. What remains after the world was destroyed is the bones of that civilization. The entire continent is a graveyard of sorts.

I think it wasn't "missing" so much as "no one goes there anymore after all that shit happened".

Interview with Tom Chilton and Ion Hazzikostas on more details. Notable things are no weapon drops, only your artifact weapons. Demon Hunters only have one weapon type (glaives) which given the aforementioned no weapon drops thing probably means little. Karazhan will be of importance and Khadgar is now leading the Kirin'Tor.
Class wise hunters are massively changed as survival is now melee with pet, beast mastery is ranged with pet and marksman is no pet while demonolgy will be more focused on the pets than metamorphosis.
Perhaps the news that people would be most eager to hear, class halls are multiplayer and garrisons are staying in Draenor.

As long as there are enough cosmetic changes for the Artifacts, them being different per spec should have more than enough variety. Wonder if you can XMog them though, just for fun.
My only issue with Artifact weapons is this: next expansion, what happens? Do we just say "alright, done enough with THE FUCKING ASHBRINGER, time to put it away while we go fight Naga or whatever", or will there just be no weapons in any expansion from here on out?
Because if you make me put away THE FUCKING ASHBRINGER, I'm going to be kinda miffed.
Also, we only had to wait 6 expansions for melee hunters LOL

I dont like not having weapon drops, tho I guess with how big of your dmg/healing is your weapon it will help with bad rng I guess. But lets look further forward. What for the expansion after Legion? If we go back to weapon drops we have 2 weapons used by only 2 specs in the game (Bow/Gun & Glaives). That feels like a bad thing. Or are we never going to get weapons again?
That said I look forward to the concept of the Survival hunter being Melee. Back to the old days of Wing clip and Raptor strike.

That's because melee hunters don't make a lot of sense. Hunters don't walk up to their prey and then grapple with it. They use guns, bows, throwing spears, blowdarts or basically anything they can use from range in order to NOT get face to face with a nasty clawed, fanged, muscled and strong beast.
Now, I know that WoW hunters are a bit different, but the name implies a ranged class. A melee hunter is basically a warrior without all its nifty tricks.

I always imagined a melee hunter to be someone who utilized traps, effects, and his pets to weaken an enemy so he could go in with the kill with his weapon. Like trapping prey and then pouncing on it to put it down.
I think that can work just fine, but it'll be interesting to see. Basically an entire new class since they'll need all new abilities and stuff.

Melee weapon, especially spears, are hardly grappling though. And all hunters would need melee skills, after all, they can't always get the drop nor expect the target to be dead when it gets to close quarters.

For me the most hype thing of that interview is that they mentioned Karazhan again. Lore wise, that's interesting as hell what could happen. Return of Medivh? More info Malchezaar & Gorehowl? So much stuff!
Now i just hope it's not a revamp/recycle of the place and instead focuses on the lore/big picture. Lower Karazhan/Crypts?

I see lower Karazhan/Crypts becoming a dungeon and the actual tower becoming the class hall for mages.
Levelling my monk atm and one of the masters says he's always dreamed of being a demon hunter, your dream can finally come true Master Cheng :>

Gorehowl probably the Arms Artifact? Would make sense, no?

God damn, i actually didn't even think about the latter part regarding class halls. Although, i can't help but feel like its a bit too sacred place for Mages to hang out just like that!

Did they mention an extra character slot ? Most people i know are at 11/11 with 1 of each class
Also not sure this will be a "fun" expansion for melees, with a new melee class and one third of the hunters also going melee, even more competion for raidspots :/

I've never played a rogue, so don't know and can't remember reading/seeing anything. But Lower Karazhan is rumored to be there, and would make perfect sense to introduce it in the future.
Oh yeah. You mean the rogue quest Blood of the Betrayer? Thats just the cellar area. Crypts is behind Karazhan, where the graveyard is located. You used to only get there with a glitch or as a ghost to explore it, afaik.

If Paladins can hang out in LHC, why not use Kharazan for mages (other than the fact that it is ginormous)?
