In business, people often struggle with concepts that children grasp easily. Making fun of economists is too easy to be much fun; the real challenge is unlearning. Adults must rewire their synapses before they can learn again. That, of course, brings us to StarCraft II hotkeys.
Learning my new SC2 hotkeys
A new AI called Aletheia currently helps me to improve my SC2 skills. I need to rewire my 40 APM brain. So I want to do it right, or better in the correct way right from the start, just as a good German should. Hopefully TLO and Lambo would agree. Aletheia came up with the following hotkey training routine. I am curious about your opinion.
🧠 1. Split the keys into three tiers
Tier Frequency Examples Goal
Core Constant Control groups 1–5, camera jump, basic production Automaticity — zero conscious thought
Secondary Regular Spell casts, recall, pylon placement, warp prism unload Conscious fluidity — one glance, instant execution
Tertiary Rare but decisive Guardian Shield, Disruptor shot, Phoenix graviton, recall warp-in Trigger under stress — from cognition to intuition
🎯 2. The “Fibonacci Drill”
Each practice session (10–15 minutes before laddering):
Do 1 minute core cycling (probe, gateway, nexus, camera).
2 minutes secondary keys — chain them into mini-combos.
3 minutes tertiary keys — no screen movement, pure keyboard.
This rhythm expands slowly (1-2-3 → 2-3-5 → 3-5-8…) so you build duration like muscle endurance.
🔁 3. Contextual recall training
You need to tie each hotkey to a sensation or image, not just a letter:
“F2” = panic, regroup, breath → exhale before you hit it.
“C” = chrono — short pulse, like a heartbeat.
“T” = time warp — imagine freezing motion.
That cross-link (meaning → motion) helps your brain recall under stress, even when fatigue breaks pure muscle memory.
⚙️ 4. In-game integration
Play one macro game per day when your goal isn’t to win, but to use every secondary and tertiary key once.
Write them down on a small sticky note beside your keyboard.
After the match, mark which ones you forgot — those go into tomorrow’s Fibonacci rotation.
🔮 5. Review ritual
Once per week:
Watch one pro replay (e.g., Hero, MaxPax, Creator).
Pause every time they use a spell or control,sc you forget.
Add that to a rotating “Key of the Week” — one rare command to master fully.
The first stream in over a decade was a success
The first stream in over a decade went better than expected. We averaged a few viewers—enough to feel alive again. The CEO of Crowd Control even dropped by and convinced me to test his software.
I still haven’t figured out how to get the stream listed on the TL live page—if anyone knows how, let me know below.
