I swear to god this guy was easier when he was current content =( You can kite them across the entire instance Oo. As soon as the RP shit starts you can run out the room, plenty of time for that so you dont need a pet to pull. Then you have the entire instance to work with.
Kill the warrior and paladin at the instance entrance. Kill the engineer in Alar's room and kill the mage in the little hallway at the entrance to Kael's room. This will let you use the walls to stop the knockback and you then have to burst down the mage, should be doable by the time the engineer reaches you.
(unless it changed since WotLK where I was doing this on my DK).

Did they change kael? I've been soloing him on druid since 80 or 85. I can't imagine it being hard for a prot pally. I used to just tank all of them near kael and grab the staff when it came up. Switch to kitty for some burst on kael in the last phase.

Paladins can't equip staves.

I'm not sure paladins can use staves tho

Yeah not being able to use the staff is a big deal since the mage is the only difficult part of the encounter since she can stunlock near infinitely.
That said with the way the squish works inside old raids I expect everyone will be 1-2 shooting her come WoD so its no big deal. (for those who dont know this, you will deal extra damage against lower level mobs so people are seeing 1+ mil hits in stuff like Naxx on the beta. And no its not a bug, its there to ensure they can still be solo'd post squish)

Difference between being soloable and being trivial though. Up until now some bosses are trivial while some bosses are harder to solo than heroic raiding or challenge modes. After the squish those hard solo encounters are basically gone, so anyone wanting to solo a boss for the challenge should definitely do it now.

True tho I assume since he's talking about Kael he wants the mount and not the challenge :p

Theoretically you're supposed to use the Staff for the stun, but Ret should probably be able to burst down the engineer that's permastunning you and be fine. It's actually not the engineer. It's the blood elf hoe with the 10 second disorient
The Engineer puts a 1 minute debuff on you that randomly stuns you for 4 seconds. It has a knack for stunning you several times in a row and only giving you maybe 1.5 seconds of free time.

you can evade the engineer stuff by moving around him in a circle while bursting him down, he targets ground with his explosive if i remember correctly
what's your second spec? as ret it was pretty easy after figuring out the engineer
edit: ah just read your other comment ret is awesome :D

I haven't ran TK on my rogue in a while, but I'm pretty sure that debuff is cloakable. Shouldn't Divine Shield work as well?

Yeah I'm not concerned about the engineer. That mage looking blood elf bitch is the one I hate. Still haven't been able to pull it off. Very frustrating considering how easy it is for other classes with burst damage. I really hate that I'm going to probably have a hunter friend help me and roll against me if it drops. Still considering making a ret set but every time I think about all the work involved in gearing another spec, I just blow it off lol

I soloed Kael for about 5 months straight on about 6 different classes ( i got my mount about 3 weeks ago ) here are a few tips that could help you:
1- Phase 1 and 2 are trivial ( as you probably have guessed at this point ) Just single dps the boss in P1 and aoe in P2.
2- Phase 3, the hard part for most people is getting rid of the mage, if you are a decently geared pally ( even if prot ) here is what i would advise you to do:
In phase 1, try to have the 3 other bosses chases you to where the mage is ( they are fairly weak in that phase so just wait until they walk up to you ) you should be able to keep them all 4 at the same spot ) When phase 3 start, drop both consecrate and a light hammer on top of it, as soon as they get up, you will usually get punted around, try to place yourself against the right pillar, you should stay close and they will stay in the AOE. I would recommend getting a pvp trinket if you aren't human, you can dispel the 9 sec stun with it. If you blow all your cool down and target the mage as much as possible, she should die before you need to bubble. After that, clean up the rest and bubble to remove the engi stun debuff if it bugs you ( it will clear all of them ) KT can still be a bitch as he will sometime cast a aoe stun that will hit you, just keep healed and he should die
Also note that it is much easier to solo than do it with someone else for 1 simple reason, when you hit the KT phase, he will MC someone randomly, increasing their HP and damage by a lot and can be only dispelled by getting hit by the dagger, i tried a few time with a friend and we mostly ended up dead before we could do anything about it. Same with classes with Pet ( even totems ) Do not use them in the KT phase, he will MC you and then he will despawn ( Even trinkets proc that give you temporary companion will do this )
Feel free to ask questions if you still struggle

well i mean, you can just use the items you use as prot, since ret is haste>mastery too only thing you need is a 2hand

Run lfr/flex as tank and set loot spec to ret on bosses that drop a 2h (iirc Sha's 2h is BiS) -> profit

Hasn't it opened for everyone yet? I got in, so I assumed so, since I'm not a very hardcore player.

Nope, and I've been playing since before my server had a lvl 60. Weighting it for veteran accounts my ass.
