In real progression during MoP, when everybody was under-geared relative to the content, Spriests were some of the worst single target DPS. This is where class balance actually matters, not when everyone is max-geared and just farming content.
I mean, yeah, if your raid is one-shotting everything under 2 minutes, which means you're starting with 3 orbs at the beginning of every fight, sure, Spriest burst is pretty insane. Unfortunately, that doesn't happen too often during progression.

Speaking of Destro, it's hilarious how bad it is when you don't have SoO trinkets.

Eh, there are worse specs for low gear levels. You can do 130kish dps at ~500 ilvl, 250k by the time your 550. Kind of plateaus there though in comparison to other specs which really take off with gear. Doesn't really matter I guess if the base line is so much higher then the others though I suppose.

Haven't played in about 18 months. Is there any single player crap to do before the expansion comes out? Like do you help Garrosh escape?

Just the usual things you do in WoW before a new expansion comes out. And no you don't help Garrosh escape, thats in the book War Crimes.

Fuck WoW books and fuck Christie Golden (I'm sure she's a lovely person).

Having left WoW, I've never felt a stronger subliminal message than this one.

SoO trinkets are nuts, I've seen a lot of heroic-geared tanks run the DPS trinket from Thok, healing trinket from Sha, etc.
edit: And that Fallen Protectors tank trinket that makes solo tanking phase 2 of Heroic Malk a joke

I don't know who either of those people are but they can't be worse at writing than Metzen.

Christie Golden is a pretty awful writer.
Read "Rise of the Lich King" and count the number of times you see any form of the word "grin" used on every page, you'll see.

Eh, I only read her SC2 stuff. Devil's Due was pretty godawful, but aside from Ethan Stewart, the Dark Templar trilogy was pretty good.

Knaak's books set a new standard for awful. Nothing else comes close.

I'm willing to bet money that most of the people criticizing the books have never actually read them.
Even so, I'm more inclined to give licensed authors a break when they turn out subpar books because they're working within a rigid framework where each character has already been defined and the story arc has already been set and you're just brought in to make it wordy. Pretty much a recipe for disaster.

Doesn't that mean their job is mostly already done..............

Believe it or not, it's actually harder because you're not writing what you want to write. In creative writing, half of the fun is the characters and story organically growing as you write within a loose framework. When the characters are already rigidly defined, you can't give them more depth without it being approved by committee, and you're stuck with cliche piled on cliche so that the characters stay static.

Slowly getting excited about this. Gonna revive my old Vanilla-Naxx main... Holy/Ret time!
