There are cases that you do want 6 max. Wall-breaking mix attackers such like Mixmence or most Hydreigon variants.
For most pokemon though, you would just want 5 max.

also just need 3 more mons to finish the dex. Articuno, weavile, gliscor. Let me know if you have any of those to trade me, even just for the caught entry (so I'd trade it back straight away)

Otherwise for 6v6, you can play on simulators online, i think it's called Showdown (google Pokemon Showdown I guess). As for your team, you might want to consider someone that set Stealth Rocks, and depending on your playstyle, a spinner.

Atm am thinking about what to make my first team, and thinking of doing something along the lines of aegislash, ferrothorn, togekiss, garchomp (mega chomp?), gengar (mega?), and maybe scizor or azumarill? Not really sure what a standard team with good coverage and good defensive mons is now, and what good openers currently are....... also just need 3 more mons to finish the dex. Sleep openers got nerfed with spore not working on grass types and the sleep count no longer reseting upon switch out. weather openers got nerfed and I reckon they'll be used later in the fight rather than the first pokemon out the gate. Honestly I think most leads will either be setting up hazards or baton pass right now tbh and of course taunt will still be awesome (WHY DID KLEFKI NOT GET TAUNT!)

He's anti metagame right now Hopefully we get Volcanion soon (Provided he actually exists)

I got 2 clamperls with items I need to evolve, a politoad with kings rock, and I need to see Articuno/Moltres. If anyone can help, that would be great :D. Edit: Got the trading/evolving portion done, just need to see moltres/articuno now.

STAB crabhammer and knock off with adaptability, ouch. Kingler has better stats on everything except for sp.atk, which is pretty pointless since both of them are meant to be physical attackers, Crawdaunts speed is abysmal in comparison also. Really depends on if you want the dark type STAB to trade off for lower stats(not to mention more weaknesses aswell) + adaptability, or if you want pure water + sheer force(33% increase in moves with secondary effects) that being said im a pretty big fan of using bad pokemon regardless, hell i use Nidoking anytime i can and he's a pretty bad pokemon, just cause he's one of my favorites haha.

Also, Kingler doesn't even get access to Superpower until Pokebank rolls out, which cripples its coverage pretty badly.

Nidoking has never been a bad Pokemon. He has an absolutely insane movepool, solid typing, and a great ability in Sheer Force. What usually lets him down is his middling Speed, and the fact that his stats in general are a little too well-rounded. Pokemon with balanced stats are often eschewed in favor of more specialized Pokemon who can run a more potent version of the same set. If only Nidoking still had Lovely Kiss, he'd be a monster.

I feel he suffers from what a majority of the old pokemon do just like you said, his stats are well rounded(and kinda low) that even his incredible movepool(seriously has access to like, everything) cant really make him OU material also, assault vest solid rock rhyperior, viable?
