The 3 to 4 level up for fields is expensive, so it is at this point where you want to recruit your army to aid you past this barrier. Then you can keep them down forever, and get some nice farms =D. GL dude, you'll catch up to a lot of us in no time if you play it patiently. I've played for ~11 days now, and it's getting pretty interesting. 2nd day of raiding, etc.
BG1, if this is your first day, you should've gotten the chance to level clay twice, wood twice, iron once, crop once, at the very least I believe. After that, you're basically done for the day. Follow my guideline from the first page. You use best judgement, I got a cranny after I got all my fields to level 3 because I had a lot of neighbors. But it turned out a lot of them are inactive and the one that were active were too afraid to attack me. So it turned out my investment in that cranny is a waste. Even now, my cranny is still level one...
After a week or so (by that time your fields should all be level 3 or higher), start upgrading your main building to level 3, then you can build a barracks.

That was a joke Frenchguy made after I bashed on decaf. Read two pages before this one.

Goddamn. I can't wait to get in the thick of things. I just though, like just-started-under-noob-protection-still, started.

A3i, just upgrade your fields right now, no building buildings yet.

And for all the people posting about PKs, yes, they are a motherfucking huge alliance and they constantly raid people that aren't allied to them. But thankfully for us, they're not in our quadrant. In the unlikely chance that they do attack any alliance of TL, it'll be -TL- because we are at the edge of the quadrant. So stop worrying...

Heyyyyyy Neo ! There are two PK guys close to me (and you) ! One (Havian I guess) scouted me some days ago and they are both 300 + pop. One has a second village and I assume they hav both a better army than mine. So no war with them for now

I leveled clay 3 times, wood twice iron once and crop 3 times because my population was getting large. I have 16 pop. now and I'm leveling a 3rd wood area with the leftover resources plus the ones I gathered in the past few hours. Got 1 clay left now .

if they do fight, we will pwn the 2 of them close to us first, and then since the rest of them are so far away from us, we can easily defend ourselves

Heh, sounds like you're on track, so no worries. If you got all that done in just the first day, you get the Neo approval. =)
More fields tomorrow, maintain the production ratio of 10:12:8:6 and you'll be on track.

Holy hell, I know Haivan and them are close by. Everyone in TL.net3 is like "Yah, we'll hit their smallest member, hit them before they know it!" And I'm like wtf mates. You guys are too far for PKs to hit you or for you to hit PKs. If PKs does hit someone, it's -TL-'s ass (read fucking mage's and my asses) that they'll rape.
Please don't start anything with PKs...

And this is in reference to what omgbnetsux said. All alliances of TL are allowed to hit other alliance, but please, please, please don't start shit that we can't handle. People were talking pages before about taking on an alliance like PKs. Hell, if PKs was in our quadrant, they could take on all three of our alliances and probably still win.
Be careful of who you attack and raid. You have the backing of the three alliances but don't drag us through something we can't handle.

I say we still kick their asses.

Question for ascelon/rom/kazansky:
When you guys have your second village (9/15 crop) up, did you still upgrade fields evenly? Or did you up the lone clay/wood/iron fields to a higher level before upgrading all the crop fields?

More specifically geared towards Ascelon and Kazansky, because tenbagger has a 15 field.

Neo, I have some "Safe" guidelines that we can probably go by.
1) Look if the alliance is allied with any other alliances or NAP(?)'ed with any. If they are. dont touch them b/c there is a danger that something big might start. so go for alliances that are ALONE. If we grow in size we may be able to take on these alliances that have their own allies, but for now, let's keep it down.
2)look at all their member's pops, races, and LOCATIONS. if you're pop 80 and want to farm those 30~40 guys near you, make sure that at least that 200+ pop guy is pretty far away from you.
3) Read the alliance description. If it says "we will defend our members at all costs" you probably dont want to pick a fight (esp if they are moderately big).
4) and FINALLY, do not pick fights with alliances, counting on the "big boys" of TL to help you out when the 300 pop alliance leader comes up your ass. Make sure you can at least handle the magnitude of retaliation that can be expected.
something like this should be a decent start no?
