God i am so furious right now. I am at 50% Westernisation, when the second big war comes in, this time not vs France, but against Castille, England and Portugal. Yay. I try to defend somehow, but it just won't work, they start carpet sieging me. But...well, i am really big. So it takes time. And while they do it, all those little reactionaries start to pop up. And of course the AI and the AI sit right next to each other, sieging provinces back and forth but never attacking each other, noooooo. So, while i see my provinces going up in flames, i try to consolidate what i have, sit it out, wait for the peace offer to give them like 10 provinces and then survive the next 10 years to get westernisation done and get them back. But no. Portugal, who is warleader, just does not want to end the war. They are at 99%, for about 3 years and they don't end it. The maximum i can give them is a warscore of 26 fucking procent, which would give them 100% overextension. Meanwhile spain and England give me peace offers every 3 weeks, but i can't take them, cause it would only mean that Portugal takes even longer to siege each and every province. And meanwhile, there are like 15 reactionaries uprisings that just get ignored by the europeans until they siege a province, what takes 100 westernisatikon progress from me, and then they siege the province back. I am 3 months away from bankruptcy, There are about 60k reactionaries out there and all the invaders are at low war enthusiasm but nevermind, why would the AI peace out of a war, where they can't accomplish more then just fucking break the player character. I get it. Don't play as a native american. This is the most stupid thing ever.

but there seems to be an issue with the AI not making piece.

In a recent game i had Jemen at war against Najd for 50 years (then i went in and "ended" it for both of them... Jemen wanted 100% peace/vasallisation but couldn't walk to the island with the land connection and was too dumb to build 6 ships to break najds navy...
In the same game the Ottomans were at war with Muscovy for even longer (Ottomans at ~-30 for over 50 years)...

Actually I saw a similar issue. Moldavia attacked crimea but couldnt siege all the provinces, so they occupied 6/10 provinces for like 60 years, until i warred them. Then they insta peaced. Weird

I had the same thing with Naples vs the papal states. Papal states all taken but avignon. For 20 years. Till Naples got draw into an allince vs France and lost.

Just remember that you have plenty of time. Take it slow initially and wait for a moment your enemy is weak. Patience is probably the best tip I can give any beginner.

damn, played england and now i got kind of a problem. i conquered ireland and two regions of scotland. then france, castille and austria joined the war alongside the scotsmen. my allies were savoy and portugal. the only region i got on the continent was calais so the war goal for french was to conquer it. my allies lost all their regions but i have the fleet, so i killed all our enemies ships. my warscore is -70 but they cant conquer me and i cant reconquer calais. i just dont want to surrender because they cant get to me. their surrender conditions are ridiculous. i have to give up whole ireland plus the two scotish regions i own... i think the war will last >100 years. is that normal for a big war like this in that game?

Well stalemates can happen in oversea wars.
Try blockading as many ports as you can, that will boost your warscore and hurt their income. Depending on how much better your fleet is & how many ports can be blockaded you should be able to reach a white peace like this.

Yeah, just chill, and kill their shit once it lands. At some point your continental allies will peace out seperately, which should tip the war score towards your side because you don't have all these controlled provinces weighting you down. If there is no danger for you, there is no reason to take a bad peace. Blockade shit, kill their fleets, kill what lands on your island. Depending on your continental ambitions you can either give them Calais, or wait a few years for a white peace. Expect the whole ordeal to take 5-10 years.

If the enemies get bored, you might even be able to get seperate peaces with some nations beforehand and turn the whole thing around, but i doubt you'll be able to fight France in a continental war.

Regarding those scottish and irish regions, this might be a silly question, but do you ACTUALLY own them because you have got them in a peace deal(they are in your colour), or do you just control them currently (their colour, but striped with yours). In the first case, you can keep them in a white peace. In the second case, you will need to win the war to get a few of them. Just because you control something does not mean you actually own it, reasonable peace deals are a main part of the game, and you usually only get to keep a few of the provinces you took over.

how do you go to war with native tribes in NA without declaring with no CB? i just love my stability and would hate to lose 2 points just so i can begin colonization process, yet i can't fabricate any claims because i don't border anyone...
