I've also messed around with doing Diablo 3 Any% with Barbarian and have gotten that down to 2:55:17. I'm not a huge fan of really long runs but D3 is just fun to play (especially as Barb) so I'm not really sure how much more I'd run it.

So far I've gotten Any% down to 47:32 and can probably save another ~20 seconds without too much trouble. I've been thinking about messing around with a 100% run of it too since routing the game is pretty fun. They are very fun, and i think a bit shorter than the D3 runs.

I'll have to remember this topic once I catch a presentable run on tape! I mostly watch other NES runners' streams since they are short and stuffed with small tidbits. The few longer and newer runs I enjoy include Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker any%'s. Some jawdropping tech right there.

Yeah all the information on how to improve and what not is out there, but sometimes you need someone to actually pay attention and take a close look to why you're losing time at x spot or why y glitch fails more often than it should.

I wouldn't pay for speedrun coaching but that doesn't mean I see anything wrong with it plenty of people take tennis lessons or w.e. just because they like to improve with the help of someone talented

I have no problem with it, if someone thinks its worth it to pay for some coaching for something as complex and time consuming as Speedrunning, who am i to tell them how to spend their money. My point of view is this :: I dabbled in speedrunning last year around the same time, and had some fun getting some times on some games i liked. (The Swapper and Dishonored). I lost interest afterward, but the passed month or so, ive been doing nothing but routing/running games, and the experience is more akin to Starcraft than anything else. It really turns into something completely different, your no longer playing "Dishonored", your Speedrunning a game, the game really doesn't matter, its the work/prep/reward of running these games that makes it feel like im playing Starcraft game in a sense. Even the easiest looking games, are pretty complicated and difficult to learn, there are so many tiny details that you wouldn't know unless someone coached you, or you watched a tutorial. So if 1 hour @ 20$ can shave off 20 hours of grinding and reading/watching related data to your game, then i can see coaching as something good, assuming the person being coached beleives they are getting their moneys worth. /rant But anyways, hope this thread can keep active, speedrunning is something really special, im glad you are all enjoying it, and hope for more people to try runnin some games!

Hey man if its fun, that's all that matters! There's some guy doing a Dark Souls 2 run with 1 hand, well hes routing/practicing it anyways. If you can find fun in something "retarded" as you say, who cares! Get on that shit! Oh and i also urge everyone to take a look at http://www.speedrun.com/. It's a great resource for learning or just checking out times/categories for games you may be interested in. Also, the front page shows the latest records that have been submitted, so it's always fun to see how active some of these games are.

There is fun in a challenge and then there is "The game can softlock on literally every single loading screen in a 12 hour single segment run". Legend of the Dragoon is the second one

I run Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories a game where we've hit the point where sometimes it'll take us longer to get a run to start because of 1 RNG section at the beginning of the game where if we get any card but a blizzard off the start that's an immediate 10-15 minute time loss before you're even 5 minutes into a run. I do a lot of silly and ridiculous categories for other games, but theres a difference between that and risking losing a run at every loading screen for bs.
