nope and here's why

1) Arcade battles with the CTF? designed specifically to prevent the case where your stuck chasing a unit you have no chance of catching that keeps running away (i.e in the original rome when a rebellion sends 3 units of illyrian skirmishers in the middle of your province and you send 3 units of legionaires to deal with it? your not catching those fuckers) so that they have to defend. personally i'd like to see the flag movable in the deployment phase so we didn't have the stupid "you can't use this convenient hill because the FLAG"

2) special actions have always been there as far back as rome 1 (may have been in medieval 1 and shogun 1 but didn't play them) things like testudo, flaming arrows, cantabarian circle were all abilities, granted there are more now but i think thats just for flavour

3) Having played Rome 1 and suffered the "Onagers can't hit a gate thats right in front of them" the fps siege equipment is GOOD, but i doubt we'll get it for full on units since it wouldn't really work - boats might work but units nope

4) Going to need to be more specific for this one regarding what your actual peev is

5) Compared to rome 1, the only buildings i can think of that were completely cut were the acadamies, and they wouldn't work with the new skill system. Do you mean it went from a five stage tree to a four stage tree? because really thats just only slightly condensed.

6) Console gaming hasn't had new hardware in seven years consequently pc users haven't experienced as much graphical advance as they could have, therefor getting newer and better hardware has been less of a concern to most people, so CA was trying to make sure it was accessible to as much of the PC market as they could.

now please people before anyone goes and crucifies me for defending CA at this time realize i am not saying rome doesn't have issues but that those issues are not related to a console port coming in the foreseeable future.

The worst thing is, instead of playing Rome, i am playing LoL and get annoyed as fuck. I could just switch games, but i don't...

Rome 2 was a "good" game in that i enjoyed playing it (minus the bugs), is it a worthwhile purchase? not yet. Will it BECOME a worthwhile purchase? Probably

I've been spoiled by SC2's AI. Rome 2's real-time AI is horrid. I have to re-issue a command to a unit a few seconds after I just issued that very same command. This happens all of the time.

the game is way to complex to get released on consoles. they'd have to dumb the game down massively.

I went back to play some Shogun 2 with Darthmod and I have to say, I'm enjoying it a lot more than Rome 2. It's a real shame.

And let that be a lesson: Don't preorder stuff. Don't buy stuff on launch day. Wait until the developers actually fixed the game, at which point it will have been out for half a year and you get the whole game with all the additional parts that they cut out to sell to you piecemeal for half the price.

If enough people do that, i'd guess companies will stop releasing half-finished games since i can't believe that from a business standpoint half the money is better then all the money.

The problem is that it has become acceptable practice in the gaming industry to shower preorderers with bonuses. In the good old days, a preorder guaranteed you the game on release date. Hell, you might even get a cool item with the game, like a map.

Nowadays? How about a whole bunch of DLCs which everyone else will have to pay out of their ass to get. Wait, I know, let's give out one free DLC for each game store, so that EVERYONE will be forced to not only preorder, but also buy a bunch of DLCs!

Solution: Don't preorder stuff, get all that DLC in a pack half a year later for less then you would now pay to gain access to an open beta that calls itself release. To me, day 1 DLC says "Don't buy this before it gets a big discount for the whole pack"

Shogun 2 at release was also quite a mess, and the corrupted saves bug annoyed the crap out of me.

I saved 15 bucks off the original purchase by preordering; the day 1 DLC was simply an added bonus, lol.

It'll be even cheaper and better-running next summer, though, when they sell everything up to that point for only $30 in a sale.

Yeah I don't understand this day 1 DLC. Like I can understand if it is a unit skin or something. But to have something gameplay related purposely removed from the game at launch is such a dick move, yet still people buy it at launch. No wonder the gaming industry has declined so much in quality when developers can release broken games and people still buy it.

Sorry but as much as I am disapointed by this release I really don't buy that explanation some try to put forward. The game is poorly polished and many features are missing or bad. For both consoles and PC.

It isn't a Diablo 3 where everything was working smoothly but some stuff where designed with a console port, gamepad in mind, (like the 6 skills thing); it's a poorly optimized/polished game with lots of bugs, period.


i didnt mean this particular game, but rather near future tw releases. but who knows.
