He has good court vision and makes passes that maybe look too flashy but they get the job done too, (eg. the behind the back pass out of a double team to tolliver for 3 last night). I guess it depends if he can learn to shoot and if he can keep his TOs low as a wolves PG :p. Even as a wolves fan I'm not 100% certain he's going to be the franchise player we need him to be, but if not at least i get to watch flashy passes eh? ![]()

Everyone was saying he was going to be a bust because he didn't have any outside shot. Check his stats he only averaged under 5 points, but he claims he's all about winning so the stats apparently don't matter to him, which is true to a certain extent.

Led his team to win 7 of the last 8 games from behind in the 4th quarter/OT, even though his stats were abysmal. The ultimate winner. Wait, that's Tim Tebow.

Wait, that's Tim Tebow. He's a terrible shooter, but his court vision is pretty strong. He creates really well for his teammates.

Steve Nash is a threat to shoot 50% from anywhere on the court if you give him a big cushion which combined with his ability to probe the interior of the defense opens up passing opportunities. Other players like Westbrook and Rose have a credible threat to go to the basket (along with evolving outside games) which makes them all the more difficult to defend.

more like wall, irving, et all? and in that case, he's definitely a contender, atleast, from what we've seen. i drafted him for my deep fantasy league hoping he'll put up numbers atleast comparable to the other rookie/low tier PGs, as im sure thats only what people really expect from him

Well.. do you see Rajon Rondo as a credible shooting threat? He barely hits uncontested mid-range jumpers ![]() Rubio is the definition of a pass-first PG, which I think will fit nicely into the Timberwolves' lineup, they've got at least three valid scoring threats now in Love, Beasley & Williams. From what people say he is the next Karl Malone, which would be awesome, if true, but from what I remember from his college days I didn't like him nearly that much (although he was the best player in the draft and deserved to be the #1 pick). I'm one of those who live in Europe and is far from sane (so I watched every Clippers game last season) :D Few players can live up to their hype, to be honest. But if his rookie year was any indication, he'll be an All-Star selection for the rest of his career, and that's saying something. If Blake Griffin is the next Mailman? Not sure.. It's a pretty insane comparison if you ask me, not because Griffin can't become really really good, but because Karl Malone is a god damn hero at the PF position. 2nd All-Time Scoring, 1st All-Time Def. Rebs, two-time MVP, 11 All-NBA first team selections, the list goes on.. You should toy with your sanity for one night to watch him play though, he's easily one of the most exciting players to join the NBA in a while!

His game is not like Malone's, unless he learns that PnR 18 footer, which would make him the best power forward in the league for a long time. He's more like pre-injury Amare but yes, his game is a bit different than his Oklahoma days. More jumping.

Rondo penetrates very well and generates a fair amount of his offense (or offensive stats) from his defense. His team is also very talented. The same can not be said of Rubio. We'll see how Rondo does once his team isn't 3 future HoFs for an entire season (not counting his rookie ofc). Compared to Nash who is pretty much Phoenix because of his abilities to shoot, and distribute to average role players. In any case, what I think clutz was trying to say that Rubio falls under neither a credible shooting threat or a blow past you kind of PG. He needs at least one of those 2 to be considered potential and he will need to develop a credible shot, only that much is certain.
