Yes, that is correct. Done. Played 1.6 at a competitive level for 6 years, not going to miss out on this just for £10 Thanks Very nice. I've played a lot of competitive TF2 myself, and I'm looking to actually get into Counter Strike.
Judging by the disagreements above, no one knows exactly what time the early access starts?

As long as it's ready when I wake up

If you pre-order it right now, you get automatic access to beta I believe.

Good to see this thread actually come alive a little. Can't wait for full release now, new update is good, few minor gripes aside, pc pre-ordered. I'll probably pick up an Xbox copy too to play with my friends who don't game on pc.
One thing that is bugging why.. why when I press random map 90% of the time I get train >_<

this thread is too long, tl needs a cs:go section. with a 45k dreamhack winter tourny I think it deserves one.

As was said, stuff like that isn't all that relevant unless you play 5man, and map area names etc will usually depend on your clan, there's nothing really standard (except possibly what is the A bomb spot and what is the B bomb spot). If you're going to play alone or just with a friend or two, just play the game to improve your aim. If aiming is like 1.6, it's all about learning how to burst properly. If it's more like source, it's all about learning to hold your mouse button down. I have played since 1.3... and played thousands of hours of cs... I just never got into competitive aspect of it, and right now when I play more competitive-matchmaking and sometimes end up playing with decent people that are actually communicating and trying to do things it is actually more fun to play 5v5, rather than 20vs20... Or using esea.net to find matches... I am not trolling or trying to jump a bar, I am just wondering if through the last 10+ years of my cs career I somehow avoided cs community that exists perhaps on a different website... No, there is no Team Liquid of CS. The only legitimate resource that used to exist was Gotfrag which isn't really a relevant site anymore. To be honest though, there's not really much to learn, it's a shooter. Advanced tactics are shit like throwing nades so they make a noise as soon as you defuse or shoulder peaking a ledge where you think an awper might be to bait his shot then cross the choke or kill him. The most advanced concepts have to do with team synergy and strategy on individual maps which no team makes readily available to anyone anyway. Best way to improve is constant deathmatching with awp/deagle to improve reaction time and aim and then playing esea matches until you find a team to scrim with. Ultimately, if your aim and reaction times are good, you'll find a team pretty easily and can learn the rest as a team.
What are you talking about?
hltv.org and esea. Two Major sites for CS.
I love HLTV, and visit the website ever since 2004.

esea isn't exactly a "teamliquid" type model like GotFrag was though. You could make the argument for hltv.org, but esea is like a small section of the community for people with down syndrome. Add on top of that every representative for ESEA that posts there is extremely unprofessional and is only concerned with making money off of stupid players.
Gotfrag was legendary, it's really hurt the entire CS community being bought by MLG and died.

how many hours till the beta is opened to those who preordered?

say what you want about ESEA, but they made a self sustaining system that let CS flourish in the hardest of times while other places relied so heavily on sponsorship money that they inevitably bit the dust. When it comes to the pug system, league, and scrimming it is always a good time with your friends imo. plus the esea.net forums are still funny to me

Can someone tell me if this game even has the matchmaking feature they are advertising yet?
|
There is 5v5 matchmaking, yes but I think it's shit in its current state. There's even community server matchmaking though I haven't tried it yet.
|
Thanks for the reply. Do you know if the matchmaking takes you to steam hosted servers? Or is it like the 1.6 days where you really need your owns to reliably play?
|
The ranked matchmaking is on Valve servers.
