Am I being way too skeptical thinking that valve would release console versions of the game? I hope not

The fact that they gave up on cs 1.6 many years ago pretty much speaks volumes at to which counter strike game they wanted to succeed.

Never seen a gaming company be so stubborn and ignorant to what their community wants.

You'd be more correct if you said "what the hardcore esports community, which is rather small compared to the casual community, wants."

So you think fixing 10 year old flash bugs is exclusively what a hardcore community wants? I think its a pretty basic concept that games are supposed to be without bugs, it has nothing to do with esports.

Also new maps, game modes and standarizing the netcode would definantly help the newb pub players to enjoy the game more aswell.

I don't understand how you can defend valve when theyve pretty much done nothing to further 1.6 as a game.

1.6 is a perfect example of a community driven game that for most of its time was neglected and ignored by the creators.

Valve didn't even make 1.6 lol

source.... =[ so sad. Hearing Scoots reaction on Lo3 when it was alleged that they were asking source players for input was hilarious and sad at the same time. I guess we can put our hopes in promod?

Is it going to be a reskinned CSS or are they making the graphics nicer?
Edit: From what I heard, it's using the same engine as source..

They better not CoD-ify it, that is one of the reasons why I still play 1.6 a lot today. It's simple, but it is really good. The physics/recoil, etc. are good, and it's a serious game. As opposed to CoDMW2.

They did, they bought the game after beta 7, and gooseman was getting help with the netcode even before that.

343 is doing updates for Halo Reach, doesn't mean it isn't Bungie's game.

I thought alot of the people who work for 343 worked for Bungie on Halo Reach anyway?

Bit of a side comment there so back to CS....

This is only interesting if it's in the spirit of 1.6 a css/cod clone is not interesting.

The community is split pretty evenly between 1.6 and CSS, so it's not a cut and dry thing of what the community wants. CSS with different hitboxes and recoil would make most people happy (and frankly, I thought that shit was always overstated anyway by annoying fanboys)

HLEP3 and this would make me buy a new comp. Nothing like spending $1000 to play two new games. Smart use of money!

People have their preferences. Just because they don't like the same game as you doesn't degrade them in any way.

I personally preferred CSS to 1.6, something about the crouch-walking and the fimsy aspect of the walls turned me off. I'm not saying 1.6 is bad, far from it, but it didn't necessarily "fail" as hard as every fan of 1.6 claims it to have.

Cs community is such a joke of an esports scene. A decade on they still think that a remade 1.6 will be the messiah of fps when thats not what the majority of the gamers want. call them pub players or watever but the reason why the communities are dieing isnt because the level of competition isntthere it is because ppl are sick of playing the same maps and same guns for 10 years.

Fix that and you might get a new scene but if its going to be another 10years of train inferno and dust then fuck that.

CSS is the real pub game of the two, it has and has always had a small competitive scene compared to 1.6.

CSS is just inferior, both community-wise but also as a competitive game. The number of people playing the game hardy makes an argument when valve has been promoting the shit out of it while 1.6 has been left rotting and still somehow succeeded.

Also casual games ALWAYS have a strong following in comparison to competitive/hardcore games. That goes without saying.

Esport is what matters here, so if I want a good and fun pub game I go play TFT2 or any of the 23 COD titles.
